So glad you enjoyed your stay...we arrive 12/16 for our first stay at POR. Currently we have RGR standard view booked. My DH and 13 yo DD plan to golf three times while we are there and I am a little concerned about her carrying her clubs back and forth to the lobby...is there a building you would suggest that I request to make this a little easier? Thanks.

There are only two buildings that have RGR and there's a path between them that leads to the main building so it's not going to matter one way or the other with standard view.

Just ask for close to the main building so that you might get closer to that path.

It's probably discussed somewhere in these posts but I haven't had time to sift through.
While doing online checkin, it asked me if I preferred a corner room, ground floor, second floor or top floor. We will be in Alligator Bayou, 2 adults, 3 kids aged 4, 5, 8. We are also travelling with another family and have requested building 16/17, we are garden view. During a phone call, I requested to have the rooms as close together as possible. Any advice as to which I should choose?

Thanks so much!

Any advice as to which I should choose?

It depends. Some people like the ground floor so that they don't have to deal with stairs or elevators. Some people like the top floor so that no one is walking above them. Some people like the top floor for a more panoramic view.

AB buildings don't have elevators so if you get a 2nd floor you will be doing stairs.

That may or may not bother you (seniors with bad knees, carrying the little ones half asleep up the stairs at the end of the night?).

I don't think they are massive flights but you know your party better than us.

I agree with bookgirl -- one building (Oak Manor vs. Paterre Place) isn't necessarily closer to the lobby/main building than the other -- at least with standard-view. It's more about where you happen to be located in that building. We we were on the farther side of Oak Manor and I didn't think it was far at all -- however, we weren't carrying golf clubs. ;) If I would've been on the same side of the building but in Parterre, I think I would've been closer to the main building. You probably just want to request close to the main building -- ground floor might not be a bad idea either because you may not be that close to the elevator and she probably really doesn't want to lug the clubs up and down stairs. Enjoy your stay!

So excited! We're leaving in the morning, will be "home" at POR by afternoon. Just had to share, so excited I could burst right now! Thanks to everyone for all the great tips - esp Andre & Venom. It was much appreciated!

Just a thought, but why not get Bell Services to store the clubs for you? Then they won't be cluttering up the room the rest of the time, and will be right there at the front of the resort for them to pick up to travel to the golf course (taxi?).

Thanks Andre, I didn't realize this was an option. Is this something I would request at check-in or prior to arrival? How much should I expect to pay for this service? I did request ground floor on my online check in and was going to fax a request for close to main building. Disney transports you to the course via taxi at no charge to the customer...just got get them to the lobby! And they have booked the earliest available tee times so I was concerned about the noise of clubs rattling around that early in the morning. I try to be a considerate neighbor. ::yes::

Nothing at all, Bell Services will keep things for you pre-arrival or during your stay if you wish. Just drop them to the Bell Services desk as you arrive at the main entrance (where Magical Express drops you off) and they'll give you a ticket for collection. Explain that you won't be needing them for a few days and there isn't really enough storage space in the room.

We are here now, and I was actually wondering about the East Depot. We have used East for MK, but South for all others. Twice this week, when we boarded a bus before park opening at the South depot (Epcot and HS), the bus exited Riverside without picking up at the East depot. They did S, W, N then exited before getting to East. Sounds like you were able to board an Epcot bus there, but I was curious about whether this happens often.

So sorry for the late response (haven't been on again 'til now). I was waiting for another bus two different times and saw Epcot buses stop. And then the day we went to Epcot, we also got on the bus to Epcot at the East depot. So I'm not sure what is up with that. Seems odd that they wouldn't stop at every busstop but it also seemed odd to not have it on the sign too.

I skimmed this thread and didn't see an answer, so sorry if this has been asked before.

We were unable to add another night to our original reservation at POR, so our TA added a one night stay to the beginning of our reservation, as a package with our park tickets. Then we have 4 more night reserved under a separate reservation. They should be linked in the system. Is there a way to directly contact POR a week or so before and give them a heads up. We're really hoping to not have to switch rooms, especially since we should, in theory, have groceries that need refrigeration.

If we are shopping in the parks and decide to buy a couple souvenirs (Christmas presents) & have them delivered to the resort is it correct that I pick them up at the resort gift shop? Just thought we might pick up a couple things for our daughters while there and hide them this way, that way hubby can pick them up later and pack them in the suitcase so they don't see them.

