Just made our final payment this morning! Can't wait! This will be our first stay at POR and I'm looking forward to it. Here's hoping those Royal Rooms are ready by March 26th! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

(although I wouldn't complain if we got an upgrade either;))

hubster is BEYOND ridiculously excited now. He ordered "Proclaim Her A Princess" package from Disney Floral to be delivered the day we get there...

He's really going all out for our daughter who is also known as "your royal highness" in our house :lmao:

We also ordered this with her name embroidered that we are gonna give to her a few days before we....thats when we will surprised her with this trip.

Maybe we'll bump into each other at Yee Haw Bob's, me singing and making a total fool of myself!

Maybe. Ill be the one carrying all the camera equipment. With a mickey limegreen tag hanging from my camera strap.

1 week from today we'll be checkin' in!:banana:

We are getting sooo excited for our first onsite trip!

POR looks like a fantastic resort. Can't wait to just walk the grounds and soak it all in!!!!

She said one problem was that they had a few trial rooms set up for CMs and other staff first and there was photos of them taken and they had to change a few things before they were sure what they were doing for all the refurb. and she hates the public to see the picts and when the arrive feel they are not getting what they expected.

Actually I do know what she means, and when I put any pre-opening photos on the site I always include wording to the effect that they are not complete (although that is usually fairly obvious).

I guess it's in the nature of people being enthusiastic fans of something that they always want to know stuff far quicker than the corporate gears can ever grind. And the internet allows someone with a camera-phone to snap something and have it uploaded to the DIS in a few seconds. You only have to check out all the photos of the Fantasyland expansion (or any other works at WDW) to see that; people were virtually hanging out of Dumbo ride-vehicles snapping pics of the work on the Beast's Castle. :) And once someone has posted about it on the DIS, I don't really see much difference if I re-post or talk about it on portorleans.org (with the OP's permission of course).

However as for the comments about preview room photos: I have not put anything on my site other than officially released press preview pictures that were also posted on the Official DisneyParks Blog. I did ask whether I would be able to get any other preview photos while I was at the resort last year, and was very nicely and politely told that they could not allow that at the time, and I fully respect that.

In fact, I couldn't have been more impressed and pleased with the warm and friendly response that I got from all of the staff that I spoke to (right up as far as the Port Orleans General Manager) and especially with the generosity of their time in helping me get some nice detailed photos and panoramas in a variety of newly opened room types.

I told her how a CM just this past Fri thoguht I was crazy for asking for Qn beds as they "ARE STANDARD TO ALL POR ROOMS". Of course I tried to tell him otherwise but he wasnt having it. She replied it is those CMs that I wish I could yank off the phones.

Well on the plus side at least it's not just me she hates... :) I really do think WDW really needs to get its own house in order when it comes to the accuracy of its guest-facing information before pointing fingers at other people. I wouldn't mind being criticised if there was an official source of information for forthcoming guests that wasn't so seriously flawed - for example regarding the Garden View Queen Bed booking descriptions, about which I raised concerns as far back as October last year.

Just in case anyone is thinking of sneaking some pictures of the RR refurb, they put a fence around the building, so good luck with that.

Good plan of their part! Not open to any misinterpretation as to what is 'off-limits' that way. As I'm sure you're aware, if anyone had asked me to remove any early-peek photos then I would have done so immediately - but as no one asked me to, I kind of assumed that the implication was that it wasn't a big issue over a matter of a few days. And as I said, the pictures would still be there in the original visitors' DIS postings/etc anyway - that genie never goes back into the bottle as easily as it came out!

I was looking at the Port Orleans FQ thread and someone asked about buying milk at the resort store and that you can!! :) Is this true at POR, too? That would be so great!! We plan to bring cereal and rice milk for DD (allergic to dairy), but being able to buy milk on site for DH and myself would be sweet!

Yup, milk is available at the shop, up to half-gallon cartons.

OMG if I knew that my post about the fact that I can't wait to see a picture of the royal rooms completed would cause Andre so much trouble I would have never posted it.
His website has so much information about POR. And for anyone to say he is out of line is wrong. People have to understand that we live in a era now where everyone is holding a camera in there hand and snapping pictures all the time. sooner or later a picture will be posted somewhere. maybe not here or on his website.
I am one of those ppl that I won't believe it until I see it kind of ppl. I also do as much research on a vacation that I possible can so my family will be happy and entertained. I also want to get the most for my $$ and I would like to see pictures of the rooms that I am booking before I get there so I can make an educated guess as to if this is suitable for my family. It may work for someone else but maybe not mine. and maybe the extra $240 I paid for the RR's is not going to work for us and I should change my ressie. Put that $$ to use some where else better suited.
After saying all of that again- thank you Andre for having a great website I have used and gotten great information from for my family's next vacation. keep doing what you are doing there are ppl out there like me that greatly Appreciates everything you post on your website.

That is so awesome!! I wish I could afford to do that for both my girls!!
I noticed in the Mickey Welcome one that there are "Mickey vision glasses" Do you know if they sell these anywhere else? That looks so neat and I would love to get some!!

We're booked in at POR from 16 to 29 August. River View, and hoping for Alligator Bayou as there will be four of us and the murphy bed would be great.

Andre

Congrats! We'll be in WDW Aug 22 - Sept 3, booked BB a couple of weeks ago during our WL stay. We booked AKL, 12 nights, to lock in BB offer, and 35% for AKL is good, as they seem to lower AKL discounts when their released.
But thinking about a split with POR.

We had to go back to POR for a visit this past trip to walk around, and get my fav Pasta for lunch. :goodvibes

The new murphy fold down beds are for children 9 and under only. My daughter is 9.5 and I was worried about the size. I tried booking online with my daughter as a 10 year old and I wouldn't let me get POR. So the age is the big thing. Parties of 5 can only book POR if the 5th person is 9 or under. The length of the bed is 65 inches, or 5 feet 5 inches. My daughter will be tight once her head is on a pillow. I imagine feet will be dangling. She assures me she will be fine and not to worry. :lovestruc

thanks. so i guess they are the same age, weight, height as the piece of plasitc on the floor they used to call a bed!! lol. trying to decide if we should get an extra room or move to AOA. really want to stay at POR , uuggh decisions decisions ...

Ok I cant help but wonder this. WHERE CAN OUR MICKEY MAIL BE?

1. Disney says they have been mailed out on the 17th of Jan.
2. We booked through AAA Agent, and I have bugged the crap out of her, and she hasnt seen it yet.
3. Seriously I am bugging up and down the walls right now. Any suggestions lol?

We're 10 days out and I still haven't gotten our luggage tags. I called customer service a couple days ago and they said they were mailed to our TA, but they were going to re-mail them. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we had to grab our own bags, just as long as we've got room on the bus!:)

WoooHoo were going to Disney!!!!!! I don't care weather I have queen beds, or have to be upgraded because of unfinished refirb's. WERE GOING TO DISNEY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Be happy....yeah I payed plenty for a RR @POR and if it is not exactly what the picture looks like on the website, it won't be a deal breaker.

Great attitude Jonofrio! BTW, I grew up in West Haven! Was just in NH in August to visit family.
