The Big S.
One year my son found many many presents in a closet, just a few days before XMas - and his belief started to waiver.
A teary eyed child came to me - Why? Why are they in the closet??
Without skipping a beat - I told him the truth. I had to be honest....
I told him how Santa had become a bit lazy (some might say overworked, but not me) since *I* was a kid. He no longer wrapped the gifts before he headed out on his sleigh. He started started dropping them off a few days before so the parents had to do it.
I showed frustration and anger as I told him the new "Santa" policy.
"Like I have time to do this a few days before Christmas?!? It just makes me mad! And now you saw them all??? I KNEW this would happen. I told them this when they sent the survey" I dont even know where this was coming from...words were just flying out of my mouth.
He understood - shook his little head and said "Y'know, I'd be mad too"
And we got away with it for a few more years.
