I completely understand your worry! My husband is 6'5" (and a really floppy sleeper) and I am 5'9" so sharing a queen bed is not really comfortable for us. I can tell you, sorry to say, that in our 9+ trips to Disney we have always requested a King and have NEVER received one (even with special notes about our height.) This results in us often sleeping in separate beds, but whether we're in separate beds or sharing, we're normally SO exhausted that it's not the worst thing in the world. We are in Disney after all

There are differences between 'reserving' a King room and 'requesting' a King room. Ours have always been at places where they were merely requests, not a separate category that you can reserve. We also always have to go at the busiest times of year since I'm a teacher And I totally get you on the dog thing Ours is the same way!

Okay, now I'm curious about the "reserved" vs. "request". Anytime we have been to Disney we have always had a King Bed. That is how we book it. Is that what you mean by reserve?

I understand that if I request waterview, I may not get that. But, if I actually book a King room, I get a King bed, yes? Or Am I confused (not too hard for me to be!)

Correct, if you specifically book a King Bed room category (i.e. you pay an extra fee for it) then you are entitled to what you have paid for.

However, there seem to have been a few cases recently where Disney have oversold their available capacity and then had to change people when they checked in - either by refunding the fee or by offering a move or free upgrade to another hotel which has a King room available.

That is too funny. I usually get a king bed room, even though I don't reserve and pay for it, because I often go alone.

I have four cats and this past year, lo and behold I get a king bed. Took me a day or so to realize I have more than just the first eight inches of the bed!

By the by, I bet I can guess why you were in OC this weekend; the car show! I took my mom to the beach (Rehoboth) on Sunday and we saw massive amounts of traffic coming north pulling trailers. We figured that was what it was.

The grassy courtyard between buildings 4, 5 and 6 has often been used for entertainment during special events such as Easter and Halloween, but it seems that the resort is now trialling the idea of having movie nights three nights a week (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) on a giant inflatable screen. Presumably this will happen during the summer months when it's always warm enough to sit out in the evenings.

All the resorts have King bed rooms available, but only some of them have a separate category that you can book (and pay extra for) a King room. The others don't have a King room category, you just have to request it like you do with certain buildings or floor preferences Does that make sense?

I got it now. Thanks. I believe we always book a king room then because we get it. Plus, we go during busy times, and I have bad luck. So, if I had to "request" it, I can guarantee we wouldn't get it.

Now something I find a little funny is that I tryed to get a room at POFQ for August 23rd and 24th and was told all they had was King beds left.
I will be there from 25th to the 30th. Love the resort but would be very upset too if I paid for 2 king rooms to fit a family of four to find out that they over sold.

Hi everyone!

I saw an earlier poster asked a question about travel from POFQ to an early breakfast ADR, so I thought I would do the same! (If I should put this question elsewhere, please just let me know! )

When we go in September, we have a 7:10 am breakfast ADR at Chef Mickey's, and I can't find a very good answer to how we should get there from French Quarter. Will I need to call for a taxi for a reservation that early? It seems like Disney should provide some way to get there if they have reservations that early. (But I'm not in charge, so what do I know? )

So excited for my first stay at POFQ, and I love creeping on this thread!

I just got back from my first stay at POFQ. For the most part I really enjoyed the experience. We were there from Thursday 5/18 to Wednesday 5/25. We had a king corner on the ground floor of building 4 (room 4119). Amazing room, the bed was fine.

Mousekeeping was great except that they didn't vacuum most days. It was vacuumed when we got there so at least I know it was our mess. Otherwise it was fine. We requested extra towels one day and had no problem getting them. I had to call up to get a replacement TV remote because it wasn't there when we checked in and there was a guy at my door within five minutes.

Buses... the other possible problem discussed in this thread. I have to say I was really disappointed with the bussing. It's hard to plan when to leave for a dining reservation when your bus may or may not be stopping at all four stops around Riverside as well. After reading the reviews here, I went in prepared to share the bus at slower times (weekdays/mid day). In fact, we rarely DIDN'T share a bus with Riverside. At peak times when the bus was pretty full, we still stopped at Riverside. Still not that bad though because POFQ is first on and first off, right? Nope, one day we stood on the bus FREEZING in the air conditioning after being at Typhoon Lagoon (btw, we saw buses for all other resorts twice before getting one bus for ours) while we took the Riverside loop before going to POFQ. One day I went in to ask why I had been waiting for 25 minutes for an Epcot bus and if the CM at the concierge desk could call Le Cellier to notify them that we might be late due to the buses especially if we were stopping at POR on the way. Instead she called the transportation dispatcher to find out where the bus was and then told me in an annoyed tone that 25 minutes wasn't bad since they don't consider waiting less than 45 minutes unacceptable and that the bus we were getting would not be going to POR anyway. ...it did and we ran to Le Cellier in the 96 degree blazing sun.

Excluding my interaction with the above CM, everyone that I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. The pool was okay. I would have liked an adult pool so I didn't have to be splashed upon entry but I knew the situation before we went. I LOVED the boat to DTD. As long as you're not in a hurry (we left 1.5 hours before our reservation), it's a must do.
