Here are some photos from our stay at POR last week.

1st up, our Alligator Bayou building...

We had requested a 1st floor (3 kids and no elevator is not a good thing at the end of a very hot day), non-parking lot view. Despite the resort being nowhere near full, we got a 2nd floor, parking lot facing room. Fortunately, the parking lot was mostly screened by trees. Also, we were set back from it enough to not be bothered by lights and noise. Most importantly, our room location was fantastic given the July heat and humidity. Only a few building 14 rooms would have been closer to the food court, and the South bus stop (the main one) was straight down the stairs and across the parking lot (again, couldn't have been much closer!!!) Here is our view...

The fastest route for us to reach the main swimming pool was to take a winding path along the parking lot by building 14 and over to the Colonel's Cotton Mill...

We could cross the bridge there to Ol' Man Island...

The kids really enjoyed the main pool during the first couple of days. On our 2nd day, an afternoon thunderstorm caused the pool to close until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike was detected within 8 miles. Quite a line had formed to re-enter the pool area by the time it was reopened.

The kids really enjoyed the slide, although it was quite short. There was always a line, but it moved quickly.

The details were great -- down to the palmetto leaf pattern in the concrete...

After a couple of days of Florida heat and humidity, the kids were completely happy to just visit the quiet pool very close to our room...

We did our laundry with no wait (!!!!) one afternoon. BTW, the sign says that $2 gets you 30 minutes of dryer time. Not true!! All of our dryers would stop after only 20 minutes!! That was some expensive laundry. However, it was well worth it to not have to cart so much clothing with us!

Back to our room...We were in AB Building #15 -- room 1553. Here is the view that greeted us as we opened our door for the 1st time. (It was never neat again!)

Housekeepers were very friendly and left tons of towel animals. This was the arrangement we found after our first day...

However, this room was nowhere near as clean as our Sports room (1st night). We found 2 toys from previous guests (and lots of dust!!!) under our bed. Only a walkway was vacuumed down the main pathways of our room each day. Linens were NOT changed every 3 days as the literature states. In fact, younger ds' obviously dirty pillowcase (red juice splotches...from him) was never changed.

Here is some mildew and soap scum in the tub area...

My goodness, I was there 07/14 - 07/21 in building 15 room 1551. And after looking through your pictures, we have both snapped alot of the same shots!!! My trip was wonderful and I can not wait to go back.

Why were there red "juice splotches" on the pillowcases???
