Possible Changes at LeCellier

With 2010 Dining Plan literature listing it as a single TS credit and people having ADRs for the next 180-190 days, I think it would make much more sense for them to make the change effective January 1.

We have two reservations there on the dining plan in October, and I'll be disappointed if they don't honor our reservations as a 1 TS restaurant.

That's assuming the restaurant doesn't re-open with a new name after a brief closing for renovations.

We are huge Le Cellier fans! We'll be pretty bummed if they do too much decor changing. The way it looks in there is one of our very favorite things about the restaurant! Well, not to mention the pretzel breadsticks! :goodvibes

My DH & I don't ever take the DP, so the last few trips to WDW, we couldn't even dine at LeCellier because we couldn't get reservations. I'm hoping that by bumping it to Signature status, maybe there will be less interest for people on the DP and open up some ressies!

Just got off the phone with my daughter....looks more like they're probably going to make the changes for January 2011 but there's a big budget for restaurant upgrades which would mean the restaurant would have to close for a period of time. She's concerned about what that would mean for all the CRP employees that work in the restaurant!

And they've finally been able to negotiate bringing back true Canadian beef which will probably improve the quality of product - hence the price increases!

Thanks for the updates.

That is an advantage to being a "Signature" at Disney versus a standard restaurant. Usually the Chefs have more freedom for negotiation on menus and food suppliers when you are the former.

I would love to see LeCellier be something special again, and so long as designating it a Signature does that for the restaurant, I am on board!

I wonder if this ties into the rumor about WS restaurants being open an extra hour. Since signature dining typically takes longer it would let them have more seatings.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out! Thank you Bonnie for keeping us updated. :)

I've been trying to move ADRs around for our late September trip. Everytime I try LC, it tells me there is nothing available but it's in red on the main reservation page..not the one that normally tells you no times available and then gives you other suggestions.

I wonder if all this is part of that message.

I just went in to play with availability, and I also noticed that reservations in September gave a different default "No" than the usual default "no". September has that message in Red, and October and later have the usual "Sorry, try one of these" messages.

The dining plan restaurant participation is always subject to change.

Be interesting to see if it can revert back to the restaurant it used to be :thumbsup2

To justify making it into a signature restaurant, they'll need to serve prime meat.

Which, from the sound of it, they have already done. (Securing Canadian Beef again, which they got rid of a while ago)

Like Pumbaa_, I am hopeful that it will become more what it used to be.

Hmmm. We have ADRs for Le Cellier in early October and are on the dining plan. I have eaten dinner there once before and liked it well enough, but I didn't think it was any better than several of the other Epcot restaurants. I'm not real excited about the idea of having to shuffle around ADRs at this point.

So.....question: If I am able to book an ADR in June for my Dec. trip and they change the status of LC, do I get to keep my ADR?

Do we know any past experiences where a restaurant was changed to a Signature restaurant mid-year? I don't know of any, but I'm a relative newbie at this. This will only be our fourth year going.

If anything, I suspect that they would call and give affected parties priority rescheduling at other restaurants. They did something similar a couple years ago when they refurbished Teppanyaki into Teppan Edo.

Yahtsman is a signature restaurant. They don't serve prime meat. Shua's doesn't even serve prime meat.

I agree they'll have to improve the quality, and cuts, of beef.

I'm guessing a lot of that would have to do with how many tables they remove when changing it over. If the restaurant is fully booked, and they remove tables, some of those people aren't going to fit any more. Of course, there will be some people who don't want to spend two credits, so they will cancel on their own. And some OOP guests won't want to pay higher prices, so they will cancel as well. It just depends on how the numbers fall out.

Please forgive me if I am having a senior moment (and today is my birthday, LOL!), but I recall when they switched CRT to a signature, and added the photo. I believe they honored the ADRs they currently had for 1 TS credit, then all new ADRs were at 2 credits. Not sure how they worked it out, but it worked out for my SIL. Sounds like they won't do it till next year, so we free diners won't have to worry.
