Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

I am going to call Disney after dinner. I do have a reservation number thank goodness and it appears correct in the system. I cant check in online though, but I am sure that is no big deal. I finally got a response telling me I don't NEED my Mickey Mail, in a not so very nice way, and that she mailed it several days ago. I guess maybe I am crazy for wanting it, but, that part makes it all real for us. Builds our excitement. Unfortunately all this trip has done so far is give me an ulcer! Fingers crossed I am stressing over nothing, but regardless I will never ever use a TA again. Especially one that fires agents all the time and other things I am now hearing about said TA. :hourglass Time will pass quickly and hopefully its all set!

Oh no!! :-( I kinda know how you feel about the Mickey Mail, but the rest of the stuff the TA is horrible...

I'm a TA and my agency sent my Mickey Mail to the wrong address. But that was my fault. I forgot to give them my new address that I moved to recently. Now USPS has lost the package. I'm hoping Disney will send me a new one because I want my Mickey Mail, too. It does make it more special to get it at home then to get the package at the resort.

I leave in two weeks so I doubt they will be able to get it to me in time.

Good luck to you!!!

Yeah, but getting people there for a 9:10am appointment won't be a problem, and traffic will be light too. I'd definitely drive. Andre

Thanks. DW will be happy with one less ride on disney transportation ... although I think the boat would be fun if the timing was right.

Yeah they do... In the Mansions they do. I know its early for some people but wow.

I promise you there are elevators in the mansions towards the middle of each one.

It was early. When I think of Riverside, I think of AB. Sorry, but you really don't have to be nasty.

I am sorry about that. But we definitely don't want to mislead guests but yes, your right the AB area doesn't. Have a great rest of the day!

To answer the original question for future guests:

Elevators?:
Magnolia Bend aka Mansions (yes - there are mansions in the middle of each mansion building.)
Alligator Bayou aka smaller buildings (no they don't)

Thanks! That is what I thought. Just wondering if I should request 1st floor so I don't have to mess with luggage and steps.

Are you staying in the AB section or the mansions? Elevators in the mansions are about a minute or less from most rooms.

Thank goodness buzznina!

LOL. Of course the other option would have been to have checked the FAQ in the first post:

Alligator Bayou consists of 16 two-story buildings with 64 guest rooms in each (with room numbers 14xx to 39xx). As the buildings are fairly small, there are no elevators. The area is themed as a rustic backwater bayou, with dense foliage, meandering streams and pathways, small pools and pretty bridges. The rooms follow this rustic style and feature such themed items as bed-posts hewn from logs. Note: some people love this theming, while others comment that it feels rather ’basic’.

Magnolia Bend consists of four larger 256-room plantation style ‘mansion buildings’ (Acadian House, Magnolia Terrace, Oak Manor and Parterre Place - the latter two now completely devoted to the specially themed Royal Guest Rooms) laid out in more formal gardens with fountains and courtyards (room numbers 80xx to 95xx). The rooms are more ornate and plushly decorated, although the actual size and facilities provided are identical to those in Alligator Bayou - with the exception that the mansion building rooms do not feature an extra bed for a fifth person. The mansions are all three storied buildings near the main entrance (where the elevators are located) and two stories in the outlying blocks.

My reservation is for a river view garden room. Does anyone know if this is just a garden view room? Or a room with a view of the River?

You either have a river view or garden view. There is no combined rooms. There is no idea what room you have unless you have a special circumstance with Disney and they contacted you back and you confirmed a room with them.

As Venom has said, Garden View and River View are two different booking categories, you can't have both at once.

Do you think it could mean a Garden View room, at the Port Orleans Riverside resort? i.e. Riverside not Riverview?

Quick update :0) My fired TA kept her word I have the gift card from her ♥ The owner of the agency mailed me the mickey mail but I still dont have it, Saturday is the last mail day. I have come to terms that we may not get it and I get its unnecessary lol :) I guess I cant sweat the small stuff! What I can do is leave the agency a honest review :) Thanks for letting me vent and I can not WAIT for our first POR stay! Fingers crossed the weather warms up more :)

My reservation on my Disney experience say resort POR and room type it says Riverside-Garden View.
