Do you know if they still allow you to use 2 dining CS credits for 1 large pizza, 2 drinks, and 2 deserts? Will be perfect meal to reenergise us after the long flight back

Even though its 2 adults and 2 children, I'm guessing they wouldn't have an issue with us getting 2 (1 cheese, 1 pepperoni), and insist would have to get the smaller kid options instead with us having kids....worst case 2 trips I guess

This is my first time posting here but I've been using this thread for planning our first trip to disney for quite some time. Thanks to Andre and everyone else for your wealth of information.

I have a couple of questions and I'm sorry if they've already been asked but I'm not sure how to search.

1. Are pool view rooms very noisy? How is room noise in general especially on the first floor with someone above you? I booked a water view room but now I'm second guessing myself. I'll have twin 3 year old sons who will definitely need afternoon naps and my daughter will be 6 and I'll want her to rest at least. Some noise isn't a problem but if it's very loud I think I'll switch to a garden view.

2. My MIL lives about a hour and a half way. She plans on coming to the park a day with us. Is it ok if she visits us at POR? Would it be okay if she watched the kids in our room while we went out in the evening? She would NOT be spending the night.

Just at POFQ. They're worth the walk though - or you could run, and it'd probably be about calorie-neutral that way.

They won't care who eats what, a credit is for the food - a child-size meal costs a child credit, even if one of the adults then eats the food. Apart from buffets that it - those you need to use age-appropriate payments.

That was last year, for the D23 Expo. My first ever trp to the west coast, and I loved Disneyland (and the Walt Disney Family Museum).

At Riverside, not really. You'll be overlooking a quiet pool rather the main one, and they generally really are pretty quiet - and those room doors are fairly solid anyway. I think you'll be fine.

No problem at all. She can visit any time, and look after the kids while you are out (just make sure you leave her a keycard though!). I very much doubt if anyone would even bat an eyelid if she took the kids down to the pool either, as she'll have a keycard anyway.

True, they mostly won't care, but I know that each credit is indistinguishable from adult/child....as they just show up as a total number of credits (will be 168 CS and 168 snack credits when we go (2 + 2 per person per day). We tried to keep on track with it last holiday about 3 yrs ago, but towards back end, as where we ate became scattered about depending on them being fussy etc......so technically at the back end of the holiday we quite possibly got more 'adult' credits than child.......unless of course thats changed in the past year or so?

I know, that when you go with a family of 4, they'll make you choose from the child menus, which isn't a problem....but all 4 of us sharing 2 large pizzas, using 4 credits, wondered if they'd want to make the kids get from the kids menu........ but erm yup, end of day, can't see it being a problem. Hi, yeah - if go to counter, they will indeed make you order 2 adults and 2 kids.....but they never actually listed credits seperately. If each person was given 2 credits per day, your slip used to just say how many credits in total you had......nothing about how many adult credits and how many child credits you have. At times throughout the course of 2-3 weeks sometimes we'd have something, sometimes the kids would have some....so after a while you'd lose track of how many of each you actually had, as your receipt would just say something like "you have 25 snack credits remaining and 34 counter service credits remaining". I did read though that they actually did not seperate them at all.....so technically you could (but shouldn't) use every single one for an adult meal. Guess thats why they also say 'wherever possible you should order from a childs menu where available' or words to that effect, as not all places do kids options, and can therefore choose the same stuff, so probably why they keep them together.

Only reason wondered about the pizza scenario mind, is that it would be 4 credits used, and therefore they may query thinking getting adult meal for kids, when option is available for kids.....but really, still only getting for 1, just being greedy and having a full pizza

Guessing they still operate the same way (never had a pizza last time we were at Disney hence the curiosity) erm, anyway, a bit off topic sorry

Depends on which side of the pool you are, but around 10 minutes.

We are a family of five staying at AB with a garden view(non preferred). We are driving and don't eat at the main building often so distance to it is not a factor. We definitely want a refurbished room and are going the first week of June. We stayed in Bldg 25 before and enjoyed the proximity to one of the bus stops but I don't think it will be refurbished by then. So we thought about Bldg 24. From what I remember from a prior trip being right next to #25, it seemed good. Am I missing another building that meets our desires and could be better? Again we want to be able to relatively quickly get to the parking lot as well as a bus stop because we will probably drive to all parks other than MK.

My first post here but I have been pouring over this and other threads for a few months now! Andre, thanks so much for all your info and your website rocks!

I am staying in a Royal Room in August (got a great Military discount!!!) with my daughter & my nephew. Our first time staying here and we are super excited. My sister lives in FL and will be coming up on our last full day to pick him up. Will we have a hard time parking her car there? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much for your response. I think I'm going to ask for 38. Iwas debating between AB and the mansion section also. I like the looks of both rooms but I think the girls we get a kick out of the trundel bed. If it was me and hubby I think I would do the mansion section.

My kids liked the new trundle. I'll bet yours will too. I never used to care anything about the mansions but since they've refurbished them, I'd really like to stay on that side. A maid let me into a new room while we were there in March and I really thought they were pretty. I think you're right though about the kids and the trundle.

I will say that I checked out the menu on for the food court. I'm so excited about the make your own salad. I think I will be in heaven. I think pop has a great food court but the salads were just ok. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the food court. There were many nights when my family wanted to wait to eat til we got back instead of counter service in the parks.

The first page of this thread has been so helpful. I stayed at POR but it was back in 1993 and I don't recall much about it. We usually go with POFQ.

I hope you love POR! Have a great trip!

I did want to mention that when I looked at your kids' ages, I worried a bit about the walk from building 38. Building 16 is a bit closer and my kids are 11, 12 and 15. If you use an umbrella stroller around the resort when tired it might be helpful.

She'll have no trouble at all, there is ample parking at POR even when the resort is completely full. She'll need to show some ID at the security gatehouse and say that she's visiting a current guest, or even just wanting to look around the resort; it's just a formality though, and they will let her in easily.

Might be an idea for her to follow the signs to the main checkin lobby area, and park and meet you there first. Until you know the layout of the place it can be difficult working out the best place to park to be near your room.

I was on the ground floor of Bldg. 38 and it was very quiet. The ceilings are nice and high, and they must be really well insulated because I never heard anyone over us at all. We didn't set an alarm for the morning, thinking we'd be woken up by the folks around us getting up & at 'em & heading for the parks. Not so! It was so quiet, we slept until almost 8:30!

One thing to note if you're concerned about noise is something WITHIN the room: the toilet has the loudest flush of any I've ever encountered. It's almost like a mini-explosion in the bathroom, very abrupt & startling when you're not expecting it. I can see it waking someone up, especially someone sleeping on the bed closest to the bathroom. If necessary during nap time, non-sleepers could make the very short walk over the bridge & use the restroom at the Muddy Rivers lounge.
