Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

I have a question, I already made my reservations. I don't think I'll be able to fax a request...can I just call Disney and ask them to make a note of room location?

Also, do you request microwaves ahead of time? or at check in???

You can send faxes anytime. You can call Disney but you won't be talking to someone at the actual resort and most of the time I don't see guests get what they asked for that way. I would send the fax and put on there you would like to request a microwave also. Usually I have put in for one right at the time of checkin and got one that day.

Yeah I've heard you can't really request microwaves until check in..

And pretty much all rooms have fridges now too, right??

I have a random question! I have never requested a room in all of our trips before but I have a friend who has stayed at POFQ and told us about her fave room there. This is our first time in a moderate as we have always been at values.

Would it be too presumptuous of me to request a fax and request a particular room? I was thinking I would fax something that says I am requesting a ground floor/corner room in building #X but can I also say "and if at all possible, we would prefer XXXX room"…???

Or is that being too needy? I don't want to mess with the Disney gods or anything! Ha! Thanks!!

No you would be fine. Just have alternates available. It is always a chance if it is available they could give it to you. We will certainly try!

Hello all! My family and I will be staying at POR for the first time. There will be 6 of us, 2 seniors, 2 adults and 2 preschoolers. I want to ask for connecting rooms in magnolia bend. Just standard ones. Are there any room areas that someone might recommend? I have only seen the resort online, but I can tell that my parents would prefer the more traditional decor of the mansions, rather than the creatively themed AB. And since this is my dad's 75th birthday trip, I am pretty eager to please them!

I dont work at either POR but I work on property at a Disney Resort. Thanks we did have a very nice Christmas thank you!

Why not just request that then? Standard rooms will most likely face the parking lots, so there's not much to choose view-wise. You could maybe ask for rooms with fairly easy access to the main building, as some of the end-wing rooms in Acadian House can be a bit of a walk over to the food court/etc.

Yeah it does seem like a simple enough request that most likely would get granted.

Why not just request a 2nd floor, corner room, in a quiet location?

Note: the middle sections of the Royal buildings have three floors, so second floor would be the middle level (and incidentally the corner rooms in that middle section do NOT have two windows, so perhaps it's worth mentioning that you want a corner room for the extra window - although they will most likely assume that's why you are asking anyway).

Her reply to me after speaking w someone at POR:

"You have reserved via when we booked your ressies a Royal Guest Room Garden view. They are in....Parterre building. BUT the good news according to the rep I just spoke to there is a walkway to the main building. And there is a bus stop right there. So she has noted you need to be closest to the walkway in building 95. She looked at the map and advised me for those reservations that is your best option. There are "preferred" rooms that are closer prox. to the main building. , BUT, they don't have the "themed" rooms like the Royal Guest Rooms do. The Royal guest rooms are the higher "grade" rooms. So, as it stands it has been noted on your reservation that you request building 95 closest to the walkway."

Does this sound right? When I look at the map, Parterre is far from any bus stops. I wish I were healthy and could just stay anywhere

I would request Oak near the foot bridge to the main building. Also if you don't care to go to the main building there is a bus stop on the parking lot side that is much closer than Parterre is!

The Royal Rooms are indeed all located in Oak Manor and Parterre Place, which are on the other side of the river from the main buildings and the main bus stop. However there is a convenient footbridge located just between the two buildings, which provides very easy access across to the main ("South") bus depot. Parterre Place may be the most distant of the four mansion buildings, and some of its more remote rooms can be quite a trek to get to anywhere, but the rooms in its northern-most wing are in fact the absolutely best-located of all the Royal Rooms, with some of them just a few yards away from that bridge over to the main building and bus stop.

No windows open, and door opens to inside.

The door opens (inwards) onto an external outdoor walkway, yes - but the windows do not open.
