Hey kids,
I'm sure this has been asked already but I can't find it. We are booked for FQ (6/17-21) river view. On the website it says 'complimentary wi-fi access' (also riverside says the same) and on other resorts it says 'high-speed internet access (additional fee)'. I'm an old man and other than the fee, not sure what the difference is. Does it mean I can bring my laptop to Boatwrights's abd surf to info-highway with my coffe and beignet at no charge?:confused3

Thanks for any help and have a MAGICAL day,

Andy

As long as your laptop has wi-fi, that'll work fine. The wireless connection in the main buildings is reported to be a good deal faster than in the rooms too.

Hey All! This is my very first post! We are in the beginning stages of planning a trip with our oldest daughter (age 5 - her little sister gets her own trip when she turns 5) and want to go in January - when do those dates become available for booking? Is that a good time to go? We've settled on POFQ after MUCH research! :lovestruc

I am so excited that thinking about it makes me get choked up and I am not a crier! I have some very wonderful memories with my now deceased mother, particularly Dumbo. I told my husband I need to go a day early so I don't spend the whole time sobbing.

You can book now for Janaury if you want, but you'll need to do it by phone as the full packages and prices won't be released online for a few months yet. Once the actual prices come out, your booking will be updated (you can always cancel or modify it at will). January is usually very quiet, but of course it can be a little cooler than Flordida is generally known for!

You can book a room only reservation right now, but like the previous poster said, you must call to do so (I'm a Disney TA, so I know the drill). Last year, package pricing for 2012 became available in June, but in previous years it wasn't out until August.

We went in January 2009 and had a fabulous time! The highs were in the mid 70's with NO humidity and at night it got a little cool....in the 50's. We stayed off property (gasp!) so we rented a locker each day to store our jeans and zip up hoodies. There were quite a few tour groups there at the end of January, but we just went the opposite way as them when we saw them. The crowds were very low and we had a great time.

Just Booked today and i am freaking out with excitement!!!!! so much to do, so little time!!!! Coming back to our favorite place in the world, French Quarter, 5/3/12 to 5/12/12!!! so excited!!!

Just booked POFQ for our September trip with free dining; so, so excited!! It will be our first time staying on property with dd4 and ds1. I have wanted to stay at this resort since my sister took her dd in 2003. We are even taking an entire day away from the parks to enjoy the hotel, pool and boat to DTD. I hope we love it as much as I think we will:goodvibes

Just wanted to add another vote for FQ for the poster who has a hubby with bad knees. My parents normally stay at the FQ, but stayed at POR on their last trip. My dad has problems with his feet due to diabetes and his only complaint about POR was the long walks to get to the lobby and food court.

To the FQ veterans,

We are booked for another stay at FQ (6/17-21), but with an odd number of occupants this time. We have a river view. My questions are; I'd like to request Bldg 5 (I think) for the best views of the river (?)

And I think the corner rooms have the extra windows and are king beds only?

Either way, I'm in packing mode already!:)

Have a MAGICAL day,

Andy

We've booked POFQ for the end of September, I'm so excited to stay there!!!!:yay:

How do you post the link to your PTR with a name rather than showing the URL? I can't figure it out and I am going nuts!!

I know this isn't the proper place to post the question, but Im going crazy and no help from my post on the technical thread yet. :confused3

And I think the corner rooms have the extra windows and are king beds only?

Oh I am so hoping this is the case! Sorry I can't answer your question, but this is exactly what we are hoping for when we get there in September - a corner room w/2 windows and a king bed! :woohoo:

Anyone know if this is the case?

We have just booked a trip for Dec. 14 - 21st!!! We are taking our friend and her 2 kids!!! The kids will all miss the last week of school before Christmas Break! I am so excited, we haven't been to WDW for the Christmas Holidays in almost 5 years :santa:. I can't wait!!!! We are going to celebrate my DD's Sweet Sixteen :bday:!!!! Resort of Her Choice !!

Just got back from our first stay at POFQ and we loved it. The courtyard refurb is still underway. We were able to peek inside and saw they were laying the walkway. We requested ground floor building 5 as my mother just had knee surgery and got it. We were in 5114 which was across from the pool and close to the food court. She rented a ECV (scooter) for the week from an outside company and was able to fit it in the room. The only bus that stopped at POR was the evening Epcot bus. We hardly ever waited for a bus more than 5 min. The mousekeeper made us 3 different animals during our week there and our room was always clean.

Sorry, there's no particular link between corner rooms and King Bed rooms. Some King Bed rooms happen to be on corners, and some corner rooms happen to have King Beds - but there are also lots of queen bed rooms on corners too.

If you particularly want one, I'd suggest putting in a request for an external corner room (external so that the extra window doesn't end up looking into a stairwell or similar)

Stayed at POFQ last weekend and was very happy with my stay. I requested a room on the ground floor and near transportation due to the fact that I had recently hurt both of my ankles/feet. I was placed in room 3115 which also happened to be a cornor room. I must admite having two windows was very nice. I loved how everything was really close together. I had a friend staying in building 6 and it took me less than 5 minutes to get to her room.

The court yard refurb was a minor inconvience but nothing I couldn't handle. The longest I had to wait for a bus was 10 minutes and I never had to share a bus with POR (but than I went early in the morning and came back in the evening). I was a little disappointed with the food court as my chicken encilada was gross so I didn't eat it. The one morning I went to eat breakfast there I ended up getting yogurt and fruit since there was nothing listed on the menu's yet.

Mousekeeping did a great job and always left my room nice and clean for me. I even got a towel animal 2 out of the three days I was there. In all it was a very nice resort and will definatly keep them in mind the next time I go to WDW.

Here is a pic of my room

POFQ lovers, how far is it to walk over to POR? I heard they have a make your own pasta, but POFQ doesn't. If that's the case, I would like to go over to POR and I hear they are sister hotels adjacent to each other. Is it close enough to walk? Thanks in advance :-)
