99% sure we will now be switching our reservation from POP to POFQ for November. So excited! We've stayed at POP twice now and DH and I both agreed last week we want something new. 30% off pin will help make it possible!

I have read that everything is very close together. Our party will be 3 adults and two children, ages 4 and 1. We plan on visiting POR one day for the pool and being close to the main building/bus stop would be nice. Is there a building that is worth requesting or does it not matter much since it's a small resort? We will be in a Garden View Room.

Thanks!

Even though you plan to visit POR, I would say probably not building 7, and for good distance to the food court, not building 1 either. When we were in building 3, POR was no more than a 10 minute walk from our room. Very enjoyable. We stayed in Buildings 2, 3 & 4 and they were all great. You will love POFQ!

We were wondering the same thing. I decided most of what we wanted to do was at por but it was booked when I went to change it. I had such a tough time deciding in the end it was made for me. I am happy wih pofq but we do plan on visiting por almost daily. I was going to request 7 to be closer but glad I didn't

Gonna be there Mar 31 to Apr 6...anyone else? We're taking our chances to see what building they put us in. Might try early check-in after reading this thread. First Disney trip in 28 years.

Ha! I just wanted to pop in and tell you guys we are booked for december in the POR RGRs ...... oh, have I told you that before??? :cool1:

Just Booked today and i am freaking out with excitement!!!!! so much to do, so little time!!!! Coming back to our favorite place in the world, French Quarter, 5/3/12 to 5/12/12!!! so excited!!!

Hi, neighbor! :wave2: I switched us over the morning from POP. DBF is giving his girls this special trip even though he isn't a fan, so I figured staying at POFQ would "lessen" the Disney craziness. :goodvibes

We are there 5/1-5/9. We also have 2 little ones the same age as yours. :)

I'm staying at POFQ for the first time May 6-10. We were going to do POP (I have stayed there twice before), but I left it up to my boyfriend (his first trip) and he chose POFQ, and I'm SO excited about that! I can't wait! As two 30-something adults, I think it is definitely a better choice than Pop :)

I have only stayed at 2 WDW resorts - AllStar Sports & Caribbean Beach.
AS-Sports has 2 pools and CBR has a lot of pools.
I have booked POFQ for Sept and was surprised that it only has 1 pool.
Does it stay very crowded since there is only one?

Hi! I made the switch this morning from POP to POFQ (5/1-5/9). It was the first resort I ever stayed at and absolutely love it. POP was fun when it was just oldest DD and I but DBF isn't a fan of Disney so I think this will be a better fit for him. The girls are young enough they won't have a clue. :goodvibes

POFQ only has 1008 rooms (half the number of rooms as either All Star Sports or CBR). Also, you can use any of the six pools over at Port Orleans Riverside too, which is just a short walk away.

We were there in February and the pool was never crowded. In fact, it was pleasantly UNcrowded, even though the weather was rather warm.

Thought you might be interested in the April 2012 Recreation Activities and Movie Schedules. The outdoor movies will start at 8:30pm and the daily campfires commence at 7pm.

There will also be various special activities on Easter Sunday (8th April) such as Easter Egg/candy hunts, cake decorating, Disney character greetings and loads of games for the kids. More details and a full schedule will be posted on my Recreation Activities Schedule page once the timetable has been confirmed.

we were there in feb too and noticed it was not crowded too.. even in the food court too,

Dh called today and POFQ is booked for our dates in June (or at least for the free dining offer, so was POR). I'm so sad! DD turns 3 this trip so that means we won't be back to POFQ :sad1: I love this resort so much. Maybe once the older kids are in college we can ditch them and go back but then we'll be too broke to go :lmao:

Thanks for this thread. I am a little more excited about our stay in May at POFQ after looking though it. I really wanted two connecting rooms at POR in the royal rooms, but they don't connect :( With 4 little ones, our only option was in POFQ. I was bummed. Anyone want to give me some benefits to staying at POFQ instead of POR? I am thankful that the walk between them seems small. So going to POR pools shouldn't be too bad, right?

Less walking, the buses when they share pick up POFQ first, marshmellow campfire and movies on the lawn.

You were once again given incorrect information by CRO (surprise!!!). I just confirmed that almost half of all the Royal Rooms connect, so call back and don't let them tell you otherwise.

In 2001 I made my first family trip to WDW with my small children and my wife. That was before I was Disney crazy. I was not in favor of going. I was told that I had to make the trip by my wife. I argued that it was too early, our children were too young. They would not remember the trip. I thought it cost too much. Back then all we could afford was the All Stars. I was an obedient husband and did as my wife instructed. I made the reservations. I don't think she understood what she was getting into. We stayed at All Stars Music that first trip. We all loved the time we spent at WDW and vowed to return, which we have many times now. We went back to All Stars Music one more time the next year. During that trip, my wife and I toured other resorts and tried to see if we wanted to stay somewhere else. I had noticed the subtle differences in Budget to Mod to Deluxe and thought we might enjoy a bump up to at least mod. POFQ was closed at that time for refurb which bothered me as that was the main hotel I wanted to check out. It sounded so great in the stuff I had read. We did make it to many deluxes and to POR. We agreed that we really liked POR and that we would stay there. As I prepped to make a reservation, suddenly POFQ came open as they finished refurb earlier than expected. I made a reservation there without having ever seen the place. That was evidently an fateful thing. POFQ has become our home resort. We have stayed there many times. We have stayed at WL villas, POFQ and as mentioned earlier ASMu as well. Nothing seems to beat the love we have for POFQ. There is simply something about this place for us. It is "Disney Home" to us. We just would not feel the same staying elsewhere. This became really very evident last June when we went to POR as POFQ had no rooms available. While we had a good trip, the fact that we were not in POFQ was a bummer to some degree. The place is just awesome. Quiet and laidback. The river in the back of the property is soothing. The grounds are beautiful and the architecture is interesting. The pool, though there is only one, is huge and never really crowded. The boat access to DTD is a great perk. The bus service is the best we have had on property though bus service is up and down everywhere at some point. It has been the best to us more consistently than any other resort we have stayed at. The food court is very good having some surprisingly good southern favorites that I simply would not have expected being from Georgia. We have created some of the greatest memories at this resort.

Sorry for the long post. I am simply remembering past vacations and missing the place. We will be going back next year and we plan to have a blow out Disney year with AP's and the whole nine yards. We went last year ...like four times on a previous Disney blow out year. I want to miss it again. I already do as you can tell here , but I want to really miss it. You know what I mean. The Dis is just the therapy I need to carry me over to 2013. The kids are getting older and I have worried that they may lose that Disney magic. So far signs are....NOT A CHANCE!! They are still Disney nuts just like me.Thanks guys!
