In post #1 you state that ALL room have 2 queens.

Yes, you're right, I did. And I wrote it in red. And in bold text too. Just in case anyone missed it. In fact, here it is again:

Room Refurbishments, 2011/2012 (Information updated 24 June 2012)

There are now NO non-refurbished rooms left at the resort, the last ones having been closed on 24 June 2012. All rooms now feature two Queen Beds instead of the old doubles (or a single King Bed if you have booked that option) and all Alligator Bayou rooms now feature a pull-down Murphy bed instead of the old trundle bed.

:) :)

:lmao: sarcasim... my most favorite tool. :thumbsup2

Didn't miss it...Big... Red... and Bold...

Just conflicting information vs pictures. Clearly the Picture for AB in post #4 is a Double bed (foot of bed only)...which seemed to confirm what I had heard elsewhere.

You can leave everything with Bell Services, however by 11am I think you stand a good chance of getting your room there and then. No guarantees of course, but the Ready Room system really does help people who are arriving early (as long as you are not fussy about too specific a room location anyway).

Thanks for that - that would work perfectly. We (me, hubby, daughter) have a 'garden view' booked and my parents have a disabled friendly roll-in shower 'water view' and a request of Oak Manor so it really doesn't matter where they are located in the building, just that we get those.

Hi,

My daughter is going to Disney in December and are staying at Port Orleans Riverside. They are trying now to figure out which buildings to request their room to be in and can't figure out which area to go with. The room needs to have a king size bed but i would figure there would be a king sized room in at least one of each building? Preferably she would like a room close to the bus stop but not in one of the preferred buildings that you have to pay more for.

Also which part of the resort did you guys like best...the magnolia (plantation section) or the most rustic side of the alligator bayou?

Just trying to figure out buildings that aren't too much of a walk from everything.

Thanks!

For the mansions, Magnolia Terrace is probably most convenient. I'm sure others will chime in about Alligator Bayou.

LOL, glad you enjoyed it... :)

Nope, the picture of the new room shows the end of a queen bed:

The Queen must have been on a diet. :lmao:

Guess it will take a photo with a Tape Measure to convence me... :teacher:

Still looks very narrow compared to the Queens pictured in the Magnolia Bend Photo.

Thanks for the great info in this thread. I'm a CSR guy... but since POR has Queens now... thought it might be worth a look. :thumbsup2

Dude, I thought I was anal retentive.

As long as she has booked and paid for a King Bed room (there is an extra fee for those rooms) then she can put in a request for anywhere in the resort (including preferred locations, river views, etc - POR do not add any extra surcharges on top of already surcharged rooms).

Obviously requests are never guaranteed, but the King Bed rooms are located within all of the other category choices, so there's a good chance her request could be met. As there are relatively few King Bed rooms, I'd suggest asking for WHAT/WHERE you want, rather than a specific building number.

Personally, I'd just request "river view, close to main building if possible", which would either get them a nicely located room in the mansion buildings, or perhaps a river view in one of the preferred locations in Alligator Bayou. Asking to be near to a bus stop could backfire and get her a parking lot room at the back of Acadian House (which admittedly would be very close for the North bus stop, but possibly not quite what she wanted).

We're planning on coming back to POR to rest and swim most days of our vacation. Is there enough variety at Riverside Mill to have lunch 3 times over 10 days and not get tired of it?

I don't think I could ever get tired of their food!

I've read that the trundle can sleep a child up to 5 feet 2 inches... so if you compare the size of the bed to the trundle-- it does look like a queen. (It helps that I have a child who is exactly 5 feet 2 inches and can compare with our queen bed!)

I read the menus already, just wondering if it will get old going to the Mill 3 times.

I have to say I miss the breakfasts at the restaurant. The omelets and the sweet potato pancakes were the best. I still make them for my mom every year, since we went in 2004.

The omelet station alone is awesome. But to mix it up a bit, do a few QS at the parks. The menus are on this site.
