So, for a Thursday arrival (June 20), would you fax your request on the Friday before or the Monday before? Thanks.

Please help me decide. The summer sale would save us about $400 if we switched from our current reservation at POFQ to a "preferred" room reservation at POR.

Need advice on the rooms, location, etc that would help me decide.
Is POFQ nicer? updated? more convenient? Please help!!!!!

Thanks
Karen

I just did that. It actually cost me $2.50 more to move to POR because I had booked a POFQ room at the AAA rate. I did it for 2 reasons. I want to spend time at a pool but I would prefer a 'quiet' pool rather than the only pool at FQ, as it will be just me. Also, I suspect that it will be better to take the boat to DDT from POR. If anyone can comment on the boat situation in July, I please do.

I was at POR for the first time in Dec. DH and I stayed at POFQ twice several years ago. I love them both.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We just switched our June ressie from POFQ to POR too~ three total packages (big family vacation)~ total savings of $950!!!!:banana::banana:
Got the standard view rooms and hoping for mansion side! We usually stay at POFQ, but the savings for POR vs. POFQ were too good to pass up! Been a while since we've stayed at POR~ excited to go back! :woohoo:

Could someone please tell me what a "preferred" room offers......is it location?
What would we be missing if we switched from POFQ garden view to POR preferred? Are there more pools at POR? Are they convenient to the preferred?
Is the restaurant close to preferred?

We are going in the summer and after walking at the parks all day we do not want to have to walk "miles" within the resort. Just trying to get a handle on the differences of the two sister resorts. The reason we selected POFQ months ago was because it was compact, easy to get around, easier for Disney transportation to the parks, etc.
Thanks so much!!!!

I saw this on another thread about POR...

"If you wanted a moderate we really liked POR also. The worst thing about them was the buses--not that we had long waits but they were really congested and no line to speak of so people would just walk in front of you even if you had been waiting."

Is this true ? I just want to be prepared !! :crowded:

We are 60 days out today:cool1:

I have swapped our ressies around of couple of times, and had to rebook once becuase we went from package to room only so my room request was lost. Should I call and add that request before I do online checkin? We booked garden view and would really like to be in the mansion section close to the bridge to Old Man Island. Should I word it this way or is there a better way to explain what i want?

:goodvibes Weeeee just booked our 1st stay at POR!!!!

Aug 6 - 13th (8days).... never stayed at a moderate (only POP) can't wait for the dd's to try the smores & bonfire, and do they do a disney movie night?

Cant seem to find that info anywhere would be awesome!

now to get the ADR's in order pirate:

We just booked our stay at POR for November. We are staying in a royal room but I am considering switching to a regular room. I am not sure if the royal room is worth the extra price. Anyone have any opinions on the royal rooms.

Hopefully we will not have to do this but are 5 plus an infant allowed in POR AB? It would be 4 adults a 3 year old and an infant.

No Mickey Mail yet.....only 23 days to go.....booked thru CAA.....they say no worries, but I can't help getting a little nervous.....getting so excited....first trip to Disney and POR

I'm not sure what is more exciting...that I finally caught up on this thread or that I now have a reservation at POR for Oct 4-14th!!! This will be our first time staying onsite!!! :cool1: I am really hoping that because we are onsite at such a nice resort, I can get my commando tour family to slow down a little bit on this trip and enjoy some of the more relaxing options Disney has to offer.

Thank you so much for all the information I've found in this thread, it has helped me SO much...although, the pictures do make it almost impossible to wait for our trip ;)

Anyone know where Venom is? I haven't "seen" him on here in awhile.

I like to know where Andre and Venom are at all times!!! :thumbsup2

I think I've read that it is allowed however, it will be very tight if you have to use a pack n' play. Our thread moderator Andre or others will be able to confirm allowable number of guests in an AB room.

We Booked through CAA last Feb (for our first trip!!!) and got our Mickey Mail, I think at about the 3 week mark .... I'd say if you don't have it by Friday, get on them again !

Could also (if you don't have it already) try and get your reservation/invoice number from CAA and call yourself.

Also, wondering if you could just take a boat down to FQ ..

You can see a recreation schedule on portorleans.org. It will be similar each month.

Well, its kind of true. There are covered areas with benches along the back. If it isn't crowded, people will take a seat on a bench. So, then there isn't much of a line. Enter a bus...people walking up will go right to the pickup area, bypassing the benches. They might get on first.

If you are a glass half-full kind of person, you would think, well, they can't know which bus the people on the benches were waiting for, they just saw the bus they wanted and hopped on. Which could be true. Each bus area goes to several destinations. If you are a glass half-empty person, you might think, "hey, those yahoos jumped right in front me!"

When its more crowded, people did kind of line up, which makes things easier. At least that was my experience in November.
