If my hands are full, this still does not help me. Let me know when it unlocks the door and actually turns the knob and opens the door for me, then you will get me on board:laughing:

I have only used this system in hotels/resorts that have a handle not a round knob. Believe me, pushing the handle down is very easily done with an elbow.

What happens if mousekeeping is walking by, since they have a master card, will all the doors they pass start unlocking:rotfl:

Oh that would be very interesting ... especially if the door makes a small noise when unlocked (a click or soft beep or anything). Can you imagine standing there changing with the DND sign out and hear the door unlock because mousekeeping/security/management/etc just walked past? :lmao:

We have this type of entry for several of the secured area in our large church. The card is swiped near the "receiver" and the door will unlock for a certain number of seconds before it automatically re-locks.

Wow I wonder if this will be a pro or a con! It would be nice if you dont have to reach in and pull it out if your hands are full or something.

As long as the system works, I can't see any real downsides. Sounds great to me. I wonder whether they put the necessary wiring in during the refits?

Andre

The keycard would need to be passed very close to the lock sensor. Ours at work need to be within a couple of inches for example.

I wonder if they did too. Most of the time if they were talking about planning on this they at the very least have the locks to work like that so they just need to get the cards.

Hello-thinking of staying at POR next year and requesting a RGR in Oak Manor. It's difficult to tell looking at the map - which is the best type of room to book (river view?) for access to main building, pool, and bus stop (I'd prefer South depot stop since it's first (sometimes after POFQ?) pickup. FIL has some mobility issues so looking for something convenient (walking wise). TIA!

Ha! I'm watching Millionaires Listings and this guys cellar door opens after scanning his eyes! His eyes, I say!

See, my over-complicated thinking could have been very feasible :p

It's my understanding that the system Disney is using requires you to touch the lock sensor with your KTTW card. You just can't wave it in front of the door. Disney installed this system on the new cruise ships, the Dream and Fantasy.

Public places are no longer able to have knobs; you are correct. They must have lever handles in order to accommodate h.c. individuals.

Also all sinks are required to have lever handles.

It is the law. Disney is very progressive when it comes to following the h.c. accessible laws.

I just hope they don't have a bunch of construction happening again at POR when we are planning on being there end of May next year.