You could fax POR 3-5 days in advance of your arrival to ask that you are not moved. Be sure to include both reservation numbers. Andre has information on the first page of this forum. Also, Venomhatch has another thread devoted to faxes and a template for requests:

Checked out yesterday morning (12/1) after a 4 night stay in our beautiful Royal room. It was our first stay at POR, though we'd stayed at FQ twice before. We absolutely loved everything about the resort!!! Our Mousekeeper was wonderful and DD9 was thrilled with the towel bunny she received and the arrangement of her stuffed animals every day. We were in Parteree Place, room 9711. It was a corner room, very quiet and could not have been more convienent. We had a rental car, and never used the busses, so I cannot comment on bus service. We ate in the food court a few times and found all the food to be very good.

Our magic bands and FPP worked flawlessly. I was nervous, having heard stories from others about the bands not working. I loved being able to just swipe to enter our room, enter the parks and pay for food, drinks and merch. Our FPP picks were great. We made multiple changes on the fly and had no issues with them either.

The only issue I did encounter was in our refrigerator! We had one in our room that I think was new, because I found a strip of tape across the door. We stopped at Whole Foods prior to checking in to purchase allergy safe food for our trip. We filled our fridge and on the 2nd day we came back to our room to find that the power along that wall (dresser w/ tv, fridge and ceiling light over table) had gone out. I called it in and filled my cooler grocery bag with ice and transferred my food. Not knowing how long it had been out, or how long it would stay out, I didn't want to take chances. Maint. reset our power about 2 hours later and I restocked the fridge. The next day, we lost power to our entire room in the early morning. It wasn't very long, less than an hour, and I left the fridge full during this time. We went out that morning and came back midday to find that all of the food in our fridge had frozen solid!! For example, I had a box of 5 hard boiled eggs and ice had formed around all of them and frozen them into a block!! My daughters chicken tenders turned into Popsicles!!
We tried to thaw things out, but it most of what we had did not turn out well after being thawed.
I wound up losing about $50 worth of food.

I didn't speak with anyone at the front desk about these issues. We had such little time that I didn't want to use any of it over something that really couldn't be fixed. I'm wondering if I should contact guest relations now about the issue?

All in all, we had a magical time! It ended way too fast, and I cannot wait to return! We would absolutely return to POR!

Thank you. I can't contact them later than a week in advance since we'll be on a disney cruise. Do you think 7 days in advance is ok?

I'll give you the final verdict when I get back but I have stayed at POFQ twice and so far it is my favorite of the moderate resorts. POR is the only one I haven't stayed at. POFQ is nice and small, beautifully landscaped and I love the beignets!

Sorry it's taken me so long to post about this Joy!! :guilty: After staying at Riverside my verdict remains the same, I prefer French quarter. It was just a little crowded and sprawled out for me. I really enjoy the more laid back atmosphere of FQ. The dining hall in particular was a bit too much for my taste, lots of people, half of which standing around looking sort of lost. I can see the draw for families or people who want more to do but as I said before we rarely use the amenities outside of the quick service dining hall and that held true this trip. We didn't swim, only used the playground for about 20 min one morning to let the baby stretch her little legs and that was really it. The grounds are equally pretty at both resorts and while I haven't seen the newly renovated rooms at FQ I imagine they are pretty much the same, unless you spring for the Royal rooms at RS.

I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice but it comes down to crowded and sprawled but more to do closer or slower and quieter but a hike if you want more entertainment. Good luck!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

It probably would have been better to have had this issue with the fridge dealt with while you were there. Sorry. I think it's prob too late now.

So glad to be rejoining this group! Just booked for mid-May! We had a perfect location in oak manor last year. We are back and forth as to whether we go back to RGRGV or try preferred rooms. Can I get some pros and cons?

Nice having the extra bed with 2 young ones ( celebrating their birthdays there they are turning 5 and 7). Close to the food court and pool. Much less storage space though which is big concern.

Loved the rgr's we had a nice location but we could end up much further next time. Fun headboards. The east bus was great for MK days.

Any other thoughts or suggestions. We will need connecting rooms so getting requests might be harder than just one room.

Can't wait to go back we plan to do a lot we missed out last trip.
I think it's a personal pref. which theming you like. I don't care for the AB rooms, and prefer the theming of the mansion rooms more. We love Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House and think location is pretty central

Well, final packing is being done and we will be going to the airport around 4am and heading for Disney!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Really looking forward to staying at POR for the first time. Thank you Venom and Andre for all the great info on this resort, it was such a help!
Safe travels!

Well maybe I will be still in resorts when you revisit. Maybe I wont. I have displayed some interest to move up and have a few positions on my mind so I will still try to be active here.
Sounds mysterious!! And I was so looking forward to meeting you!
