We check into POR this friday for the first time! We are also used to POFQ, and have the same concerns about the size and bus situation at Riverside. I'll let you know how it was when we get back!

Thanks, I know it'll be different there being 4 stops rather than only 1 and being used to first pick up and usually having a seat. I'm thinking of just renting a car instead. Have a great trip! Hope you enjoy POR. :yay:

Very cool... About the refurb, that building should be closed now. They were scheduled to close it on the 15th of Jan I believe and reopen March 9th as the new Royal Guest Rooms. I cant check the dates exactly since our only source is on strike with this whole government thing.

Work now starts on Oak Manor on 22 January I believe.

By the way, I have not taken the whole of portorleans.org down in protest at the US Govt's potential actions, just the main landing page for 24 hours. You can still get to the subpages if you know the link. e.g. www.portorleans.org/rehab.php

We'll be arriving late Saturday night! So excited to see how the resort is looking since I haven't stayed there since I was a kid and it was still called Dixie Landings, lol! It's just my mom and I on this trip and I'm ready to be there already!!!

This is my first post on these boards but have have been reading for the past few months. My family is booked to stay at POR RR in early May. It is a first trip for everybody:).
My question has to do with the Pirate Cruise they offer for kids. My DD7 and DS5 are booked on one of the days we are there, but I have found very little information on the actual cruise. I have looked for reviews or comments and haven't found anything. Any information be greatly appreciated.

Back at our favorite Mod resort, last week I booked our spring break vacation at POR-Royal room with the new AP discount, March 16-24:banana: DD1(7) is all excited about staying in the Royal room. She has been talking about it ever since I showed her pictures of it last month and now DD2(2) is starting to talk about it (I know she really does not understand but it's still very cute:cloud9:). Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

I believe I saw a few posts on the Theme Park boards about it and I saw some good info on the all ears.net site. Also, I found a few YouTube videos regarding the cruise when looking up some info about the various cruises at wDW. It looks cute but the times didn't work for us

LOVE LOVE LOVE this site and especially this thread ... its giving me lots of good ideas and keeping me informed about the whole Royal Guest Rooms debacle.

My hubby & I are planning a surprise Disney trip for our 5 yr old. We book Royal Guest Rooms for March 23-29. The way I'm reading it all it sounds like we should be able to get the royal guest rooms right? We kinda have our hearts set on this & not really interested in the upgrade if the room isnt available.

Royal Rooms should be fine after 9th March, POR has enough capacity with those first 256 rooms to cover all of the bookings over Easter, and the final 256 Royal Rooms are then due to open around 13th April.

Thanks....now I just gotta stop obsessing about this lol The planner in me is going nuts about this "mess"

It's ok to obsess about Disney. I just took the suitcases down today from the attic.

Thats too funny. We need to get a new luggage set. We have several Nike sports duffle bags that we are gonna pack inside the suitcases for the extra stuff we come back with. I have 2 big plastic totes that I have been putting stuff in that needs to be packed. I have a color coded list that is saved on my laptop. DD's clothes are 90% packed. How's that for obsessed lol

Yeah speaking of new set, I went and bought this set in Orange here: http://www.heysusa.com/heys-prisma-3-piece-set/447633#

We just started our lists also. But we have had a travel bag with soaps, toothpaste and other related items since September. We are also bringing vacuum space bags which I was told we could use a vac from house keeping to re-shrink them.

I've gotten real good at packing light from traveling to Myrtle Beach every year for the past 10 yrs. We plan on doing laundry while we are there. With a kid who is a slob and a hubby who sweats bad there is no way we could pack enough clothes without doing laundry.

I must have missed something, what US Gov't potential actions?

They are trying to go after one issue but we as the people feel the gov, would take this new power and attempt to censor the internet for everyone.

Back to POR...

I don't know if this is it but Obama want site owners to approve every post before it is entered in a thread. Forums, facebook etc... Saw this on the news tonight where there were blackouts because of this tiday.

I thought maybe it was some hostile takeover of POR or WDW in general.:lmao:

We are planning on going 26th May - 1st June and was originally going to stay at CSR (they had a food court but now it's gone all but buffet) but we are now leaning toward POR (since they have a food court). We stayed at POR when it was Dixie Landings back in 1995 and loved it. Here's hoping that we can get a refurb room (don't like the double beds at all). Have to wait to make our reservations after the 3rd week of Feb when DH can make vacation requests at work then.:woohoo:

This will be my first stay at POR. Can someone give me an idea of how large the grounds are? For example if you were in building 35 how long would it take you to walk to the food court?

My first stay was two weeks ago and we were in Bldg 18 and based on my stay, a walk from Bldg 35 should only take about 8-10 minutes. Maybe longer if you really take your time. Enjoy your stay. We hope to return to POR in April or May.

Hey Venomhatch I bought the same luggage only in red for our trip last year.

A reminder to you and anyone else that's flying take advantage of of the luggage scales before you get on the ME. Last year we were over by a few pounds and had to move some items for our suitcase to our carry on to avoid the $100 fine from the airline.

The CMs at POR knew how much we were permitted and how much the fine would be for our airline. I was quite impressed that they knew this information from off the top of their head.
