Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread - Royally Refurbished for 2011

I think I'm missing it somewhere so sorry if this question has a very obvious answer. The garden view is not the same thing as the 'standard' view right? Standard view on PortOrleans.org lists standard view as facing (or potentially facing) parking lots. It doesn't however list garden view as an option and standard isn't listed in the OP so I'm wondering if somewhere those two became one and the same?

I'm booked Jan 8-14 at POR with free dining in a queen bed gardenview room (going to request one of the refurbed mansions) but I am trying to determine if this category is a parking lot-facing category or not.

TIA! :goodvibes

Garden view is a new category that they created to go between standard--which may overlook the parking lot-- and preferred. Garden views are supposed to overlook gardens, courtyards, landscaping or bayou (so no parking lot)

I revised my ressie yesterday from PO-FQ (:( ) to POR to take advantage of the RO discount and requested Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace, since these are, for now, the two refurbished buildings.

See you there over Marathon Weekend!

Sweet, thanks Maura! I wanted to assume as much about garden view but I had no real basis to assume anything (and assuming with Disney usually doesn't work out well).

We're going to request the same mansion. How long are you staying? We're only doing the half so on the day of the full we'll be checking into POR for the FD offer (got RO at Pop for the first part so we can spend some time with my parents who are staying there).

Hey fellow Michiganders....Where are you from?

I'm from Tecumseh...In Lenawee county.

That was the most stressfull game ever! I'm so glad they're heading home now!

Marine City, in St Clair County - where at least we've got a high school team worth rooting for when the Lions let us down.

Tonight's game is going to be a nail-biter for sure! I would like to personally hunt down the person who thought up 8:37 start times for playoff games; I'm losing too much sleep to this series!

Saylan I'm coming from Friday to Tuesday. I'm volunteering for the half and running the relay on Sunday (assuming I finally sign up for it!) Hope to meet you at the Pop meet.

travelgoddess and Colleen27 I cannot make myself sit and watch the whole Tigers game. I have to go hide and then tune into Dan and Jim on the radio. Too keyed up. Hope Fister pitches well like he has during the season. As a native Bostonian, I "dislike intensely" the Yankees. (My mother always said "don't say hate, say dislike intensely"!)

Hello POR experts! Well we have booked a FD package for Feb! Yay! So, it is my family of 5, me, DH, DD15, DD11, and DS5. When I booked, the only available room category was Garden View, which described the room as having 2 queens. No mention of doubles, no mention of trundle, or any other bedding options. Are the garden view rooms only in the mansions?

Honestly the two queens would be perfectly acceptable to me (as DS5 usually finds his way into our queen sized bed at home anyway!) I'm just hoping I get the two queens as offered and not put in an unrefurbed AB room.

Thanks for any input/info!!

....GO YANKS!....

Oh! I didn't realize there was a Pop meet. I'll have to try and make time for it for sure! We might bump into each other if we both get our POR room requests, though.

Do you know what your volunteer assignment is for the half? Maybe I'll see you. We (DBF and I) were thinking of doing the relay but he felt with the half that's too much running back to back. I'm still debating, but my parents will be down to watch me run so I don't want to have them sitting around too much for a 30 second glimpse. :rotfl:

You should totally do it. If for no other reason than to have the inaugural medal. I'm sure it'll be loads of fun!

As soon as anyone gets pics of the refurb in AB will you please post them! I also would love to see the new 'trundle' bed. AB seems so big....id there a building I should request??

If it was acceptable to jump up and down at work I would so be doing it right now.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!

:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

That's a lot of jumping up and down! I am jumping up down and I am still 140+ days out.

Kind of an odd/dumb question.....lol. I know I saw pics on this thread but it moves so fast, I have no idea how much farther back they would be.
I'm trying to decide if we should bring some small Christmas decor for our window(s) on our trip. So, I was looking on ebay & found some Disney Christmas window clings. Now, there is one only window in each room, right? It isn't a double? I was looking at my pics of our room back in 2007 & it got cut off, lol. I am 98% postive it's one window but I want to make sure I bring enough clings.

I have seen that they have a kiddie pool at POR, but what is the depth? My almost 5 yr old is tiny (40 inches), so would she be able to stand in it? TIA!

I believe it is 1.5ft. deep, maybe 1ft. It's like a baby pool that your talking about, right?

Been Awhile. Away on business and man its good to be home.
Back to random shots...another from the general store.
