The preferred rooms are in the 60's building, and you can request a building when you make your reservations.
The 60's building is the closest to the main building, and it's also the building closest to the main pool-or "The Hippy Dippy Pool" as it is more commonly called.
As my DisneyMom will tell you (Magic2000) although the 60's building is located right next to the main pool, it really is quiet. This may have something to do with the fact that we were on the third floor, but maybe not.
While we were there, my DisneySister and I took a walk around the property to look at the different decade buildings, and while they were all nice with a really cool theme to match their respective years-I remember the 90's building being a good walk away, as was one of the 70's. This is great for people who want EXTREME quiet, I guess, but when you're getting back from being at the park all day, and it's hot and you just want to get to your room, I don't think I'd like this. The 60's buildings are located right behind the main building and lobby-i.e. not far from the bus stops.
Which ever building you choose however, the hotel is really awesome! Enjoy your stay!
