Well...I actually have some experience in this area. DH and I were chosen to be Grand Marshals in the Share a Dream Come True parade on our honeymoon. What did we do to get it...uhh...we were really lucky! We were talking to a CM in a suit who was handing out guide maps first thing after the park opened...I was trading a pin with him, and DH got chatty with him. I wanted to hurry up, because all these people were streaming past and I wanted to get to Space Mountain (DH had never been to MK before). Fortunately for me, I didn't rush them, because in a few minutes the suit asked us if we were going to be staying in the park for the parade...I knew something was up, so I said yes, and he asked if we wanted to be in it. To say I was excited would be an understatement....I started shaking! He had to ask me if I was okay - LOL!

So, we got to ride in a car that Walt himself used to drive at Disneyland, and they gave us a certificate to prove we really were grand marshals. Oh, and we got personalized mouse ears to wear in the parade. Other than that, we don't actually get anything, other than the experience of a lifetime.

I'm sworn to secrecy with the CM's name who chose us, but I can tell you that it's pretty much random. Be nice to those you interact with, look like you're having fun, and everything else is luck. For us, I think it was because we were on our honeymoon.

It won't hurt to ask, but I've also been told that usually for being grand marshalls they won't take anyone who actually asks about it, because they want it to be random. (We asked at City Hall last year at MNSSHP, because it was my nephew's first trip and we thought it would be an amazing thing for my niece and nephew...they told us they'd already picked for the night, though.)

I think what you propose saying above, though, is great! Go for it! It absolutely can't hurt anything, and you never know what magic Disney might work!

Back about 10 pages, someone asked who would be the last one to leave home. We won't be the last to leave home, but we may be among the last to arrive, since we won't be there until sometime in the afternoon on 9/30, and I can't wait!

I'll be here...I have to work until Thursday afternoon of next week! I don't know how I'm going to make it. Today was the longest day ever. I ended up having meetings from 8:30 AM straight through to 4 PM, and I'm exhausted. I'm going to be going to bed in a few minutes and catch up on that much needed beauty rest!

whew!!! I spent my entire dinner break catching up with you folks! chatty chatty chatty bunch are we... I just hope when we cross path anywhere at PoP we'll still be as chatty please feel free to come over if anybody have spotted me ! I always have my antss2001 name on my hat !!! Ok now to share with you my dillema... we are arriving on the 29th as you all know at around 11ish... and also it is the 1st day of the F&W Festival and at the same time we are going to MNSSHP. I would really want to go straight to EPCOT to get those unlimited pins that you can only buy at the center most area tents at EPCOT. Now my question do they have different unlimited pins for F&W as the day progress like the MNSSHP they have unlimited pin release every nite there's a MNSSHP. Now I really wish we had choosen Oct 2 for the party :: I mentioned this in passing to dsis and mom and they both agree that it would be a waste to use separate park tickets for only a couple of hours since we might get done checking in around 12-1PM and at 4:30PM we can go at MK using the MNSSHP.... what do you think ?

Hiya! Yea I agree, I hope we're all this chatty & lovable in person (even WITH our purple bras)....I'm not sure if they have different F&W pins each day...I was able to get several last year when we went on the 4th day? Maybe ask on the Pin/trader whatever board?

I am definitely VERY chatty in person. DH always tells me that I will talk to anyone who doesn't walk away! I must look friendly or something! Of course, it's always fun to meet the people that you've gotten to know before the trip!

We don't collect pins as a rule, but I'm going to try to pick up one of the F&W ones for my DGD. I've been buying a few special pins for her and just putting them away. Someday they'll have some value, even if it's only sentimental!

She collects items with Sleeping Beauty in the blue dress, so I have a few of those pins. They're very hard to find!

We still don't seem to have any ADR matches! I guess that's what happens when you eat at very odd times, but it also makes it much easier to get into some of the restaurants. We eat very late at home because of assorted work schedules, so a 9 PM dinner is just about right for us. Our dinner at Marrakesh is the exception--5 PM is almost lunch time for us!

Oh I just thought of something...I wonder if post 3000 will be on page 200...da da dum....(suspenseful music).

ONE WEEK from today I'll be asleep. We'll be up from 3:00 AM so give me a break! My dad is driving us down to the airport, and since our flight leaves at 6:30 we'll have to leave 3 hours early because of all the traffic down there at 3 in the morning. I plan (did I say plan? Oops, I mean unplan) to get to POP, check-in (not expecting room to be ready at 9am), then go to MK for the day day, eat lunch about 11, then dinner ADR at 3:50, then back to hotel, get room, maybe check out the Pop Jets with DD, and go to bed at 8.
