Pop- Which buildings are preferred

Maybe you could fill us in on that information. We have also paid for a preferred room that we didn't really think was preferred. They offered to move us, but because we were part of Grand Gathering, it would have thrown off our rooms being together. (All of us had booked preferred by the way)

This worries me -- I have a grand gathering in January at Pop and we all paid for Preferred rooms because we have elderly people with mobility issues. The only reason we paid for preferred was to shorten the "walking", so if it does not, I will not be happy!

We have stayed at Pop 4 times and have always paid for preffered rooms for a grand gathering. On our last trip, we returned home on 10/4, 3 of our rooms were booked as preferred and 2 as standard.

We were in the same building, the standard was just a little further down. I didn't think that the walk to the food court was bad, but it wasn't as short as it had been in other rooms we had stayed in. Basically, we paid more each night to be about 10 doors closer than those who had booked standard.

We have booked a trip for August for just us, and I am trying standard. We are trying to economize to fit in the extra trip. I am curious to see if we are getting what we pay for, or should we just roll the dice and see if we get lucky with a standard.

PS We do love POP!!! on the whole.

In the 1960's Bld there are only 192 Preferred Rooms on each building the "L" shape facing the lake area on both building 4 and 5 are standard rooms. From those 192 only half (1/2) are connecting (meaning there is a door in between rooms). From those 192 only half (96 rooms) are directly facing the pool. So not everybody is going to get a great pool view.
Buildings 1 and 10 have 144 Preferred rooms each, Building 3 and 6 have 48 Preferred rooms each. Preferred room means your room will be located close to the Classic Hall where Front Desk, Concierge, Merchandise, Food and Beverage, Transportation is, understand value resorts do not sell views, only location.
Also people staying in preferred rooms will be walking the same distance to the elevator and stairs. IE: Rooms 4436(preferred) and 4437(standard) will have the same walking distance to stairs and elevator, the only difference is that the standard room will face the lake/courtyard and the preferred room will face Classic Hall/courtyard.

Thanks for the information.I did not know they had reclassified some of the1960s rooms from preferred to standard.I think the new system makes much more sense.:)
