Not necessarily related to the details of the DP, but I've heard that there is going to be big changes to Le Cellier....and probably before 2011!

Sorry! :goodvibes

Realized I better double check with my daughter to make sure the information she told me can be shared at this point! She's a CRP at the Canadian Pavilion and I don't want to get her in trouble! ;) I promise that when I get the greenlight, I'll be back to share!

Please do!

I have Le Cellier booked for October.

Interesting! Look forward to your update. I have an ADR for end of September.

My daughter said that the changes were announced to staff this week which makes it public knowledge....

Staff were told that Le Cellier will be switching to 'signature' status as early as September 2010. Date isn't firm, because there is going to be major changes to the restaurant (she was told less tables) and a revamp of the menu!

I can only imagine how unhappy people will be with this news. Not surprising, but I'm not sure how they're going to handle the switch for people who already have ADRs..... :confused3

:guilty:

I was shocked when I found out it was just a regular 1 TS credit... guess it will no longer be :( Glad I am going to WDW this year, but I have yet to get a dinner ADR there for my trip in a little over a month...

Thanks for the news....

That may deserve a thread of its own. Will be interesting to see the "fallout" on that decision.

It should (theoretically) make it a bit easier to get an ADR there though (granted, table number reduction may swing it the other way), as well as drive the quality back up. It was good last year, but I wouldn't consider it 2TS good (and prices aren't really that much more than other WS locations, driving down the worth even as a 2TS place). We'll have to see.

I would think that it would be kinda late to do it now though, since Sept ADRs have been long made, it would make sense to announce it more than 180days out due to fallout occuring from already made plans. However, that's just me and "how would I do it?" Since I don't run Disney, they can do it however they think is right :p. Whatever it ends up as, it'll be interesting to watch ;).

I'll be there 26 Sept for lunch either way. so long as I can get my NY Strip, I'll be happy.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not totally surprised they are switching to "signature" status, but I am surprised by the fewer tables. It's already a small restaurant and they have no trouble filling it. I'm pretty sure it won't be as difficult to get ADRs with it taking 2TS, but it will still be popular.

I am glad the changes won't take place until September at the earliest. I have an ADR for August and it would mess up my plans if it was 2TS. I could deal with it by dropping a TS or paying OOP for a meal, but I'd rather not.

I have two reservations there for our Oct trip. If it's changed to a signature restaurant I know exactly what I'll be doing. I'll be cancelling both reservations. It's not worth 2 credits. However, I can't see them changing it to a Signature restaurant in the middle of the year, especially when people have already made reservations there expecting it to be one credit. You'd think that if they are going to change it to a Signature restaurant that they'd wait until the new year to do so. Also what about Tutto Italia? My last meal there was more expensive than my meal at Le Cellier.:confused3

I will probably be flamed for this but I just don't get the whole hype about Le Cellier. I personally think that most of the appeal is in the prices being high (therefore appearing to be a good value use of a TS credit) and the fact that it is so hard to get a reservation (which is partly due to limited capacity) and I just think a lot of the appeal is found in the triumph of actually securing a reservation there. But that's just my opinion. ;)

I have to agree its a nice restaurant but not worthy of being a signature one. Wasn't it one before and changed to single credit? Also reducing the number of tables is going to reduce profit margin not sensible in this economic climit.

I may be in the minority, but I notice the percieved value of Le Cellier to be higher than the real value at this point in time. I am tired of all the old wonderful options being removed to lower the menu to meet the reimbursement value of the DDP. It will be nice if Le Cellier, Coral Reef and a few others go to being signature and revamp the menu accordingly. Maybe then I would want to eat there again.

Not sure about the details of how the menu will change, but it's going to change as well. Substantial price increases to justify the 2TS I guess....

She mentioned that when a Disney restaurant is 'signature' part of that is fewer tables.

She's concerned because she's in line to become a server there, but clearly they're not going to need as many servers (less tables) but the price increases should make up for the difference in the number of tables being served. She said that staff weren't too happy with the news!

Bonnie, thanks for the update! It will be interesting to see what the new menu looks like. We're on the DxDP and are doing 2-credit dinners on half of our nights (4 out of 8) and I am not opposed to paying 2 credits, but I would favor a proven restaurant rather than one that may just be trying out a menu. I would imagine it would have to close for at least a few days for the re-vamping. They would probably have to redecorate the space to make it more inline with a signature experience.

Ideally, they should keep most of the staff, even with table reductions.

I wonder how many of the WS restaurants will change to signature status. Le Cellier was originally going to be a signature restaurant but changed to one credit at the same time the non-Disney WS restaurants joined the plan.

I agree and I have yet to have a great meal at LC ever! The food was better when it was a cafeteria!

They better revamp the menu with some larger and better quality cuts of meats. What is served now is good but not worth two TS nor the pricing of a Shulas or Yachtsman.

Hmm I wonder if they will ever open a regular priced steakhouse again since concourse is gone and Le Cellier is changing to signature
