Andre, I think Venom is begging to take pictures, whether you need them or not, LOL.

Haha I agree!

Venom, I would love you to take some pictures. I am so excited about our trip - the resort looks wonderful and everyday I hear such great stuff about the staff there, more so than any other resort. It is going to be the perfect place for my parents 42nd wedding anniversary :goodvibes I'm not sure who is more excited about the Royal rooms - my 11yr old daughter or my 62yr old mother :rotfl:

Yeah I hear ya. The fiancé and I are more excited than our little one.

We are a family of 4 Me, DH, DS9, DD3 we have already gotten the kids all ready for the Royal Rooms and they are so excited but my mom wants to go now which is great and we are happy but didn't know if we can still stay in the Royal room we have a toddler cot that our 3yr old sleeps on so we wouldn't need a murphy bed but I didn't know if they will let you do that. Thanks!!!

I don't think they will as your daughter is not under 3. I think that's the cut off. Someone else may know more. As far as I understand, you'll be in the Alligator Bayou area.

Three sleeps in my own bed then I get up really early to get on a plane... That night I'll be sleeping in a bed at Port Orleans Riverside for the first time!

No, you will exceed the room occupancy. Once a child hits 3, they are no longer considered an infant and count towards room occupancy.

Have you considered your Mom getting her own room and asking a friend?

With your mom, you'd be in the Alligator trundle bed rooms. My girls have seen the rooms online though and love them. They love the alligator and think the "Princess and the Frog" theme is cool. good luck!

We are here now in AB building 35. The Murphy bed mattress is attached with Velcro and can be removed. It is 25 inches high and lower than the queen beds. My 4'8" and 70 pound 9 year old fits great and loves it!

Thanks so much for this info GoofyMom - I come across this question so often I can see me cutting and pasting your post A LOT :teeth:

Thanks everyone for the help. I wish dad would go and they could get their own room but he has knee issues and doesn't want to walk and all his life his job was outside so now he just likes to be inside in AC :)

Hmmmm :scratchin Methinks I will have to try this .... I will report back :teeth:

PLEASE do lol I will be ever so (in)patiently be waiting. I'm not a fan of Starbuck...I'm a Maxwell house girl but at this point I'm will to try anything.

oh and I take my coffee very light and very sweet...hubster is always saying you want some coffee with that sugar and half n half lmao

Minor annoyances: High Speed Internet Access is no longer available.

I had also booked a King Bed through Expedia but was told that when Expedia passed my info along to the hotel, they had me down for a regular Garden View room.

Shame about the wired HSIA, I wish they had kept it too but I believe it was supplied by an external company so I guess it wasn't worth keeping on. Personally I'd have just connected the same wires straight into the Disney Network Switches that they must have in each building, but hey I guess it's all extra cost.

I've heard the same sort of stories about Expedia from some resort CMs too. They regularly find that guests have been promised things that are just not in the booking, and even that Expedia have never been allocated to sell at all (and sometimes not even possible at the resort).

Andre, PO is my families favorite resort. I know quite a bit about it. I'm looking for additional pixie dust ideas for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. It will be their first time staying onsite. Also, the day of arrival is their actual anniversary date. I plan to do a carriage ride, the anniversary button and I am aware of Disney florist. What other ideas do you have? My budget is not unlimited.

The carriage ride is a lovely choice, plus maybe a ferry boat ride down the Sassagoula River for a meal somewhere at Downtown Disney? There are lots of other non-POR activities too of course, such as a spa treatment, fireworks cruise, etc but those options start to get pricey.

Andre - which is your favourite? POR or POFQ? And why? If you had to choose!! :)

POR is my favourite. I could go into lots of detail... the extra restaurant, larger/nicer food court, more varied theming and building styles, lusher landscaping and walking paths, the extra pools, the fishing hole, bike & boat rentals, horse-drawn carriage rides, Ye Haa Bob playing in the evenings... but you know what, I think when it comes down to it, many people just seem to prefer the first section that they happened to stay in, and for us that was Alligator Bayou. So far me, the initial charm factor of POR wins.

So say, Andre, if you wanted multiple pools, where would you stay? If you like little walking and need beignets till they are coming out your ears, where would you stay.

Darn it, I like both!! I think I'll just pitch a tent next to the Sassagoula Circle road bridge, and stay in "no man's land". :)

Shame about the wired wi-fi, I wish they had kept it too but I believe it was supplied by an external company so I guess it wasn't worth keeping on. Personally I'd have just connected the same wires straight into the Disney Network Switches that they must have in each building, but hey I guess it's all extra cost.

Andre

First I couldn't resist this, there is no thing called "wired wifi". Wired would be ethernet network, or traditional Internet. I like the idea of wireless Internet, but there is so much interference that is generated from devices, so at a place such as a resort you are faced with everyone connected to it at the same time.

With the wired one I never saw any loss in speed.

Typo corrected, ooops.

I was never overly impressed with the speed of the cabled HSIA (just 1 Mb/s) but at least it was consistent.

Andre

Yeah sometimes it's not about the speed, just having it always there! I agree.

Andre, My family and I just recently stayed at POR and loved it. We were in bldg 15 which our room had the murphy bed. I'm in the process of planning vacation for next year which other families will be coming along. I'm trying to convince everyone to stay at POR but I wanted to get your advice. My aunt and uncle have 3 kids - 19,14,11. When I did the online price your reservation, I chose POR and it looks like they could stay in a single room with the murphy bed. Do you think this may be a tight fit for all 5 to be in one room? Help please. :confused3

Myself, DD16 and her friend also16 are going to WDW and staying in POR...1 week and 1 day :thumbsup2

We want the mansion rooms and have booked Garden view. We do not want the Alligator bayou section as we don't care for the themeing. What are our chances of us "girls" getting the Mansions...my dd16 will be dissapointed if we don't. I looked at on-line check-in and did not see anything about asking for specific room locations/buildings etc. Should I wait and check -in when we get there about 4pm in the afternoon and just ask then.

What about switching a day into our stay if we don't get the mansions like I prefer :rolleyes2

Keeping my fingers crosses that we get a Mansion Room !:thumbsup2 Thanks :thumbsup2
