POP's latest&greatest Frig Swap (still have openings)

HI All,

We Just HAD to return to the REAL world..... we had a fantastic trip !!! :santa:

12-22 to 12-30 in room #2457 (back side of building B 4th floor) we could see the space ship earth at EPCOT and the top of the Tower of terror at MGM and watch Illuminations every night right from outside our room. :cloud9:

We got dream fast passes at MGM!!! :cool1:

We got a special back stage look at EPCOT and got to drive under the track of Test Track. :thumbsup2

So glad we had the fridge to keep our DD7 soy milk in. Thanks DISNEYDAZ

We loved it so much we bought into the Disney Vacation Club at Saratoga Springs (signed the papers on Chrismas day!!) so we won't be going back to POP, even though we loved it there...

Hope every one had a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year...

Alan

I would be interested in Nov26-Dec7/07 if it is available. Just let me know and how much I owe! Thanks Kathy

We'll be there September 25 - October 3, 2007. If there's space available for us we'd love to go on the list!

We're hoping for free dining, but going with or without it! :wizard:

I will be at POP on from May 3 to May 10 2007 and would be interested. I have a paypal account. I was wondering what does it cost and how do we swap the fridge?

you HAVE HAVE HAVE to share any cheap airfare prices you get (LAX or SNA or others)[/ QUOTE]

If you haven't done so already, do yourself a favor and download Southwest Airlines' DING!

I've had it only 3 days and I've seen some of the cheapest fares to + from Albany/LAX/San Diego/Orlando. I'm hooked!

For those who haven't heard of it yet, Ding is a special alert for fares to airports that you subscribe to. They are only offered for a brief time and on limited flights, but I've seen one way tickets as low as $49 each way. Plus, Southwest allows no-penalty fare/flight swaps. Its a win-win!:cheer2:

I'll have to try DING again-I downloaded it last year and I never got it to work. I'll have to put it on my mom/sister's office computer (here in the house) and hope it works better with her DSL than my Aol.

That's ok that you are going to be there for my dates BUT you HAVE HAVE HAVE to share any cheap airfare prices you get (LAX or SNA or others) and PROMISE me that you will share any great minivan rental rates like you got last year.
fenfur-We usually fly out of ONT. That's normally the best rates we can get. The only issue is that no one flies direct to MCO from ONT. We got a pretty good fair last Sept. on Delta. I think it was about $250/rt each. The cheapest (and quickest) flight we've every gotten was on SONG (now merged with Delta) We flew roundtrip from LAX to MCO for $180! Nonstop! Unfortunately since we live in Corona, we have to leave about 3 hrs. before flight time to get to LAX (and park car somewhere-for which we have to pay) we've decided that it doesn't really save that much time and ONT is a great airport! You can park so close to the terminal that it only takes about 5 mins. to walk-in. And being close to home, one of my sisters will drive us, and pick us up. :goodvibes

fenfur-did you hear the fireworks last night? We were there (with, I think, most of the AP holders!) :goodvibes We went for the evening and were lucky enough to park in Timon. The main structure was closed (FULL) as was the satelite lot off of Disney Way.

The way I get (and got last year) the great rates on car rental is I book Alamo about 2 months ahead and just keep checking rates every so often, right up until the day before we leave. If the rate is lower, I book the lower rate and then cancel the older one. Other than Jan. 06, this has always worked and we have gotten a great rate! I love Alamo since you get to pick out the vehicle you want, within your price level. We always get a great minivan, usually with build-in DVD player, remote control side doors, etc. We love it! Many times I've pointed out to other renters the better vans they can get (seems like people usually pick the closest one) and also I show them where the extra set of keys are located. It would have saved us a lost key charge on one trip if we had known. They also keep the car manual with the spare key.

I'll pencil you in. Cross your fingers it's still around then. (I'm crossing mine too!)

We tried to go on the 2nd for the evening and it was sooo ugly trying to get parking (Mickey and Friends was closed)that we said no way. We're not big fans of big crowds, so we had to bribe our 3 year old to go do something else. I think we are going to try and go tomorrow night if DH gets home early enough or go on Sunday :sad1: , which won't be fun. But if we ride Small World, see the Christmas Parade, and see fireworks then we accomplished our goals.

Ack at ONT with no direct flights. I think we need a direct flight seeing as how we will have 3 kids under the age of 5, the extra time for a changeover I think would put them over the edge. Plus we are in Costa Mesa, so LAX is only like a 45 min drive for us, with no traffic.

