We are staying at POFQ next month. My bro and SIL will be with us and this is their first ever visit to wdw. I want to give them the "Grand Entrance" to Epcot, which IMO, is coming into that park via the monorail. (I still remember the goosebumps I got on my first time coming in that way back in '87!)
So my ? is... are there buses that run from PO to TTC? If not, which would be the best option- Taking the MK bus from PO or driving to the TTC? Any other suggestions?
TIA for your input! :wave2:

There are no buses from the resorts to the TTC.

Taking the bus to MK then ferry or monorail to the TTC. That way they could bus directly back to POFQ at the end of the day.

This is probably the best way to do what you are suggesting, however this is not the best way (as you probably know) to get to Epcot.

I wish I was coming with you. Hope everything goes well, have fun!

Thanks! I didn't think there was a direct bus from POFQ to TTC but I figured I'd ask to be sure.
I know it's a round-about way of getting to Epcot from POFQ but...... I haven't entered Epcot that way in many many years. Just today someone posted a pic of the Epcot monorail on Facebook and captioned it "the best way to arrive in Epcot" and all the memories of my first ever arrival in any WDW park -- pulling into Epcot on the monorail from TTC (where my father in law had parked) and from the window overlooking so much of the park when it circled Futureworld and then stepping off of the monorail station and being in awe of the size of the geosphere ........my heart just started to race with anticipation.... I remember thinking at the time...
"WDW was going to be sooo much more than I'd imagined"

I want that experience for the "WDW virgins" that are coming with us-- even if it means going out of our way a bit. ::yes::

Remember you asked for input.

This could possibly backfire. While you see it as the grand entrance to Epcot for these Disney Newbie's they may see it differently.

They may ask why did you wake us up an hour early to go out of our way and make three transfers just so we could enter the park your way when there is a direct bus that could have gotten us there in x number of minutes. :)

All you would need is a monorail breakdown.

I guess what I'm saying don't try to force your expectations onto these people.

Wow! enraged family and monorail breakdowns, oh my! Talk about your "worse-case-senario". I could also worry about a car accident driving the 16hrs south, a stomach flu running through the family, hurricane hitting FL that week, terrorist attack on 9/11, etc etc. But I think I'd like to anticipate my trip in a more positive light!

LOL These wdw virgins will not know how many minutes it would have taken them to get to Epcot directly by bus. Heck, they probably wouldn't even know that I'm taking them on a round about way if I didn't tell them. :lmao: When my in-laws parked at TTC in '87, bought tickets then hopped on the monorail to Epcot I had no idea that wasn't THE ONLY way to get to Epcot.

I'll tell you what.... I'll give them the two options and just let them choose.:thumbsup2

Its just I remember a thread where someone wanted the exact special way they remember getting to the MK by ferry and wanted the same for her boyfriend.

And just like you (but in reverse) she would have had to bus to Epcot, get on the monorail to the TTC, get off and then get on the Ferry. Oh and also make RD. :)

All of those things are so much less likely to happen than a monorail breakdown. The system is old and becoming less reliable all the time. I'm all for a positive attitude, but I think you need to be realistic, too. The chances of a breakdown are still relatively small, but probably much more likely than you realize. It's something worth thinking about.

If you stick with your plan, You'll need to be at the bus stop around 7:15, take the bus to MK, Take the monorail or the ferry to the TTC, Then take the Monorail to Epcot.

The only cooler way to enter Epcot is walking through the International Gateway:) I say take the monorail, like you say, they don't. know differently:thumbsup2

T want to say

Just want to point out that a hurricane hitting FL during height of hurricane season isn't necessarily unlikely. Nor is a family passing around stomach flu to each other.:goodvibes

I guess they will find out the wasted time on the trip back to the resort.

Does anyone realize that they might be giving 'advice' that wasn't requested? :confused3
I wonder if any of you were that negative and cynical about your first WDW trip. I know I wasn't, I was too into the magic.

::yes::::yes:: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
True, I asked for input... on my question which was "So my ? is... are there buses that run from PO to TTC? If not, which would be the best option- Taking the MK bus from PO or driving to the TTC? Any other suggestions?"

Basically factual in nature - what's the best way to get from point a to point b, this way or that way or any other suggestions on how to best travel between these two locations? I don't know how the potential family dynamics of my group would come to be under scrutiny. I never asked, "Do you think this is a good idea?" "How do you think my family will respond to this plan?" or anything like that. And to bring up a monorail breakdown? That is a risk for every single rider of the monorail system in wdw. Why toss that wet blanket at me? I'm really excited about this trip, come on! sheesh

I wish the mods would just delete this thread. My question was answered by the first to reply. I thanked the person immediately. My mistake was to share, on a public forum, what is one of my fondest wdw memories. Little did I know it would be fodder for negativity.

The same thing has happened to me on numerous occasions. Therefore, I lurk or search for threads re: my question. Kinda sad that I have to do that though.

You will undoubtedly have a magical trip and being a newbie once, I'd like to thank you for trying to make their trip so special!

Again, thanks so much!

Its not negativity just another point of view.

Just don't be disappointed if your guests don't have the same enthusiasm as you did 16 years ago. Hopefully they will also find their own magic. pixiedust: :thumbsup2

I am NOT deleting this thread. This is going to be a 'teaching moment'!!!

PEOPLE!!!! Can we not force our negativity on others??? Can a hurricane come through? Sure. Could someone get sick at WDW? Yep. Is it shorter to just hop on the bus and go to Epcot? Sure. Could the monorail break down? Most certainly. Will the others in the group be peeved by getting up 30 mins earlier than absolutely necessary??? Maybe.
BUT.....most of that has absolutely no bearing on the question that was asked. Man...talk about a bunch of wet blankets.....:confused3 What the heck happened to being positive and upbeat??? Yeah, I know..no pixiedust here on Transportation. But man.....lighten up people.

I love taking WDW virgins on their first trips. It's so much fun. And no, I don't ever expect that they will have the same first time experiences that I had. But...I do know where and how to get the most bang for my buck. I think that crazymomof4 has a great idea here. Man, no harm in taking a bus to MK and then monorailing over to TTC and taking the Epcot line in. It's one of my favorite ways to enter Epcot. Man, so what if it takes a little longer???
I would say go for it. Have a ball!! It's a terrific idea. And, they get to experience MK from afar as well....nice way to see it for the first time. If you do have a car, it would be fastest to drive to the TTC. But, you then have to go back there to get the car at the end of the day.

I don't think warning someone not to get too excited about other people's possible reactions is being negative. It would be awful to go thru all the trouble the OP wants to go thru, and then have her family not be as excited as the OP remembers being on that monorail ride.

I say the OP should go for it, but not put too much pressure on herself or her family members by expecting them to react a certain way. Don't have so many expectations of the moment that anything other than her family being prostrate with joy is a let down, kwim?

Do it, and then just let the moment happen.

Since I brought it up first I feel responsible for steering this thread in this direction but this was the idea I was trying to get across.
