Just got back a week ago. We did get a connecting room with queen beds and a king bed in Arcadian house. It was sooo nice in the refurbished rooms!
And we did wait a long time for a bus just once for the Magic Kingdom, and in the end we hopped on and EPCOT bus and took the monorail over. But that's just because it was the 3rd EPCOT bus we'd seen in 10 mins. Overall, a great trip and we love riverside!

We are planning for a november trip and would like to request the alligator bayou. However we do not want a parking lot view. So my question is do we need to request a garden view room to avoid the parking lot. We would like to look at the bayou.

thanks in advance and sorry for the typos it is an unfriendly tablet.

We just got back late Saturday night from 14 nights at POR. :sad1: Contrary to popular opinion, it is not great to be back home. I would give a lot to be back in the Florida warmth.

When I booked our room the one thing that I definitely did not want was a parking lot view. The cast member on the phone suggested that we book preferred and our first request was no parking lot. I think there are some rooms in the preferred buildings that face the lot, but not too many. We got a 2nd floor courtyard view in building 14! We were thrilled with the location.

For your stated needs I think she should really have suggested Garden View (as you say, there are some rooms in 14 and 15 that have parking lot views) but personally I don't think you can beat Alligator Bayou #14 so you did very well.

30 more days until our vacation. I cannot wait!!!! :cool1:

I feel like we are ready, have researched, prepared, etc. I'm ready to just be there and know what building/room we'll be in, how the crowds are, did our food get delivered to the room, are our dinner reservations that we made are good. will the kids be happy, etc.

We also really wanted AB for the trundle or Murphy bed so we wouldn't have to sleep with our kids for two weeks. The extra cost of preferred was well worth it. :)

We leave in 32 days....we are very excited. We just hope the crowds arent too awfully bad. We are having some issues with room requests because the CMs we talk to are so darn clueless sometimes.

We are with ya! No Mickey mail for us yet. Watching crowd report calanders, it shows 9 and 10's:scared1:! Oh my!! We usually go in Oct when it's less crowded, but with my DS in high school football, that wont happen again for a few years!

I spoke to Disney last week about our reservations, making sure all 3 parts of our stay was linked together. The reservation agent told me, rooms don't allow 5 and a "Pop Up Disclaimer" would have appeared when we booked to warn us of this....:confused3...Really!?!?! I was polite and said I was aware of the room types and we are good....let the countdown continue!!!!

Let's hope for sunshine!!!!

This may have been asked before as I just started perusing the 140+ pages :scared1: of this thread ...

  • With the refurbishment of Port Orleans, is it mainly cosmetic (new paint, bedding, mattress, furniture, carpets) or more in-depth (i.e. new sinks, tubs, toilets etc)
  • Are the TV's now LCD's ... what about the other resorts, have they switched over to LCD's?
  • With the forthcoming Royal Rooms, is there anything additionally unique than from what I can see in the photos (i.e. upgraded furnishings?)

The last time we stayed at WDW is coming up to 10 years at what was then the Dixie Landings Resort ... things certainly have changed

9's & 10's???? YIKES! Oh well we kinda expected that....and yes we are wishing for non stop sunshine. We are gonna go again next year but in Feb during president's day week. Where can I find the crowd report calendar?

Are the royal rooms worth the extra $$$ would love to know if anyone has stayed in them :)

Does anyone have a RGR booked for their upcoming trip? I'd love to hear what you think.

Another question, not for me (sounds stupid but you just never know). I have friends staying at POR and they are a family of 5. I am assuming since they booked for 5 people they will automatically be given one of the rooms w/ the murphy bed? That's not a specific request they need to make right?

Do the rooms have microwaves? If not, can you request one?

Everyone leaving soon, have a great time and please come and post about your trip. I am really enjoying hearing all about this hotel.

Does Muddy Rivers or the River Roost have a "signature" drink, like the Lapu Lapu at the Poly?

(I'm still more than 6 months out, so I can't make ADR's yet, I need something else to fixate on, LOL.)
