I'm sad to say we are canceling the trip. We just cant afford it. We just got our final college bill for both of my older girls ... yikes! Their education is more important.

We are planning a short trip to Myrtle Beach in April so its not like we arent going on ANY vacation.

We will try to go back in 2015...2014 we are going to Aruba with another couple to celebrate our anniversaries.

I will still pop in every now and then to hear about your trips and plannings

I agree education is more important. I feel for you having to cancel, we had to cancel ours this year because my son had to have unplanned surgery, so we were kinda bummed this year. And any way to "get away" for any kind of vacation is good also so at least you get to go to Myrtle Beach.

Think of it this way, 2015 will be here sooner than you know:thumbsup2

I posted a separate thread about this, but I thought the POR fans would find it funny.
Apparently, the AKL Jambo House is in the woods near the entrance to POR. :rotfl:

[A fellow Dis-er has already reported it to Google as wrong. :thumbsup2 ]

Not related...(but that's really funny!) ON this map, the small foot bridge next to Parterre Place....is that bridge open to guests? It looks like a very quick way to get to the main building from the Royal guest rooms.

Yeah all bridges in POR are open to public. There is one bridge that you may be able to cross between Parterre Place and POFQ. But that bridge is shared by cars and buses.

Hope you do stick around, I'll miss your refreshing posts :flower3:

Noooooooooooooooooo! I am sorry. I actually do feel bad. I agree education is very much so almost a mandatory requirement for employment in anything above McDs.

Congratulations though on the Aruba Trip and the Anniversary!!!

Myself, DD16 and her friend also16 are going to WDW and staying in POR...1 week and 1 day :thumbsup2

We want the mansion rooms and have booked Garden view. We do not want the Alligator bayou section as we don't care for the themeing. What are our chances of us "girls" getting the Mansions...my dd16 will be dissapointed if we don't. I looked at on-line check-in and did not see anything about asking for specific room locations/buildings etc. Should I wait and check -in when we get there about 4pm in the afternoon and just ask then.

What about switching a day into our stay if we don't get the mansions like I prefer :rolleyes2

Keeping my fingers crosses that we get a Mansion Room !:thumbsup2 Thanks :thumbsup2

You make requests when you make your reservations up until about 3 - 5 before you check-in, when rooms are assigned. Just asked for mansions; you will either be in Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace.

Please don't be a stranger to the POR family.

Yes, I stayed in Parterre Place two years ago and it is a nice way to get to the front of the main building and marina. I did an all resorts, no parks trip, so it worked perfectly for me. There are also some nice benches along the way, to sit and watch the water taxi go by in the evening.

Enjoy!

Aww, what a bummer! But stuff happens.. We are going to see our son in Montana soon, which is a long ways away, and he just learned he has to work our last two days there and he can't say no to Uncle Sam.

Just keep visiting here, I do, and I have no plans to vacation at POR, LOL.

Woohoo! I have finally read all 125 pages of this thread. Thank you to all who have contributed, especially Andre.

When we were booking, we originally wanted POR Royal Room, but it was already full of free dining offers. We booked Caribbean Beach, but was able to switch after 4 calls back (one week between each call) to check on availability. :cool1:

It is our first stay at a moderate, and my parents first visit to Disney World. My parents don't know that we were able to make the switch and I'm not sure we will tell them ahead of time. My mom grew up in Louisiana and was disappointed when we weren't able to book it originally. I had finally gotten her sold on CBR. I think it will be a great surprise. Happy Trip Planning everyone! :goodvibes

Just to double check, we are arriving Saturday morning about 10:30!!! We can check in at that time, right? They just may not have our room ready yet.

I feel like I've been planning this trip
Forever and it's finally getting closer! We've booked a king bed room for 12 nights in sept (free. Dining yay) and have requested AB (I love the rustic look and the secluded ness, we're planning on a lot of relaxing time )

I have a question about the movie nights. I know they play Disney movies on the lawn some nights. Do they do this every night and at about what time? Is it on a movie screen? Or a roll in TV (like in school. Lol). Are there chairs or should we bring toWels from the room to sit on?
We're contemplating this one evening on one of our rest days. Maybe ordering pizza and having dinner during the movie (has anyone done this. Is it allowed or will we get kicked out?)

Thanks so much! Getting sooo excited :woohoo:I

yes you can check in that early. I believe you can check in after 6am...your room might not be ready. But thats ok 'cause you can leave your things with bell services and go to the parks or just hang out at the pool.

Does it really make a difference if you call in to POR a few days before arrival for requests. Do they really look at it or should we just check in & make our requests again & wait for a room during the day? (I made 2 requests on the actual resv when I booked).

I have, and I get the requests so far fulfilled. No problems.

Sorry of this has been asked before but what # do you call to get the resort directly? Thank you. Believe it or not I want a parking lot view because we are driving & its easier to get to the car each morning & evening after the parks. Also requested as close to main building as possible so hoping for 16 or 17.
