Portable/Solar cell phone charger suggestions

Can anyone suggest a good portable/solar cell phone charger? I want one for not only the parks but for at home too. We hike and I like taking pictures when we are out and about which always drains my battery.

It has been amazing. I can't believe how much juice it holds. Just keep in mind that with any device like this, it takes a very long time to charge.....like, most of a day if it is empty (though we seem to have success topping it off at night.)

Smartphone batteries are cheap. Check Amazon for your brand. No need for chargers in the park if you just swap out a battery.

A lot of cell phones don't have removable/replaceable batteries unless the manufacturer does it.

It will charge our phones about 4 times before it's dead and takes about 6 hours to charge back up. It looks like there is a newer model out also, we've had ours 4 years and it's still going strong.

DH and I got our battery backup from monoprice. Great quality for a great price! We usually buy other electronic stuff from them as well like cables because of their great prices. We used it during our stay in October and it worked wonderfully. I can plug my phone in and leave it in my purse to let it charge for a little while and it doesn't take up much space!

We used a Mophie for our iPhones. It isn't a solar charger but it serves as a full or more battery backup and is a compact case for the phone.

I have a Jackery, too. It's the smaller one than the PP posted. I DID buy the small cord that has one end that plugs into the Jackery and the other end into the phone.

You can't switch out the battery on an iPhone.

I have a Jackery and an Anker, both over 13,000 mAh, and I am happy with them. The more powerful the charger, the bigger and heavier it is, but to me it's worth carrying a little extra weight in my bag to ensure I don't run out of power.

I tried a couple solar ones in the past, and never found an effective one. Great concept, really difficult to execute.

I agree. The solar chargers may be worthwhile when the zombies takeover however. Then phones won't matter but I'll still have my tunes.
