I hope you love POR! Have a great trip!

I did want to mention that when I looked at your kids' ages, I worried a bit about the walk from building 38. Building 16 is a bit closer and my kids are 11, 12 and 15. If you use an umbrella stroller around the resort when tired it might be helpful.

Thank from the map 16 or 17 would work also. I will probably call today. My older Dd hasn't used a stroller in Disney for 2 years. But we still bring a small one for my youngest. She is a bit on the lazy side.. Dh don't want to bring it but I'm making him. I already told the girls they would have to take turns on the bed..

We have 3 resort days planed with one of those we are going to then500 pm HDDR then MSEP after. But he other 2 are resort days. Can we use the pool at POFQ? I think I read somewhere the answer is yes but I want to make sure.
Also how much is the cane fishing at POR? I think my girls would enjoy that. I also made a ADR at boatwrights the menu looked good anyone eat there recent and as the food good? We are doing a lot of character dining this trip I also have Rainforest the girls want to skip t-rex this year.. Sorry to be full of questions but does anyone have a link to the resort activities? I know it will be different but I would like to get a idea.

Thanks

Just made reservations for a Royal Room, standard view in September. Are there any special requests I should make as far as which building? Is one better than the other? Are these rooms far from buses and food? It is just for one night, but any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I dont know about Partierre place(sp?) But we stayed in Oak Manor before it was switched to RGR and loved the location! Convenient to the East bus depot and the lobby/food court/ and south bus depot! I might request OM again since in Nov we will be staying in a RGR:)

Oak is closer to Quiet pool and main pool. I personally have only stayed in P place but loved it both times and South bus stop was closest.

Can I ask if you ran into alot of problems with full buses hitting the East Depot? We're normally @ RD about 45 minutes prior, so I'm not sure that it will be a big issue, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Fax just sent through the net at gotfreefax.com :)

Requested a Refurbed AB room, preferrably Building 38, with 16 and 17 as hopeful backups.

Fingers crossed it went through alright.

I noticed the fax website seemed to drop the leading 1 on the number, but suspect that makes no difference

Make sure you call and have your requests noted on your reservation. Most resorts do not look at faxes anymore, they throw them away, because of the sheer number that come in. Calling is the best way to have your requests noted.

wow - that was fast.

Just got an email from them

I received your fax and have assigned you a room in building 38 as requested. Have a safe trip over and enjoy your stay.

awesome stuff - thanks guys :)

Very impressive how fast, and never expected an email back from them :)

Port Orleans however, as I've mentioned before, do look at faxes if they possibly can. But I quite agree that the first thing to do is always to get your requests added to your original booking, you never know whether your arrival time might be very busy and they may not to able to get around to checking faxes.

Great! Sounds like you are all set to go then - have a great time at the Port! I've still got three months to wait. :(

The first stage of the Port Orleans Riverside Lobby Refurbishment has now been unveiled and I've got a few photos I've been told I can share.

Work will continue on the other side of the lobby very soon, and during that phase checkin facilities will be at the new desks while concierge services will be operating from in front of the River Roost Lounge. The likely completion date is now looking to be around 22 June according to Bob Jackson's revised schedule.

These new desks are currently located where the old online checkin was situated, but eventually that section will be empty and they will be moved over to where the current front desk is. There are a few elements which still need to be added, such as light poles and a foot bar across the bottom:

The new floor tiles are on the left, the older ones on the right. The original carpet (see above) is due to be replaced during the next phase too:

thanks - looking forward to it - mind, I'm sure after 3 weeks of theme parks and noisy kids, I'll be needing a holiday when we return :)

nope never a full bus. I do remember more than one MK,Epcot bus though

A question about the Royal Rooms. It looks like Oak Manor is the best building to be closer to the Main building. What number is Oak Manor? Also, does anyone know of a map with the room numbers on it? I used such a map when planning our ASMU stay. I cannot recall where it is located but I got it from DIS boards. It showed room numbers and connecting rooms and king beds and handicapped rooms too. Any such map for Port Orleans?

May I also ask how the headboard fireworks work? Is there sound too? Is there a button to turn it on and off (I would think LOL!).

When you check in with the Magical Express is there help to get your luggage to your room?

I just love the Royal Rooms-never stayed anywhere but ASMU before!

Thanks for your help.

Andre - Did you do a TR on your trip out west. That would be a great read. Sorry I must have mixed up the years for your trip.

Are all the rooms non-smoking rooms?

Just read on a website where it says

Which buildings are smoking?
Oak Manor, buildings 18 & 38 are smoking buildings.

Surprised if thats the case, as normally expect all places these days to be nonsmoking.

While we don't smoke, it wouldn't bother us too much, just curious tho

From what I've read no rooms at all are smoking rooms on property. There are designated smoking areas though.
