The Big S.

One year my son found many many presents in a closet, just a few days before XMas - and his belief started to waiver.

A teary eyed child came to me - Why? Why are they in the closet??

Without skipping a beat - I told him the truth. I had to be honest....

I told him how Santa had become a bit lazy (some might say overworked, but not me) since *I* was a kid. He no longer wrapped the gifts before he headed out on his sleigh. He started started dropping them off a few days before so the parents had to do it.

I showed frustration and anger as I told him the new "Santa" policy.

"Like I have time to do this a few days before Christmas?!? It just makes me mad! And now you saw them all??? I KNEW this would happen. I told them this when they sent the survey" I dont even know where this was coming from...words were just flying out of my mouth.

He understood - shook his little head and said "Y'know, I'd be mad too"

And we got away with it for a few more years. :lmao:

Honestly, I am not even sure exactly where DD stands on the whole 'S' topic. She said she understood when I explained that yes, there is a santa, and the other little girl probably told you that b/c blah, blah, blah.To rebute the little girls accusations I told her that I couldn't leave in the middle of the night (what the girl told her parents did for shopping), I could not buy all that stuff, etc.. But sometimes she just tells me 'okay' so that she won't hurt my feelings. I know that sounds silly but she does. She is very conscious of our feelings. One day, DH had lunch with her at school and he had made her bologna sandwich with cheese (a no-no for DD). She sat there and ate it and smiled. I could not believe it when she told me later that dad put cheese on her sandwich and that it was 'icky'. I asked her why she did not just take it off, and she said b/c she didn't want to hurt dad's feelings. Seriously.

So, I am not sure. I could see me happily going through this song & dance, and then 10 years from now she'll tell me she always knew but did not want to hurt our feelings.

I still believe in Santa! I even heard the reindeer on the roof when I was little! :thumbsup2 And every Christmas morning, there's presents under the tree...I just spend extra long in the bathroom Christmas morning to give DH time to...ahhh....make coffee. Yes, that's what he's doing in the living room on Christmas morning. :coffee:

Just wanted to let everyone know I am getting ready to pick SS names. You should be getting an e-mail from me sometime this evening. If you have any questions, please PM me ok?
Thanks.

DH and I even sign some presents to each other from the BIG S!! :teeth:

My niece and nephews think their Aunt is well connected with the Big S and He calls me too you know.. so all their messages for the Big S they tell me. And one time I told my godson that the Big S is really broke that he can only give everybody 1 present for that year. Well, after 2 days in his room with his older brother he came down and told me:

godson: Mommy Auntie I need to talk to you.

me: Ok, does it have to be now I am on my way to work.

godson: Yes, Mommy Auntie it is very impt ( mind you he was about 5 then)

me: Ok let's have it.

godson: let's go to the living room so we can sit :rotfl2:

me: sat and waited.

godson handed me a note with $435.78

me: Chrism what is this for?

godson: well Mommy Auntie since SS is can only bring one present, can he give me a check ? I had Joey ( the older brother) add all the toys I want from the magazine and that is how much it will cost me to buy it myself. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And I saved that note and had it laminated and every Xmas we post it near the Xmas tree :wizard:

So how is all the Christmas shopping going? DD was told by another child that 'the big S' is not real. I about freaked. I think I cleaned it up okay though. The nerve. DD is really into questioning "is this real/is that real", like with cartoons and such. Anyway, all shopping is done except for parents and IL's (gift cards). It is unfair on my DH's side b/c we have 5 nieces to get for and they only have to get for our 1. Bummer of a deal for us.

I think I have almost all my Christmas shopping done already. I have never been done this early. I still have a few people to buy for the majorit is done

How many of our kiddos still believe in the big "S" man ?

Austin is 9yo and I think he is just humoring me know but has never said he doesn't believe.

Hi all,
If you remember my post about looking other places and redoing my resume. Well i am sure that my job or dept the FDNY had no idea about my intentions or my decision to leave them and move out of nyc asap, i did not tell anyone but you guys and dw. Well i got a job offer, not just any job offer a awesome job offer. Its weird how close i was to leaving. it's like they knew. So you say were, what dept what city huh.Well My job offer came thru from the city of new york ,from the FDNY themselves. I have been asked if i would be intersted in up grading my training. I have to take a test sometime in nov that the FDNY gives out,if i pass. I will be going back to the FDNY academy from march 2007/ until nov 2007. I will be trained in things that even your wildest night mare could never dream up. Also after completion of this training i will be part of the usar(urban search and rescue) team for nyc. This training is really intense and has a 50% drop out/failure rate. If i do make it i will be the e-lite of the FDNY trained in things like, Bio-logical chemical nuclear war fare. building or roof top and even mountain rescue. Hazardarous materials and a million other things thats hard to find training for. Back in the 60's and 70's lasting into the 80's the FDNY had a robo team. They were called robo after robo cop, they were the best the FDNY had to offer the higest trained in anything and when the FDNY came across a diffcult rescue or something that was thought impossible , they call in the Robo team. It was made of a ten man team, one for each boro. This was in the 70's and 80's when they had the crack wars and nyc was a war zone. The have'nt given this class since then and the team was done with and dis-mantaled in 1987. The FDNY has decided that it would be in thier best interest to put the ROBO team back together with this new age , it would be the same with more hardcore training. 10 man or women(pollitial correct :thumbsup2 )teams for each boro. From what i understand i was one of the first names mentioned for this project from my chief.

As the chief explained to me some guys spend there whole carear trying to get into these programs and never make it. The chief said he choose me and gave my name to the chief of FDNY special operations at head quaters because he knows how much i would enjoy this special training. He told me some guys got the training and were quickly offered jobs by the dept of defense and c.i.a. and f.b.i. as well as homeland security and serect service as well some others after this class have been given offers to be the dept head at other dept and citys.. Its strange that as soon as i was all ready to throw in the towel ,this comes along. So last week of nov i'm taking the test and well we will see what happens from there. To be honest i'm really excited but nervous too.

MrFDNY: Good luck and I am so proud of you! You will do great. My prayers and fingers crossed!

Morning all

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow I can use a nothing day...I have nothing to do today until my wine tasting.....

mrFDNY - WOW that's awesome! What a great opportunity. I think you may need a trip to Disney to celebrate once you finish that training.

Antss - COOL story! what a creative kid

the big S dude...let's see, oldest DD found out just last year (she was 11) I had to tell her. We talked about the spirit of Santa and how speading Santa cheer was the most fun part of the holiday!

Miss Grace still believes - & Casey & I had fun last year being Santa for her....I'm sure my time is limited there too....

I started my shopping - went online & bought a couple of the lego sets they wanted (sponge bob (bleech) for Grace, Statue of Liberty for Casey), and pre-ordered the 5th season of full house for Casey.

Hallmark has their open house this weekend....I think I'll go & get started.

that is of course if I can recover from my wine "tasting" tonight...how much wine is considered a "taste" ????? hahahahah :rotfl:
