Just got my call 5 minutes ago! (my 1 night at POR was for Feb. 24th)

I acted all surprised :). As far as which resorts they are offering she just said "We would like to relocate you to The Polynesian." I then said "I know this sounds crazy, but is there any chance you have a room at the CR?". We are split staying there and thought that would be convenient.

She said CR is one of the only deluxes she could not transfer me to. So I asked if she had Beach Club, and was told no problem! We have stayed at the Poly a couple years ago and it is amazing but we wanted to try a deluxe we have never stayed at before.

So my 8 day trip looks like this now: 1 night at Beach Club, 4 nights at 2 bedroom villa BLT and then 3 nights 2 bedroom villa Animal Kingdom! All 3 deluxe resorts we have never stayed at!!!!:cool1:

Thanks everyone for the heads up! I already pre-booked my dinner at Il Mulino earlier today in hopes I could get Beach Club!! Here's hoping you all get your call soon!

That's great news! and good to know that CR is out. What are your dates? (sorry I saw you posted it for Feb. 24)

BTW, I am sorry the RGR push back has taken over this thread...

Can anyone tell me what is in the soda dispensers in the food court?

I can! :) For all the menus at the Riverside Mill, check out http://www.portorleans.org/riversidemill.php.

Here's what's in the soda fountains though:

So yes, you can get Lemonde (still) and Sprite (fizzy), plus lots of other drinks.

I wouldnt feel too bad. This thread is all about the POR refurb in general. This RGR push back will die off here soon when everyone gets taken care of and everything should return to normal here.

Meanwhile all the RGRs have made it over to POLY that I have seen with the exception of a few. Maybe now I will see some fellow RGR/POLY friends there.

Saw which AB rooms have been renovated, but can you tell me which Mansion buildings have already been done?

It is all in the FAQ in the very first posting, but currently Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace are done.

Congrats, to all that got pixie dust. I love POR but WOW! Some serious pixie dust! Any chance they won't be ready in August:lmao: this makes me think I should book for the Animator resort with the hopes that they don't finish in time:lmao:

I was thinking the same thing but with Family suites scheduled to open in May 2012 and standard rooms scheduled to open December 31, 2012 at the Art of Anaimation resort I think us August folks will have our rooms ready on time.

I know, I was looking into them also.

I don't the paying the balance matters since we paid ours off on Monday. I think they are going in order of earliest reservations. Us March checkin people have not heard yet but I would think we would hear well before the 45 day out period.

I didn't think it would either, but I just thought I'd give it a whirl....I thought it was maybe all the Feb check-in dates at first, but I believe Jocelyn6 is checking in on March 3, and she got the call already. :confused3 I'm just being antsy and would just like this taken care of already. I'm a little anxious mainly because we transferred our resv to a TA just to get an extra gift card, so there's an extra step in between us & Disney. When I told her what I found out from here, she went with the company line and said from what she was told, some of the rooms will be complete, and they won't tell her anything else. So, without actually hearing a confirmation one way or another for our situation just makes me nervous.

I'm happy to hear about everyone else's pixie dust, so hopefully things will get settled for the rest of us soon :cool1:

Does it perhaps have to do with the check in dates? That has to be the one thing I havent figured out about this whole RGR thing. The process of them calling lol!

I thought it was check-in dates, but I think I read that someone was checking in March 3rd and she's now confirmed for the upgrade. Maybe last names? We're at the end of the alphabet (T), so could be that? I'm just throwing random things at the wall right now, hoping it sticks

Have a bit of patience folks - with 3 weeks' works of guests for 256 rooms, I'm guessing there could be anywhere between 500-1000 people to contact, it could take a little while.

You're absolutely right, it does require patience. I'm trying hard to just wait & hear back, and normally I'd be happy to...just having my TA say that she expects us to be in the RGR according to her conversation with Disney throws a wrench into my patience. Plus, I'm a crazy planner who has already started what I like to call "preliminary packing" so not knowing where we're staying is driving me nuts. But, that's a sobering number to think about (500-1000), guess I didn't think it would amount to that much :scared1: I'll just have to keep reminding myself to be patient! :flower3:

Excited! Just booked 7 nights in the AB section for April. Went with preferred and requested 14.
Now hoping I made the right choice:confused3

I'm right there with you! I'm such a planner and having things out of my control makes me very edgy. I want to know where I'm staying and be committed to it. I'm not working with a TA, but honestly the people I've talked to in reservations at Disney didn't even know that there was any interior work going on at POR at all :scared1: So your TA may not be getting through to the "special team" that is in the know about all this either, so I'd take what she's been told with a grain of salt too.

Hopefully we all hear very soon!

WOW!!! Very excited for all of you!!!

Makes me really wish that I had booked a RGR instead of taking a Run Disney package- it was an extra $100 or so, but now I see what that extra $$ would have gotten me...

I must have miscalculated I thought they would have 300 guests at most. I figured since they were up to Feb. 24 and indeed are going in order of check-in date then it would be late Sunday or Monday before I hear anything so I am being patient and in the meantime researching potential resorts. I had not heard of anyone on here with a March check-in date being contacted yet but I could be very wrong. Hopefully they will have something left by the time they get to me :lmao:

I do have to change all of my ADRs around though depending upon where I will be. This also affects my parents trip to Disney as well. They will most likely stay off site now or I may pay for their upgrade to a deluxe resort depending upon which one it is and I have to upgrade our one night reservation now too so Disney will probably be getting at least $500 more for upgrading us! :rotfl2:

I take back what I said about wishing I had not already booked airfare on Monday... the prices of my flights went up $276!

Not sure if I am reading your post correctly so forgive me if I am wrong.

However, if you are a GG with your parents and they booked a hotel close to you such as AB POR or POR FQ so you can go to the parks together...I would mention this when you get the call for your free upgrade. In the past I have had friends this has happened to and Disney has upgraded the whole GG. You have to emphasize the problem this will cause and ask in the very nicest of ways. ;)

It can happen, because it has happened before and it costs nothing to ask.:wizard: Even if it was not a close hotel I would give it a shot!

I agree with you. One thing I know Disney will look out for you if you had existing plans to be near family and they had rooms there in the same resort. They might either upgrade them or give a considerable discount to place them with you.

I'm assuming you have a RGR booked while your parents are in a standard room? Definitely bring that up when you talk to whoever is upgrading you. That's probably a big problem some other families will be facing too. Maybe it's the attorney in me, but it's definitely something I'd be taking to management if given a hard time. I would hope they would give your parents at least a discounted upgrade, if not a free one. If you exhaust all options and they aren't willing to accommodate your parents, then I would see if they could switch you to another mod so they could stay with you for a comparable price. If that's not a choice, then make sure the deluxe they put you in has availability for other people. With them switching all these people to Poly, I wonder how much open availability it has now for the general public during this time.
