The refillable mugs....can we use those anymore at Disney? So if I have a dinner at another resort, I can fill it up at dinner and then get my beverage that's included in my meal to go?
There is another thread about this, but basically the rule is that you buy a mug for use at your own resort's food court, for the duration of your current stay only. This includes both the POR and POFQ food courts in this case. By the way, they sell exactly the same design of mug at all of the Disney resort food courts...

No further discussion here though please.
Are most of the rooms in Alligator Bayou connecting rooms? We are hoping for a non-connecting one.
About half of the rooms are connecting, you could always request a room without a connecting door if you are really worried (but I wouldn't be too bothered, there are two fairly solid doors between you and the next room).
Also, we have an overnight flight and arrive at 6AM We should be at the resort around 7am or so. I know our room won't be ready. We will pack park clothes in our carry on and change at the resort ( I assume there is a lobby restroom) However, what happens with our luggage? Does ME leave it with the resort?
Your room might be ready when you get there (which will probably be about 7:00-7:30am), especially if you have done online checkin, but if the resort is at 100% capacity at the time (which it has been for several months now) then the chances are lower.
ME will bring your bags to your room (you do not need to be present, unlike with Bell Services) but it can take a few hours. You can leave your carry-on bags with Bell Services in the meantime while you go to the parks if you wish.
I'm a little concerned about the lack of door between the vanity and sleeping area and I don't see a closet on the floorplan. Has anyone gone with a young child who is into everything?
There are no closets, just drawers in the unit under the TV. There is also a high-level shelf in the vanity area. The iron, ironing board and hair dryer are mounted on the wall so should be safe enough.
Otherwise, you need to do the same as you do at home, have eyes in the back of your head!
Pac'n'Plays fit fine by the way, either in the main room or in the vanity area if you want to curtain that off at night to help everyone get some sleep.
Are there water fountains around the resort? Namely around pool area?
I think there
might be some near the pool, but I'm not 100% sure. You could always ask for a cup of iced water from the pool bar of course.
Had reservations for POR Preferred room but decided to arrive a day earlier so booked an extra day early but had to take a garden view room instead of preferred. worried I will be disappointed but really makes it easier arriving a day early. Anyone stay in garden view and how was the walk to main buildings?
Garden View rooms are all around the resort, some are further away than others though. Just put in a request for one close to the main buildings (e.g. in 16 or 17 in Alligator Bayou, or parts of Magnolia Terrace in the mansions). See the clickable maps at
www.portorleans.org/maps-and-directions.php for more ideas.
However if the rest of your stay is booked as Preferred, make sure they know that this is a continuing booking and they might just be able to put you in the same room for the whole time anyway.
I've never requested a building before and I know it's not guaranteed. My question is which is the best non-preferred building to request? Also, how long before your trip is the best time to fax your request?
If you like Alligator Bayou, 16 or 17 would be good choices. See the first FAQ post or
www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php for info on making requests (I suggest faxing about 3-5 days before you arrive).
Is it possible to request a 1:00 checkout? If so, what is the best way to do this?
Yes you can request it, but it's not always possible (your room might be needed for another guest arriving soon for example). If you have more than one room, they will normally only give you an extension on one of them though. Ask at the front desk (or phone if you wish) a day or two before you check out.
