This was our first time staying at the POR and I ahve to say that I loved it..For a family of 5 it cannot be beat. WE arrived on Saturday June 11. We did not wait but maybe five minutes to check in. I was going throught the check-in process when the woman said we would be in like building 34 or something (I don't remeber which building she said) all I know is that it sounded like it was far away. I asked if she had anything closer to the main building. She said all she had was building 18 which was smoking. I said I will take I just did not want to be far form the bus stop. Well, she did some more typing took back our keys and we are now in building 15. I thanked her over and over again. WE had a great room location. We walked through our parking lot and we were at the main bus stop, and we were close to a quite pool and not to far from the main building.

Mousekeeping was sufficient the room was clean, we had plenty of towels and pillows but no towel animals, but I will take the clean room.

The food court was great. It was a pain to wait in more then one line if you wanted different food items but that was the only complaint. The cashiers were very friendly and knowledgeable of the food plan.

The buses were great most days. For the amount of people disney transports I think the buses were great. My dh loved the idea of not having to drive anywhere for an entire week. I think we had very good luck with the buses all week. We heard some people say that they had to wait over an hour for a bus at a water park but we never had to wiat more than 15 minutes.

Overall I loved the POR we would definetly stay here again. Let me know if you have any questions...

glad to hear that you liked it... we absolutely love this resort. i think it is very relaxing. we have been there many times, and like to call it our second home! :flower:

Thanks for your report. We will be staying there in 10 days....WOW...10 days!!!!
I was concerned that it would not be "Disney themed" enough. We like the value resorts because of the theming. But because of having 5 people in our family now, over 2, POR was the only other affordable option. We booked a horse and carriage ride. Did you go on one? or see them? are they nice?

Happy to hear such good things about POR. DH and I will be staying there for the first time in a few months. Can't wait!

I am so happy to read a positive experience. We are returning to POR in July. It is my favorite. After reading a couple negative reports I was wondering if it had changed at all.

Sounds like it's still wonderful.

Who do you call to book the carriage ride?

Is building 15 in Aligator Bayou or the Mansion??
Post some pics if you have some!!

For the carriage rides, I'm guessing you could call the resort directly and they would refer you to the right # (407) 934-6000.

I can't wait!!

104 days to go!!

Thanks for the report. I am glad to hear how fast the busses are coming (and this is the busy season).

This will be our first time to WDW and I wasn't sure if I made the right choice since we already live in Bayou Country.

I am not sure how to post pictures yet I am still trying to figure that one out (I did take over 500 pictures this trip). I did see people on the carriage ride. We were on the boat to DTD and we saw the carriage. Everyone waived. It looked very nice and relaxing.

Hi!

I'll tell you how i do it. I opened an account (FREE) with photobucket.com and i upload all my pics there. Then, you copy the link beside Img - usually starts with http:// ....etc.

Then you just post the link up, right in your text box here.
Once you hit preview, all your pics should come up. One advice - with photobucket, only the jpg's work - no bmp. (format of the picture - .jpg or .bmp)

Great to hear the good review. We are going back next April and will be taking our niece (which makes us 5). We really want to stay on site, so it appears that this is our only affordable option. Does anyone know how many rooms they have at POR that can accomodate 5? I guess my question really is - should I book now or do they have plenty of these rooms? Also, are these rooms the same price (ie Standard - Regular season 2006 $155/night rack)?

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for the positive feedback. I have heard so many negative things about POR (but wanted to try it for ourselves before we judge it)....

8 days for us.

I can't wait.

We stayed at POR AB the first week of May and really loved it too. If you get a chance, make sure you catch Bob Jackson in the lounge one night. He's there from Wed through Sat nights, I believe, and he puts on a great show for adults and kids alike.

Cottontail- my dh was amazed at how down to a science I had all the rides. I made everyone get up early and be at the park for opening and then hit the most popular rides first. By using fp and emh mornings we did not wait more than 15 min for any rides. The rides did have long wiat times later in the day over an hour for space mtn, and hour and half for soarin...etc I used tourguide mike and the unofficail guide and we rode all the major rides...let me know if you have any more questions...Another hint.. in case you did not know fastpasses are good long after the hour stated. They will not let you in early but they will let you in any time later even in the evening. We did this many times

Thanks for the review--we're staying there in August for the first time! Do they provide towels for you at the pools, or do you just bring the towels from your room?

We just got home from POR and we absolutely LOVED it! It is a beautiful resort. We will definately stay there next time.

We did not do a carraige ride, but a lot of people did. It looked great. The horse was HUGE!

Definately do the boat ride to DTD. So pretty and relaxing.

Towels are provided at the main pool on Ol' Man Island, but not at the quiet pools.

To everyone who will soon be there, have a WONDERFUL time! I wish I were already going again!

Couple of ???

How was the trundle bed? While looking at some pics. it seems big enough for my DD3, but doesn't look too comfortable, how did you find it?

While it does fit a family of 5, in all honesty...how does a family of 5 really fit in one room here? Did you feel cramped?