Thanks for the tips on the car rentals!

How big is the "new" fridge that POP replaced it with? Is it the same size as the old one?

And, umm, if so,.... how big was the old one?:bitelip:

I can't find the original thread, I know there was a picture. I'm trying to plan our Garden Grocer order.
Thanks so much! :goodvibes

It's my understanding that it is the exact same ref. I originally bought.

Here's the one I got
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2638128

Features & Specifications:
Down-sized for space-challenged dorm rooms, businesses and apartments, this compact refrigerator keeps your favorite beverages and snacks close at hand. Providing both can and 2-liter bottle storage, it also has a freezer compartment.

1.8-cubic foot capacity
Half-width freezer compartment with ice cube tray(we didn't use the ice tray-used the space for water bottles instead)
Full-width slide-out wire shelf( we also removed this while we had the gal. milk and 2 liter soda in it.)
Can storage
2-liter bottle storage
7 temperature settings
Reversible door design
Manual defrost
Space-saving flat-back design
Energy efficient
CFC free
Size: 20.5L x 18.75W x 19.5H

Maybe one of the swappers (from Fire14 on) can provide more info. Fire14: Bbangel; Zoie;MARY-IN-OH;rx2755; or Tishke all used the replacement fridge. Anyone have the info?

If it is the same, then we were able to fit a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke along with a gallon size milk (my DM bought the gallon-I would get 1/2 gal. to save on room). It stored our leftovers, diet coke, a little fruit, and froze our water bottles just fine. I did make the mistake of turning it too cold at first to freeze the water bottles (a bigger issue when it's hot :sunny: than now) and I ended up freezing the milk. But, no worries, the milk was really cold for our cereal and stayed fresh the entire trip-10 nights :goodvibes

Quick note-everyone please read (Not a rant, just some info :goodvibes )

If you send me a PM I will respond in kind. If you post on this thread, ditto. So, if you ask for your dates on the thread, please check the thread response. As you can imagine, my PM mail box gets full very fast with all the PMs going in and out.

Also, I can't respond to the request daily. I have a life too :rotfl2: and as my DD7 points out, I need to spend time with her too (and don't forget that pesky thing that allows me to go to WDW in the 1st place-work) Look at her picture, how can I deny her anything when she comes to me and says "Mom, can we play a game or ?" So, if I don't respond back within a day or so, don't despair, I will answer you and I use the date and time stamp to determine who has first chance whether it's by PM or a posted reply. Thanks everyone, Terri.

I heard the 2nd was even more crowded.:confused3 On the 3rd we decided to go for it since we already drove in (with 2 cars) and it wasn't too bad. Now granted we only rode one ride but we did see the deocrations, the fireworks, and the snow! Also, DD7 spent some time on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. That wasn't crowded at all. We too are thinking of going back on Sunday for a last chance to see all the holiday stuff. I'm hoping it won't be too bad since it's the last vacation day for many. My DD is actually off track now until Feb. 5th. so if it is too crowded, we can go again in the next month (we will even if it isn't :goodvibes:)

Maybe we'll see you there :goodvibes

There is no longer a cost to join in (The first swappers paid for it already)-this way if the fridge goes missing, I won't feel bad since the later swappers are taking a chance that it'll fall apart before their turn :goodvibes

Thanks so much! I know I've seen that picture before from your original post, but I couldn't find it when I "searched". I think I'm done with my "obsessive need to know everything before I go " questions now!:lmao:

Thank you Disneydaz!! :cheer2:

ETA: I see I'm just behind you in September. If the fridge doesn't make it that far I'd be happy to chip in on a new one if anyone else is interested.

I left the fridge with the front desk at Pop Century this morning for LindaBabe to pick up :)

It definitely came in handy for my family and I and we welcomed having drinks after a late night when the foodcourt had closed.

I just wish I was still there....:(

I managed to fit a bottle of sparkling cider, 6 cans of soda and 9 bottles of orange juice in the fridge with room to spare :D There is plenty of room in there. It is deceptively small looking!

Thanks for info Tishke-I was wondering about leaving it at front desk. I've read on a few other swap threads that some people have done it. That makes it easier than leaving it at Luggage Services. So, those of you still going-you can leave it at front desk if you want.

Glad you had a great time-welcome back (I know how you feel-I was I was still there too!)
