Hey MrFDNY - Just had to share this with you...I've been trying to come up with a gift for my 2 cousins and their husbands....both of them just bought houses and arein the process of closing/moving in....I went to Home Depot yesterday & while I was there bought 4 CO detectors...2 for our house & 1 for each of them....I don't know if they have them or not...but I thought it couldn't hurt to buy them another.

I was thinking I needed 2....we have 2 furnaces...one that heats the downstairs part of the house and one that heats the upstairs...we have one downstairs but it's about 7 years old..so I decided to replace it. Am I right in my thinking? do I need 2? I want to put one in the hallway upstairs where the 3 bedrooms are, and one inthe family room downstairs where the fireplace is?

& Thanks again for the reminder

:scratchin: I just realized that I envited some of my cousins for a Xmas Eve dinner... :rolleyes2 ... What are you having for dinner ? what do you eat on Xmas dinner :listen:

Breaded & Fried Chicken Breasts, Baked Mostacolli are the staples.... then we kinda add whatever we feel like to it. I always make creamed peas, but no one but me eats them. :confused3

That is exactly why I didnt participate!!!!! #1 - I didnt wanna be the scum-bag non-sender, if something happened, or things didnt work out, or (my biggest fear) I forgot!!! and #2 - I was shafted one year on an Atkins board I was on. I really took a lot of time (and $$$) sending a really nice gift out and got shka'ta!!!

And I freaking hate wrapping presents! FREAKING HATE IT! Mine are all mangled, tape strewn across the whole package, white's of the paper showing. :rotfl: I rush through it immediately upon getting home from buying (whatever) just to get it done!!!

Cat: You are so funny. But that is how I am feeling with the SS thing. But I am so glad Tia organized it and I totally love the idea. It is just me.

With wrapping, I always want them to look so much better than they do. They're okay, but I use character wrapping paper (yes, disney) b/c DD is young. And then I slap a cheesy little bow on and it just doesn't turn out that great.

I'm kinda in the middle of you guys....I don't really like wrapping & it doesn't really look that great....But I do have fun with how I do it...

each year I pick out 4 different wrapping papers for the girls...one santa and one snowman paper for gits from us and a special paper for Santa gifts. I wrap ALL the presents for the girls from everyone - my mom gives me all of hers, & Mike's family has them all shipped here, so each year you're either a Santa or a Snowman....I don't put ANY tage on their gifts they don't find out which ones are theirs till Christmas!!!! IT drives them CRAZY!!!!I also buy a different wrap for all of our other family gifts.

The Santa wrap usually has somethng to do with them...for Gracie this year it's the princess paper with Jasmine on it! for Casey I actually found wrapping paper with ICE SKATES on it!! Santa does't wrap everything - the big present and the nutcracker doesn't get wrapped, but everything else does.

so there's our weird traditions here...what's yours???

Hello!
I'm delurking for a little bit! I read all of the posts and have answers in my head, but then just read more instead of posting. I get more read that way!

Some things I remember: (which isn't much at my age!) :teeth:

CO2 detectors-we have one, but I need to get new batteries for it to make sure it's functioning right. Also need to get a new smoke detector or two.

Juicy Couture-I'm really curious about this now! I know I could never afford it, but maybe I'll find a sample to smell!

Christmas-will be VERY light this year. I've been on medical leave since the middle of June, and am now out of a job. The adults in my family draw names, so once they turn 21 they are in the drawing. My sisters, parents, and us buy for anyone under 21. So, we also have 2 adults to buy for. My 21 year old DS is in on the drawing for the first time this year, and of course wants help to decide what to get my sister. My DD15 is the only one of the grandkids who is still under 21, so she will get a gift from each family. We also need to buy for my sister's 4 grandkids, ages 4-7. We stopped drawing names in my DHs family a few years ago. The adults used to exchange names as well as the kids, but the other kids (not mine) always got gifts from everyone anyway! So unfair! My kids weren't bothered by it, but I always was. So we quit the gift exchange a few years ago. We still go down for breakfast on Christmas morning, though. I've already told my immediate family (DS, DD, and DH) that since we are low on funds, they may get one gift each. But I also will wrap up IOUs of things they want and will purchase them as I can. They all think that's fine! :)

It will also be the first Christmas since my oldest DD died this past May. She was married and lived out of state, so wasn't home the last few Christmases. It just doesn't feel right to go shopping and not buy anything for her! Also her birthday is December 27th! I'd really like to just completely skip December this year!:sad1:

Chris-you said you make "appetisery" things? I need to bring some "fingery-food" things to my sister's for Christmas. Do you have any ideas? My DD and I are vegetarian, so nothing with meat. Also, I don't really cook, so the easier the better!

Okay, now aren't you sorry you asked me to post? Once I get started, I'm hard to shut up! :teeth:

I went to Beauty School, though - and I'm much more passionate about THAT than this. I like this - and I do well, but Im 33 years old and STILL dont know what I wanna be when I grow up....kwim?

I really love this company and am considering going into Sales here, next year.... I think I'd do really well. Partly because of my winning personality!! :teeth:

How about you?

Were you at WDW during the "meet" - the supposed meet, cuz *I* went TWICE and no one was there!!! :confused3

I am the exact same. I do not know what I want to be. I went to nursing school and have a bachelor's degree. I had my DD and stay at home. I substitue teach and volunteer at the school.

YOU can wait, I could not any longer!!! :rotfl: Well me and then there was Ryan who EVERYDAY bugged me "Are you gonna open it now Mom?" so I eventually caved. Oh yeah, it was FUN! It's your gift you do what you want with it. :p
Private Quarters. www.myprivatequarters.com GOOD stuff I tell ya!

No real traditions for X-Mas eve. Usually we get inthe car and drive around and look at lights and listen to Christmas music (if I get my way, Slayer if Terry gets his :rotfl2: ) and then come home and Ry gets to open one present. Then he goes to bed and I finish all of the last minute stuff and call it a night! Then on Christmas Day we usually go to my Mom's. Although I may have everyone down to my hosue this year. I kind of like being able to lounge inmy jammies all day! :thumbsup2
