I will be returning to WDW after a few years and since the launch of MDE, Magic Bands and Fast Pass Plus. We will be going in a large group and I am afraid that between texting, taking pictures and checking the MDE app, my phone battery will die quickly. Do you recommend a small portable charger for an iphone 5s?

I like the mophie juicepacks. I picked up one on sale this week at Verizon that will charge most phones 3 times. You can also find charging cases for an iPhone online if you don't want to carry around a separate item.

I bought one from Anker. 3300 or 3400 I think. It works very well, is pretty small and light enough. I like that it has an LED indicating it's charge level despite its small size. It'll charge my phone fully and iPad about halfway on one full charge.

Amazon sells lots of different chargers. We've had good experience with Anker chargers. Check the capacity (expressed in mah). A 10,000 mah battery will fully charge your iPhone 5s about five or six times. You'll want to consider the balance between the charging capacity and the size/weight. There are small "lipstick sized" chargers that provide good charging capability with minimal extra weight to carry.

I think Anker are way better than the Mophies because they are bigger, faster and can recharge two at a time.

I use this one: http://amzn.to/1UJcXuZ

Last year we used our phones extensively and were able to recharge them back up to 100% during lunch (4 iphones) and then back up to 100% over dinner. We'd plug in the battery pack each night with our phones, though we could have done the above for three days before the recharge pack would have ran out of juice. We use a multiport charger in the hotel to keep everything together: http://amzn.to/21ekWAa and easy to charge. The multiport charger is a lifesaver so you don't have to find so many outlets.

Another vote for Anker! DH and I each have one of the "lipstick size" Anker Chargers and one of the bigger ones, roughly the size of a TV remote, and I would definitely recommend them. The bigger one is great for charging an iPad on airplanes or car trips but can be used for phones too. I keep a smaller one in my purse and DH keeps one in his car. I actually use both sizes fairly regularly in normal life, and the smaller one was a lifesaver for me during our trip to Disneyland back in December. If I remember correctly the small ones are $20 or less on Amazon, and I think I can get a couple of full phone charges out of mine before I have to recharge the charger. My dad has a mophie and likes it, but we've been happy with the price and performance of the Ankers.

We have been using the Jackery brand that we found on Amazon, and love them. They are great at the parks with batteries being drained using the app, taking pics/video, using devices while waiting in lines, etc. They have one that holds three phone charges that we can pass around as needed. We got them for our trip two years ago, and now we all have one. The kids use them when they go out with friends or to a sleep over, or on a long car trip. You can also get smaller ones that hold one charge that are the size of a lipstick tube. We also bring a multi -charger for the room (found one on clearance at Target) that has three plug spots and two USBs to charge phones/IPod and recharge Jackery for the next day.

I bought one on Amazon for about $15, I think it was Liger. It worked great. It could charge 2 things at once if we needed it to. I will say, my phone didn't drain nearly as much as I expected but I only used it sporadically for photos. It was an older Samsung SIII and we mainly used it for MDE and Touring Plans.

I love my anker extended battery my fiance just got one for her phone too
I had one last year and it helped a lot I now have a larger one use my hone a lot for work and get a week with the lager on board battery

I picked up a super cheap portable charger from walmart, I usually plug it in around 30% and it will charge a lot, usually not all the way, and it'll only work the once. If you can, try to find a more expensive one that works better, lol. My bff has one that was around $40 but will charge your phone FULLY 4 times, or can charge 4 phones, it also can plug in 2 at once, super convenient!

Tips on saving your battery life:
-If you can, use airplane mode, you can still I message & facebook msg to interact
-Turn off bluetooth, and turn down brightness, and use "powersaver mode"
-The MDE app DRAINS battery like no tomorrow, I rarely use it, I'll open it in the morning to screenshot our fp for the day and then usually don't use it again!

Just wanted to throw in a reminder about the charging stations by Rapunzel's tower. The charging ports are hidden in the tree stumps and it's a really pleasant place to pause, have a snack, people watch. We always take powerbanks, too, but love the option of the charging stations as back up!
