Im staying at port orleans riverside, this september for 2 weeks,
and would like to know

Which would be the best building to stay in?

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace a couple years ago. It was really nice... close to the quiet pool... not too far to the main building (it's a beautiful walk).

I stayed there in 2005 and was in the Acadian House building. I liked it but it was a bit of a hike if you don't like to walk. I think the closest building to the marina area is the Oak Manor building.

I love the resort. It is really peaceful and the best of the moderates at getting away from the hectic activity of the parks.

We've stayed at Riverside several times. Alligator Bayou in building 14 or, I believe, 18. You close to the main lobby, the bus stop, and there is a quiet pool right there.

We stayed in Building 24. No way will I suggest that building! I would recommend Buildings 14, 15 or 18. All are in the Alligator Bayou section.

I stayed in Acadian house the last time too (one of the mansions) and I like the feel of the mansions a bit better than the aligator bayou area (stayed in Aligator Bayou when it was still Dixie Landings in 1996). It wasn't an awful walk to the main building - maybe 5 minutes? And it's a beautiful walk :)

Definitely check out the piano guy in the lobby bar area. It's very family oriented and we loved it (no kids in our group - just childish adults).

Great choice!

Last time we were there we tried to get into Alligator Bayou buildings 14 and 18. They weren't available and he had put us in a mansion but I wanted to be in Alligator Bayou for the trees. :) He reluctantly put us in building 38 saying that it was on the far end of the resort and a bit of a walk. Maybe he hyped it up so much but by the time we go to our room, we were thinking, "This is it? That walk was nothing!"

I would definitely stay there again. It really isn't that far from the lobby. If you go out the back door of the lobby, cross to Ole Man Island, pass the pool, cross to the other side and you are there. Piece of cake and you can check if the pool is busy. Also, we were close to the North bus stop. We always got a seat on the bus. Sometimes the people at the lobby bus stop had to wait for another bus.

Have a good trip!

I've been in building 35 & 38 and they were fine with me. Even better if you have a car.

We have stayed there several times, a couple of times with a water view room.
Aligator bayou we stayed in building 38 overlooking the river.
These buildings can accomadate 5 people as they have a trundle bed under one of the double beds, and we could see the river from our room.
We had a great view of the river and ol' man island.
I liked this the best when considering a water view room, and the bus stop wasn't much farther away.
Magnolia Bend we have stayed in building 90 waterview room.
They considered this waterview, because when you went outside you could look and see the river. However you could not if you were in your room.
Magnolia Bend building 85 no waterview and we looked out at the parking lot and East bus stop.
I liked 85 the best because of the bus stop location.
I prefer Magnolia Bend over anywhere else, but that's my opinion.
DH liked AB the best.
The flowers are wonderful to look at.
All our rooms have been close to the bus stops.
When we stayed in Magnolia Bend building 90 we just walked to the main bus stop by the lobby.
However if you are paying extra for a water view room be careful as they can consider a view of a quiet pool a water view room.
If they could get away with it they would consider a puddle a waterview.

When you check in and they show you where your room is don't be afriad to ask if another location is available.

Welcome to the Dis boards!

:welcome::welcome:

I am another supporter for Building 14 in Alligator Bayou. You just can't beat the location! We've stayed there a lot and request it everytime we stay at POR.

Thank you all for your input on this resort

I was not looking forward to my stay at this resort, but many of you have put my mind at rest, with your comment on this resort

Thank you all
Have a great day

We're staying a couple of days at POR at the end of our upcoming trip in 8 days :yay:. Originally it was CBR, but we got a better deal at POR for the two days.

All I know is we've got a "water view". Of course, that could mean a frog pond covered in muck :)

Any suggestions in that regard?

Ah, but at least it'll be a Disney frog pond, covered in Disney muck... :)

If you've got a water view booked, I'd suggest asking them if they can give you a river view rather than a pool view, the rooms overlooking the river have lovely views and are also generally the closer ones to the main building.

We stayed in POR for the first time this past February and were in building 25. It took about 5 minutes walking leisurely to get to the food court which wasn't all that bad in our opinion because it was a beautiful. The one positive thing we discovered accidently was we were right by the West Bus Depot which was great. We found out that the majority of the time it was always the first stop for the buses to any of the parks and we always got a seat. By the time we got to the stop at the front of POR it was standing room only every morning. Plus it was a short walk to the room after long days in the parks so carrying a half asleep wasn't too painful. :)
