Hi! So my husband and I will be going back to Disney with our 2 young sons in November and, for the first time, we will be staying at a moderate resort. We have narrowed it down to POR- RIV and CBR but are having a hard time deciding between the 2. I have never been to either one, so any information would be helpful!!! PLEASE :worship:

Thanks!

btw- our sons will be 5 and 2 for the trip..in case that info is helpful. Thanks again!!

Well I can only talk about POR. I say go with this but maybe the bayou side as then you could have the trundle bed and the boys don't have to share. Your youngest can then be low to the ground.
I love this resort it's so tranquil there and the pool is a lot of fun.

We are going to CBR at the end of August. Part of the reason we chose this resort is the pool area. Our boys will be 7 and 4 when we go and I think they will absolutely LOVE the pirate ship play area at the pool. I feel as though CBR will be relaxing for us(the parents) and extremely fun for the kids. The POR resort seems like it would appeal mainly to adults rather than children, but I could be wrong.

We have stayed at both locations. Of the 2 preferred CBR. Don't get me wrong love the southern mansion feel of POR. But we were much closer to the bus stop at CBR and when you are coming back from parks late at night and having to carry a sleeping child bus location is everything. :upsidedow

the kids will prob enjoy the pool at CBR.

We've not stayed at either (we stay at a different moderate), but we have visited both of the ones you list a number of times (we have eaten at all of them, walked the grounds, seen the inside of a room, seen the pools, etc.). Although we prefer the food court at the POR-Riverside a whole lot over the one at the CBR, I think the new pirate themed pool area would be ideal for your kids because there is a zero entry pool for the 2-year old.

We have stayed at both over the last couple of years. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. POR was our old favorite (loved the magnolia section). Last year we decided to try CBR. I was really reluctant to try anything new since we loved everything about POR. We were pleasantly surprised with CBR. The pools were awesome, beautiful landscaping, sandy beaches, great food court and newly renovated rooms. When it came time to book this years trip, the kids (8 and 6) asked if we could stay at CBR. I think it is our new favorite resort.

One thing to note with young kids, CBR has a pirate ship at the pool with all the splashy stuff. It also has water slides that dumps the kids into shallow water at the end.

I have stayed at POR two years ago. It was really nice. This year we are staying at CBR. At the time our daughter was 5 years old. She liked the main pool. It had a large shallow swimming area for kids. To me the pool was OK.
Nothing special but not bad either.

I'd go with CBR for the pool for the kids. DGD(5) loved the pirate pool play area and the zero entry pool!

CBR.
We hated POR compared to it.
I guess we like the beachy feel.

I prefer POR, I love everything about it!
CBR is very pretty, great pool but I don't really care for the guest rooms.

We've have stayed at both, and are going back to CBR in Sept. Our first trip with DD at 1.5yrs old we stayed at POR, and felt it was perfect. Resort is very quiet and laid back. Food court at POR was great, many different choices, and the onsite bakery was delicious.
We tried CBR last year, DD now 2.5yrs. For us, the theme was more to our liking at CBR. DD really enjoyed the beaches, and the main pool was much more fun at CBR. We didn't like the food court at CBR as much as POR, but it wasn't bad, just not as many choices, and no bakery. Not enough of a big deal to stop us from staying there again this year.
We think CBR is more geared to children, which is why we are going back. Honestly, we were happy with both resorts. I don't think you'll be making a mistake no matter which one you choose. GL and have a great vacation.

I think since you have 2 boys you will like CBR over POR myself. I have stayed at both and loved them both. Book a Pirates room for the boys will love it. The pool is very much geared towards children here. Both resorts have quiet pools as well. It is really up to what appeals to you. You can't go wrong with either. Have a great time.

If you go with CBR, you need to weigh off, however, between the preferred rooms (next to main pool, pirate play splash area, Old Port Royale- the central food court) and a pirate room (which is much further from all those things- I think they do it on purpose to get people to request that area!). If pirate theme is no big deal to you, get a preferred room - with a 2 year old you'll appreciate it, plus busses are close by (that's either place). Preferred rooms would have a VERY loose nemo theme. You'll still get the pirate feel with the splash zone and on Ol' Man Isle there are cannons.

We loved CBR. I think your kids will love the pool area. As someone else suggested, with kids that young I'd go with a preferred area if you want to be near the food court and main pool. It is a big resort.

My family and i r stayin at POR. i hear the food court is wonderful and the poolis good also. My son is goin to be 8 when we go back. my parents stayed CBR last yr.
