Me n the family are going to Disney in Feb. 07 :cool1: I'm torn with where to stay the Port Orleans Riverside or the Port Orleans French Quarter.
HELP!!!!!!!!!! where should I stay?

They are both beautiful. They differ in size, but you have the privilege of using the facilities at both resorts at a guest at either one. We enjoy the smaller, more intimate feel of the French Quarter, but loved POR as well. The boat ride to DTD is a nice extra. My daughter prefers the pool theming at POFQ. It's basically a matter of personal preference. The buses start at POFQ, which means you don't have to struggle for a seat as much. You should check ou the photos at allears.net to compare. Have a great trip! We leave for POFQ tomorrow!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

French Quarter to me is cramped. Riverside is spread out and I like the privacy factor with that.

We stayed at POFQ for our last trip and absolutely loved it. It's not a very large place which meant very little walking. The food was adequate. They have a great guy who plays music at the lounge most of the week. The main plus is that the buses start there so they're empty when you get on and they stop there first in the evenings so you're also first off at the end of the day.

We've never stayed at POR.

It also depends on the number of people with you. There was myself, DW, DS(11) DD(10) and DD(2) at the time and were able to fit in the room because they don't count DD(2). However, our ressies for next year's trip are at POR only because of the fact that we will count as 5 people then. We would return to POFQ in a second if they had a way to accomodate 5 people in one room.

We'll be staying at POFQ in January. It was recommended to me due to the ages of our girls (who will be 5 and 1.5 at the time of our trip.) My TA says this is the smallest of the mods, and it will be much easier to get around with the little ones.

We stayed at POFQ in June for the 2nd time (the first was without children and the second time was with) and still love it! We were in building 5 and were less than a 3 minute walk from the food court, bus stop, pool and boat launch.
AWESOME!

Just a suggestion, put this in the resort area. We had the same problem of where to stay and the folks there are really experts with floor plans and everything.

I will say that I am starting to really like the family section as it is with people who have kids and we look at thing differentely. We can all relate to the stroller quests and pottie breaks.

If you just wants to compare resorts, post in resorts for the info and I know you will get tons.

We are staying at POFQ because we want a small, intimate, relaxed, boat ride to DTD resort with easy access to a bus. We are going in Sept.

Have fun and good luck :Pinkbounc

We stayed at POR, but made a trek over to POFQ for the themed pool. Here is what I can offer for comparrison -

Pools - FQ was really neat, but the POR slide was actually bigger. DS5 liked both.

Food courts - We liked POR much better, but may have just hit FQ at a bad time. (Don't want to judge too much, as we were only there once.)

Kiddie playground - FQ was better, and conveniently located. (POR was sandy and woodsy.)

POR has the sit-down restaurant - Boatwrights, which we really liked.

We happened to luck out room-wise, but POR is spread out. You could end up with a walk to the main area. (But there is more than one bus stop, so that part should not be bad.)

Boats/bikes - You can get the DTD launch from either, but the marina to rent little boats or surry bikes is at POR.

Hope some of these help. Have a great trip!

Riverside is more spread out and has it's own food court and restaurant, POFQ only has the food court.

The recreation is all based at Riverside too. And i prefer the theming :) So personally I would always say POR!!

We love POR. It is our "home". I like POR because of it being spread out. It's so beautiful there. One tip, if you decide on POR. LEARN TO USE THE WHOLE BUS SYSTEM! This place is spread out, and one thing we learned from the first time going is there are more than just one bus stop on the property. This especially helps when you're coming back from the parks.

I've stayed at both and although i loved POR..it was really big and spread out.
We all LOVED POFQ! I loved how small it was and the food court wasn't bad at all. My kids had a blast in the pool, and loved the waterslide! The other good thing about it is the buses aren't too crowded because it is a smaller resort...you also share the bus with POR, but FQ gets it first.
I would go with FQ!!!

I didn't stay @ POFQ but visited when I stayed @ POR..I LOOOOVED POR as well did the kids. We had a great time..If you are ok with quite a a bit of walking (which I love to do) then you'd be ok here..It is a large spreadout resort and I was in building 36 I believe, when was almost a 10 minute walk to the food court and main bus stop---but we had a bus stop right behind our building which was good after a long day when you just wanted to be in bed.
