POR - Tell Me Something That I've Never Heard Before!

When checking in at POR, the CM told us that the chandelier hanging in the registration lobby is the chandelier image Disney Imagineers used in drawing the dance scene in the movie Beauty & the Beast !!
We came home & checked out the movie, and it sure looked like it !
We thought that was pretty cool!
We were in building 18 in AB and loved that one of us could walk (& may I add a beautiful peaceful morning stroll) to the food court, fill up a tray with yummies & coffee and walk back & we could eat in our room and relax & get ready !!
A group of 10ppl are going there this November, most for the 1st time, I think they will enjoy it ! :beach: :sail:

That's a cool story about the chandelier! Now I'll pay extra close attention to it. :thumbsup2

I totally agree it's the little things I love at POR like the fan things in the lobby and the old fashion toilets in the lobby bathroom it cracks me up! It's the whole reason we stay at a Disney hotel you can't get the same attention to detail anywhere else!

Just wanted to add a few more tips...

The fishing hole is a place to go where you can actually rent cane pole and bait.

Pralines are sold in the bakery and I read that it's the only place you can buy them on Disney property.

You can take a carriage ride around bot POR and POFQ. I think this would be so romantic at night!!!

Have a great trip!

Wah! Now I wanna go!! :p

I agree, carriage rides sound super romantic!

Did you know that there is a kids BINGO game at the pool in the afternoon around 4 ish? $1.00 per game Also, I think we found hidden mickies on the shelf brackets above the refrigerators.

The sweet potato pancakes at Boatrights are fantastic!

The best bartender is a good friend of mine, ask for Gray when you belly up to the bar!

Never did find them when we stayed there, I asked everyone in the food court, the restaurant, the gift shop, the front desk and they looked at me like I was from another planet.....

What a great thread. We stayed at POR last July for our first family trip and loved it so much we are returning next May. We loved that carriage ride and renting a pontoon boat - the kids had so much fun driving the boat. I agree about the driver of the boat to DTD - wonderful scenery and great info given :) It was PERFECT for our first stay :)

I loved walking over the brigde from Parterre Place to the food court every morning with my refillable mug. Enjoy!

Maybe they don't sell them anymore? The last time we were there has been a great while. : (

Bump! Would love to see more recent comments to add to these good ones :-) Will be staying at POR in Oct

We like to stay at POFQ but here's my contribution about POR...it has the best arcade!!!
