Port Hotels - Radisson vs. Doubletree

Any reviews of hotels by the port? I've heard some scary things about the Radisson on other boards (filthy, pool closed, rude staff) which makes me nervous about staying there. Any word on the Doubletree?

I have not been, yet, but I do know that the Radisson has been one of the 'hotels of choice' for people on the cruise board here.... I have never heard even one bad review yet!!!! Just the opposit. Beautiful pool... Nice room... Friendly service...

We have reserved a room there for our upcoming cruise. The free parking helps too.

We stayed at the Doubletree before a cruise 2 years ago. It is a nice hotel, right on the beach, a little bit further from the port.

As far as the rooms go, it's probably the same as the Radisson ( no great pool, tho ) and you do get chocolate chip cookies when you check in

But we only stayed there b/c we got an awesome rate that could even justify the extra spent to park our car...you can leave it free at the Radisson.

We loved the radisson. We were just there in May 2003 and could not get over how big the rooms were. Huge jet tub that the five year old had a great time in not to mention the fun that we had in it when he fell asleep.

We are from the same town! That's never happened to me before on the DIS..

Did you go the the long or short cruise? We are going this Oct., bringing our grown up kids on their first cruise.

We went on the seaven day and loved every single minute of it, so much in fact that we booked another 7 day for May 2, 2004.

Lived here in fayetteville now for about eight years. It's not too bad at all, i've learned to love it.
