Hi Everyone ! Switching from POR to POFQ today for 12/11 to 12/16! So excited!!

I will meet you in POFQ! Because we are going in the same date as you! 12/11-12/16!

You guys get POFQ and the parks ready for us because we are coming in 12/18 - 12/22. OBTW tell Mickey were are coming too!! Hope guys have a great trip!!

On a whim and a magical feeling (playing a Disney musical CD), I called WDW reservations on 6-11-11 to see if we could get AAA rates for POFQ at end of June into early July 2012...
I expected to hear call back in August...
BUT
A nice CM said - yes I could get an AAA rate for our Room Only reservation for our dates in 2012 !

We saved 10%, for us about $230, but every penny of savings helps!

Our average night stay which includes 3 peak nights for 4th of July weekend, 2012, is now $177.75 including tax.

Our reservation number and our requests all remained the same.
Just the rate changed.

If you do not have a package (not sure if those rates are out) - call to see if you can snag an AAA room only rate for your dates in 2012.
I know a limited number of rooms at each resort can have the AAA rate.

We are headed to POFQ in 14 days...BUT, was reading the thread about bed bugs, which frankly, started to give me pause...while we have not had a problem yet, I just have to ask...has anyone had a problem with this at POFQ??? What about VWL?? With the rehab, I would hope all is OK, but, hey all it takes is one of those critters...

Nope, never had a problem about bed bugs at POFQ. Last year I checked all around and under the mattress and didn't find evidence of any sort of nasty bug.

Disney has the 2012 rates up for some of the resorts. Looks like another room category has been added for POFQ - Garden View. I guess this would guarantee a view of a courtyard area. There are now five room catagories: Standard, Garden, Water, River, and King.

Also, it appears that the extra charge for Friday & Saturday nights has increased from $10 to $15 for 2012.

Nice! We booked a few months ago for this June and got a pretty good AAA rate.

We will just miss you... we are headed there in 21 days!!! I'm so excited. It will be our first stay there, and it seems like the type of resort that I want to be at!!!

This hurts people like us who always book standard rooms to save $$$ because there will be less standard rooms to book.

The weekend night charges, the many category charges, and the "holiday" dining surcharges throughout nearly all of the summer are some of the ways I feel nickeled and dimed when we book a Disney trip. I know they are a business and are looking for a profit and as long as we're able we'll still visit, but a few dollars extra here and a few dollars extra there do add up especially a lot of people are hurting in today's economy.

Unfortunately it's nothing to do with any particular hotel, I guess it's to do with staying ANYWHERE that someone else might have been staying the night before; bedbugs come with people. This hotel (like any other Disney hotel) will deal immediately and effectively with anything they encounter - but they can't do so until any problem has been detected.

Bedbugs don't really care whether they arrive at the All Stars or the Grand Floridan. It's not a Port Orleans issue, it comes from outside I'm afraid, and is pretty much random - although thankfully reported incidents do seem pretty rare compared to the overall number of hotel room-nights that must be booked at WDW's 25 or so hotels.

In short, could it possibly happen? Well, yes. But is it likely? No.

I just looked at prices for when we would be going and it looks like the weekday price for a king room during regular season is $205. Honestly, with a 20% cut in our income this year (not to mention that I have been without a job since 2007), I just don't see how we'll go, even with AAA rate. Some really great promotional rates are going to have to come my way if we are going to spend our 35th anniversary at WDW as we had planned for the last three years. I'm feeling very disappointed tonight.

We are booked for a Standard room to save some $$'s and got that great AAA rate - plus an extra $15 a night for our adult age 20 DS.

We asked for building 4 or 5 and away from smoking area's.

If there are now Garden view rooms - most likely we will be in buidling #4 facing the parking lot.

BUT - we will be about 20 feet away from the bus stop that is a good thing on a rainy summer day (we go next year late June into early July).

Since everyone walks by your room, our curtains will be mostly closed - so who cares what the view is?

I assume we do not hear the cars or see car head lights from building #4 parking lot view - OR am I wrong about that ?

I'm so sorry that you're feeling disappointed. Do you absolutely have to have a King room? My DH and I normally feel like we do since we're both VERY tall, however, it saves about $30/night depending on when you go, so if you're staying a week it could save you $200! I know that's not a 'huge' amount, but we often choose to skip the King so we can save the money. Just a thought
