Are there water fountains around the resort? Namely around pool area? We drink a lot of water so I'm thinking kids are going to want to refill often and I would hate to go back to the room to fill up!

There are not water fountains placed strategically ... we are big water drinkers as well...so we bring a case or two of bottled water... I throw a few bottles into our daily back pack before heading to a park ... You can have it delivered via Garden Grocer if you are flying in. You can recycle the bottles as well throughout the resort and parks...a win win scenario :)

I've never requested a building before and I know it's not guaranteed. My question is which is the best non-preferred building to request? Last time we were in building 37. It was great but quite a long (but beautiful walk) to the main pool and dining. Also, how long before your trip is the best time to fax your request?

Is it possible to request a 1:00 checkout? If so, what is the best way to do this? When you check in at the front desk in person? Or can you call from your room?
Thanks!

Had reservations for POR Preferred room but decided to arrive a day earlier so booked an extra day early but had to take a garden view room instead of preferred. worried I will be disappointed but really makes it easier arriving a day early. Anyone stay in garden view and how was the walk to main buildings?

I've stayed in almost all views at POR except Royal Rooms, and our stay last year in a garden view room was wonderful. It was a bit of a walk to the food court and main pool area, but it was a beautiful walk.

It is possible that since your POR garden view booking is only for one night, if they know you will be staying in a preferred view room for a longer stay starting the next day, they may put you into a preferred room that first night, allowing you to stay in it for the second reservation (with another "check-in" the next day), or you could at least ask if it is possible to pay to upgrade to a preferred room for that first night. Sometimes one night is easy for them to swing. I wouldn't count on getting a preferred the first night this way, but it may happen.

The refillable mugs....can we use those anymore at Disney? So if I have a dinner at another resort, I can fill it up at dinner and then get my beverage that's included in my meal to go?

There is another thread about this, but basically the rule is that you buy a mug for use at your own resort's food court, for the duration of your current stay only. This includes both the POR and POFQ food courts in this case. By the way, they sell exactly the same design of mug at all of the Disney resort food courts... ;) No further discussion here though please.

Are most of the rooms in Alligator Bayou connecting rooms? We are hoping for a non-connecting one.

About half of the rooms are connecting, you could always request a room without a connecting door if you are really worried (but I wouldn't be too bothered, there are two fairly solid doors between you and the next room).

Also, we have an overnight flight and arrive at 6AM We should be at the resort around 7am or so. I know our room won't be ready. We will pack park clothes in our carry on and change at the resort ( I assume there is a lobby restroom) However, what happens with our luggage? Does ME leave it with the resort?

Your room might be ready when you get there (which will probably be about 7:00-7:30am), especially if you have done online checkin, but if the resort is at 100% capacity at the time (which it has been for several months now) then the chances are lower.

ME will bring your bags to your room (you do not need to be present, unlike with Bell Services) but it can take a few hours. You can leave your carry-on bags with Bell Services in the meantime while you go to the parks if you wish.

I'm a little concerned about the lack of door between the vanity and sleeping area and I don't see a closet on the floorplan. Has anyone gone with a young child who is into everything?

There are no closets, just drawers in the unit under the TV. There is also a high-level shelf in the vanity area. The iron, ironing board and hair dryer are mounted on the wall so should be safe enough.

Otherwise, you need to do the same as you do at home, have eyes in the back of your head! :)

Pac'n'Plays fit fine by the way, either in the main room or in the vanity area if you want to curtain that off at night to help everyone get some sleep.

I think there might be some near the pool, but I'm not 100% sure. You could always ask for a cup of iced water from the pool bar of course.

Garden View rooms are all around the resort, some are further away than others though. Just put in a request for one close to the main buildings (e.g. in 16 or 17 in Alligator Bayou, or parts of Magnolia Terrace in the mansions). See the clickable maps at www.portorleans.org/maps-and-directions.php for more ideas.

However if the rest of your stay is booked as Preferred, make sure they know that this is a continuing booking and they might just be able to put you in the same room for the whole time anyway.

If you like Alligator Bayou, 16 or 17 would be good choices. See the first FAQ post or www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php for info on making requests (I suggest faxing about 3-5 days before you arrive).

Yes you can request it, but it's not always possible (your room might be needed for another guest arriving soon for example). If you have more than one room, they will normally only give you an extension on one of them though. Ask at the front desk (or phone if you wish) a day or two before you check out.

I don't like using plastic water bottles, we have our reusable water bottles that follow us everywhere!! Is the water out of the taps good?

Hello everyone. I recognize many of you from 1 year ago when many of us were waiting for our rescheduling of resorts due to the RGR not being ready. I cannot believe it has been over a year! Our stay at the GF was really great and we had TPV as well! This year we decided to do a 4 day BC and 3 day POR RGR and we are super excited to finally get to stay in the RGR. Our girls will be excited. They are 4 and 6. We are actually checking in at the RGR on DD's 4th birthday... any suggestions of what we can do for her? Do they have any ready made cakes at PO or should I pick one up at the BW Bakery before we leave BC? Nice to "see" some of you again, you were all so helpful last year.

How about a carriage ride!! We just got back from a split stay at POR and BWV and AKV. We loved POR!!

Perhaps I am not the right person to ask. I never drink the tap water in Florida...and I live here. If you are from the northern states you may likely notice that it tastes different and is warmer than you are used to.

Hi all -

My first POR vacation starts on Wednesday! I was wondering where there is a mailbox or somewhere to send out postcards? I've got 5 nephews I hope to send some WDW love!

Thanks!

Can you make microwave popcorn brought from home in the food court microwave?? Packing and was just wondering

I've been watching availability for a while and only Standard and King rooms are options for our stay in a week.

Anyone know about any large groups staying? POFQ has a ton of room types still bookable, so if we get stuck in a loud area I guess we can request a move down the river a bit and suck up the cost for some peace and quiet.

POR and CBR are looking nearly full and the deluxe's have limited availability, too. Regular season is busy :)

I noticed that too as I was checking online...hmmmm.....hope its not cheerleader overflow. I think CBR is a resort for the cheer and dance competition at ESPN but not sure why POR is so full next week!

edited to add: I checked Fri and preferred was avail and then last night it was pool and royal standard only and now it's just standard...maybe moving folks around and trying to book up the least expensive rooms....very odd!

I am grasping at straws here, but I bet a lot of people did their taxes at the last minute, either downgraded when they did not get what they expected, or got more and upgraded. A lot of people use tax returns for trips.

I was wondering if they were upgrading a few to free up the standard and GV because there were a bunch of RR available a couple of days ago.

I'd be ok if they needed my GV and moved us to POFQ GV...you know, just to help them out ;)
