popup

Pete - We've had 2 pop's and enjoyed the stew outta both of them. The first one (we got it right after we got married & christened it on our honeymoon at...Fort Wilderness) was nothing more than 2 pull-out beds and a floor. It was a Nomad & as basic as you can get - more like a tent with wheels & a vinyl floor.

Our 2nd one was a Starcraft & had everything but a shower & toilet. The only time I ever disliked owning a pop was one time when we had to set up and take down in the rain. Other than that a pop-up maintains that sense of camping while giving you some creature comforts. Plus - there isn't a whole lot the kids can destroy - which makes camping a lot more relaxing.

Just make sure your HOA restrictions allow for you to open it up and air it out when you get back from a trip. This is an absolute necessity if you have to break camp with wet canvas either from rain or heavy dew.

We loved our pop ups. The first one cost $175 and I carried a needle and thread because I had to do canvas repairs everytime we went out but it was enough to convince DH that I actually knew what I was talking about when I said camping would be a great idea for our family. We have had 2 and the only complaint we ever really had was setting up in the rain.

I'm in the cold Midwest. My popup is in storage only 20 miles from Fort Wilderness. I made the mistake of going to the RV show last weekend and now I want a Hybrid!!

We saw a few at our show last week. Hybrids are definately nice for room and weight.

Thats Nice!:thumbsup2 We had a pop up! I loved the how easy it was! Low maintenance !

We have a hybrid and LOVE it. We've got a 2008 Starcraft Travelstar 21SB, and there is enough room for the 5 of us and the 2 (large) dogs, and towing it is a breeze.

Like I said...you ain't gonna like it. No matter how much they deny it. Every popup owner/user has travel trailer envy. There are a few posting now and are trying to convince YOU how much they love their popup but they are actually trying to convince THEMSELVES how much they love their popup. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! Everyone who is selling their popup are buying travel trailers. I suggest you check into this group which was formed to help popup owners with this problem. They are called "POTTE". POPUP OWNERS with TRAVEL TRAILER ENVY. They have group sessions all over the US. You can find them at www.POTTE.com. ATTEND ONE CLOSE TO YOU AND YOU WILL BE CONVINCED. :scared1::rolleyes1

Forgot to mention another reason we love our hybrid. Besides having the regular TT bathroom and shower in it, I like the option of being able to turtle if we had to or wanted to. With the bunkends open, we have 2 double beds (one on either end) and one full bed (off the back side), so we can sleep 5 adults comfortably in the bunks alone. With the bunkends closed, we've got the fold out sofa, and the fold-down dinette. The dinette realistically would only fit a small child (our 5 year old has slept there comfortably) and if push came to shove, you could sleep two on the sofa. That would mean that our two DD's would be on the floor in sleeping bags, but at least we have the option of not having to open/set up if we ever need to stop somewhere for a quick overnight. IMO, hybrids are the best of both worlds.

Geeeez.....his wife outhunts him, and suddenly EVERYBODY ELSE has masculinity issues and UNIT SIZE ENVY!!!!:lmao::lmao:

I admit...when I shop around the Campingworld lot, I get the bug. All the nice interior decor and neat little gadgets and genius usage of available space. But theres ONE THING that makes me love my popup MORE than even the classiest ClassA......ITS PAID FOR!! It "sits in my garage" alot more than "I SIT IN IT"...so all of the INBETWEEN TRIPS downtime doesnt cost me a dime, where as MOST folks have a sizable monthly payment thats due whether its getting used or not!!!

Yes......Im a cheapskate....but only by FORCE, and many of us are FORCED right now!!

Ohhhhh....and just for the record....POTTE.com has NOTHING to do with popups!!!!(Yes....the curiosity grabbed me by the throat and wouldnt let go until I checked the site!!!!:lmao:)

I agree! I don't like monthly payments on anything! It takes some of the fun out of it!

"May the FORCE be with us.",
wait, that aint right,
"The FORCE IS with us",

what ever,,as if we hava choice,:lmao:

I think this is the DARK SIDE of the force.....wheres the cookies they promised???:)

I don't think my wife would like me pee-ing in the cabinet, lol.... looks good. We have to clean the garage out first.

as for airing it out, we don't camp in the rain. I"m a pretty princess afterall. actually, the HOA can kiss my grits.

I am so glad there is no HOA were we live. Pee-ing in the cabinet's sounds like a college game.
