:goodvibes Good Evening FQ lovers! :) I just got off the phone from making changes to my Free Dining trip Oct. 2012....I was originally booked at the POLY, GV Club Level, but due to both my older teen sons wanting to join me on what started out as a girls only trip with my best friend and myself....well....the price was getting a little high over at the POLY for the 4 of us. Even with upgrading my dining plan to DLX, my new reservation total comes to approx $1,000.00 less than what I was paying to stay club level at the POLY. I also like the fact that at FQ, we will have 2 rooms and the boys can have their own private space, as can my friend and I. :)

I have never stayed at a mod before, am always a deluxe gal at heart...make that deluxe WITH club level :lovestruc, so this is new territory for me....the rooms look lovely though, and the resort looks quaint, I really love the cobblestone streets, and new orleans feel, and the river running behind...so picturesque! With the fact that we downgraded to a mod (my boys are fine with this downgrade, as my oldest stated..."we are only there to sleep")...I chose to upgrade us to deluxe dining as we will be foregoing club level....this will allow us to try some great signatures without paying out of pocket...as well give those growing teen boys enough snacks to keep themselves happy :) the only downside to the resort, is the pool is so small, but I figure we can head over to POR to try the bigger slide and pool/arcade if the boys wish.

I paid the upgraded view fee for a riverview room. I am hoping this extra fee is worth paying for a room facing the river?? I also requested blg. 5 or 6....from reviews I've read it seems people like these blg's for river views? Anyone whose had a river view, can you comment on what blg. you liked and if you felt the upgrade was worth the cost?

Even though this was a downgrade in resort category, I am excited to be trying Dlx dining for the first time and POFQ with the new refurbs! I look forward to planning with you all over the next yr!

We normally stay only at the Poly. So when I booked a girls only trip this past September I chose the POFQ because the only condition that I could go on this trip was that I didn't stay at the Poly.

We got a standard room and our view was of the building across and some plants. We weren't in the room much so the view was fine. Heck, it beat a parking lot view. I was really surprised that I enjoyed staying there. I am trying to convince my dh to stay there so we can go again to WDW next year instead in 2013.

What are the chances of getting an accessible room in AB that sleeps 5 and is close to the main building?

Room 6225! Great room. View of the water and the fire pit where there was smores making!

I am now and may forever be PDFQ fan! The rooms where beautiful. The food court is perfect as was the pool and play area. I loved how convenient the bus stop was and we never waited more then 10 minutes for a bus.

LOVE IT!!!

Just booked my first on-property stay EVER. :cool1:

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about POFQ - so excited!!!

Yay!!! :cool1: You will love it! When are you going? We just booked for a four-peat for next August! Can't wait!!!!

POFQ is in my opinion the best resort on WDW property. We loved trying out different resorts, but I can't imagine going back and not staying at POFQ.

So I'm down to the last 7 weeks! :cool1::cool1: so I'm starting to nail down the details of what I've gotta pack..... and I've got a few questions?

- does anyone still decorate their doors or windows at the hotels? If so are there any rules? or limitations? (I was thinking about surprising my daughter with some decorations)

- does anyone know how much the laundry machines cost?

- Does anyone know what kind of coffee makers they have? Someone mentioned in another thread that some of the hotels are switching to pod style coffee makers? Has that happened already at FQ?

I can answer your first question! I totally decorated our door and windows (we were lucky to get a corner room) last Christmas at POFQ and noticed lots of others as well! I used suction cups on the windows so I wouldn't leave any tape marks anywhere. I'm not sure what kind of limitations or rules there are, but I just didn't want to make any extra work for mousekeeping once we left! I say go for it and have fun with it!!! :)

We did decorate our window with some Halloween Disney window clings. Some rooms had more decorations, but most had none. The kids loved putting them up & it made it easier to find our room.

DH did laundry, so I'm sorry, I do not know the prices there.

Coffee makers were regular 4 cup machines. Half the time, DH just tollerated the nescafe in the restaurant using his refillable mug. That mug was so worth it!

Just got back on Weds from 10 days @ FQ! We are going through a bit of withdrawl, but seem to be surviving it ok.

DH checked in the 1st night at midnight & got all our room requests met. Corner room in building 5. Little did he know that the reason I wanted a corner was because it would have 2 windows. Needless to say, all corner rooms do not have 2 windows! Our corner faced the inside of the next building, so no window. No complaints from me though, the room was beautiful! We weren't in it enough to enjoy a view anyway. I did walk around every building & thought that even most parking lot views had enough landscaping between the room and the cars to make them just fine too. Lots of tall trees & plantings to block out the cars.

Mousekeeping was pretty good, but they did miss a few things. We brought our own pillowcases in an effort to make the hard pillows a bit roomier. (helped some, but not enough). Mousekeeping left those cases scattered all over the A/C unit & forgot to restock our coffee on the same day. I think DH was hoping for more towel creations like on a cruise. They left 1 every 3 days or so, but not daily. The table was sometimes left with breakfast crumbs. Maybe these things were our fault for eating in the room & changing the pillow cases? Most days the room was just fine though.

The pool @ FQ was great for my 4 & 8 yo boys. While the slide wasn't super exciting for the 8yo, the 4 yo would only go once. The pool activities were nice too. We did try the pool at riverside once too. Liked the extra space & bigger slide, but thought the grounds were prettier @ FQ.

Food was very good. Biegnets were not authentic - it has been a long time, but I do not recall them being hallow. Loved the Po Boys and make your own salads. Deserts and pastries were excellent. Huge selection of drinks was awesome. Loved the Pomegranite Blue bottled juice. Have to find it at home now...

Beads & coins were fun. I loved being offerred them almost everytime we went through the lobby. People at the parks always knew where we were staying because of our jewels.

Busses & boats were fabulous. Only had to wait 40 min for a HS bus once, but considering we dined at a different resort every night & never had to wait more than 10-15 mins, I am not complaining. Took the boat to downtown at least 4 times as it was the best way back home at night & loved that too.

Would totally go back to FQ again! Thanks for all your advice!
Sarah

5 days to stay at FQ! So excited!

We did online check in, but did not put in any room requests.

I'll check back in & let you know what we get!

We've been back from POFQ for a couple of weeks now. I have to say that I really like the refurb they have done. What I didn't like was that mousekeeping left my door propped open ALL DAY. We were in a corner room on the first floor and in a high traffic area. When I called to complain I was told we would get "VIP cleaning" for the rest of our stay...whatever that may have been. :headache::sad2:

Oh thank you!! Your windows looked so cute!! I think I will come up with some stuff to decorate the windows. It will make a nice surprise for my daughter.

Thank you also Caira01! I appreciate it! I know it's really common at Pop where we usually stay, I wasn't sure if it was at POFQ. It's been so long since we stayed at CBR - I don't remember if I saw any there.
