Hello! I haven't seen anyone talk about Portobello in DTD...I currently have an ADR in October, as this trip we want to try some places we haven't been. Menu looks great....any thoughts?
Thanks!!

We ate there fir the first time in March and it was pretty good.
For the appetizer we had the calamari, it was good, but other restaurants on property have better in my opinion.

Dh had a pizza which was ok, nothing out of the extraordinary and I had the Black Linguine with Rock Shrimp which was delicious! It is covered in a lobster garlic sauce, super flavorful! I do not have a photo of Dh's pizza, the app or dessert, but I have one of my dish.

For dessert we had chocolate gelato.

We tried it in March...it was excellent! We all enjoyed our food and the service was great. I would definitely return to eat there.

Portobello is one of my favorites, and it's my best friend's absolute favorite. We go there every couple of months for a mom's night out. I love the black linguine, but usually when I go with my friend we get appetizers and desserts. I LOVE the mushroom appetizer -- a grilled portobello mushroom topped with a balsamic glaze over polenta. For dessert I love the white chocolate creme brulee or the chocolate cake. They also have a fantastic non-alcoholic iced coffee drink.

I think Portabello is one of Disney's hidden gems. I've definitely enjoyed the meals I've had here.

This is a must do each trip now :) We really love the food here and the service it great. We found it by accident one night, we were trying to find a place at DTD to each after MK had closed by 9pm and selected Portobello. The food is amazing!

This used to be our favorite but sadly the menu has succumbed to the dining plan folks. They have dropped so many of our favorite dishes and added more flatbreads and salads. Our waitress was upset by it too.
We knew it would happen once they started taking the ddp but its still sad. Food and service has always been outstanding.

My family went to Portobello back in October after seeing Tony Mantuano do a F&W demo the previous year. He made the black linguine and rock shrimp dish and it was delicious. When I went to Portobello, I had it again, but it was nothing like the one at the demo. The restaurant's version had absolutely no flavor...I actually wondered if they forgot to put the sauce on the pasta and served it with the pasta water instead (it was that bland). The linguine with clams was very good and very flavorful. The calamari was good, but the arancini were only okay (the ones at VN are much better). The biggest drawback was the service. We only saw our server when he needed to take the order or bring the bill. We had to ask for drink refills and clean silverware from a different server. I had high hopes for Portobello, but our experience was underwhelming. I'd be willing to going back, but it's unlikely to occur because there are only so many restaurants that can be visited on a trip and I'm reluctant to waste another one meal at a place that was only okay.

I agree, it seems to have gone downhill since they started taking the DDP, but it still ranks as a favorite for me.

Ordinary Italian.

Probably better than Mama Melrose and a couple of Italian places in Epcot--but not in the same league as Il Mulino

Just ate there tonight. Family and I did a spur of moment visit to DTD. Fun visit to Disney quest and tried to get into rain forest cafe but three hour wait. Shorter wait at portobello and thought Italian food would be safe. We are not picky eaters and have great experiences at The Wave, Biergarten, and hoop de do revue this week, but portobello very disappointing. I guess I'm not used to arugula salad but it was bitter and uneatable. My wife said arugula in house salad made it unpalatable also. My black linguini with shrimp had little taste with shrimp tasting frozen and overcooked, linguini tough and overcooked. I finished my daughters pizza; tasted the same as the frozen pizza from Harris tester. My wife and other daughter said their spaghetti and meatballs tasted pretty bland. Atmosphere no better than a golden corral. Service was fine. Walking back to the car remarked to my wife I was bummed we didn't eat at the Irish place around the corner or any of the other restaurants with live singers. At least we would have had some entertainment.

We have reservations there our first full day at Disney - an easy boat ride from POFQ. We saw a special on one of the channels a while ago which peaked our interest. After seeing reviews, I was hesitant. Now reading this threat made me feel better - there are more positive than negative reviews.

Don't let a few bad reviews (or "ordinary" reviews like mine:)) keep you from trying a place.
EVERY restaurant at WDW has people who don't really care for it--and people who think it's great.

The only way you will know is to try it!!!

:thumbsup2 This is great advice. Everyone has restaurants that they don't like but others rave about. We really don't like 50's Prime Time, for other people, it's a favourite.

Thanks everyone! In all of our visits, I can't really think of a "bad" meal that we've had. There have been a few slight disappointments, but that's honestly to be expected. Portobello will stay on my list! Thanks!!

I was soooooo happy to see this post because I love love love Portobello. Now I have only been there once but my group of 7 all had an amazing experience. We were there on Dec 29th 2012 after coming off of a cruise (non-Disney) that had terrible food so we were thrilled to have such a great meal.
The chocolate Paradise cake is to die for.
The only reason we tried this restaurant was because it was added as a 1 credit option on the DDP - so exciting!

Did not have good experience at portobello a few weeks back. Bland food, shrimp tasted frozen, arugula sale awful.

This is by far the best Italian food at Disney.
However if you order Pizza -- (they always have a coupon for like 5 or 8 for a flatbread and a soda)-- then you will get just that an ok Pizza at best.
if you are willing to explore differnt things on the menu you will find great food.
Il Mulino is different offering the more traditional red sauce based dishes.
I would choose Portabollo over Il Mulino anyday.
I am form NY you can trust me Il Mulino is by far not on a top to go to list here.
