Can I request a ground floor room at Pop? We will have one or two umbrella strollers and I think a ground floor room would be so much easier. Do they take floor requests or just building requests?

Also, what building would you recommend so we are close to the buses and main building? It seems like most people say the 50's or 70's. I am not worried about noise, we are not light sleepers.

Thanks!!

You can request anything you want... but, even if you don't get a ground floor, you can easily take those strollers on the elevators. We always do without any problems.

In regard to location, we really liked 80s/90s. They are a bit further than 70s, but have a pool right there. If you cut across the parking lot to get to the buses, they are really close. We thought that the 50s felt furthest away and were the only building I thought was noisy.

We just got back from a week at POP- and stayed in the 60's building (I highly recommend!) It is close to the pool, as well as the main lobby area/food court area. When I asked at the desk upon arrival, for a preferred room, (they didn't have any when I booked it) the CM told me that a standard room could still keep us close without the extra cost. She just asked me where I preferred to stay (building wise). They put us right where I wanted- except being on the 4th floor, it was perfect! We were on the back side of the building- with a view of the unfinished legandary years building and the lake. It was great!

We were in the 80/90 building and thought that it was a great location :thumbsup2 , its only a three/four minute walk from the bus stops :cutie: . Just cut through the car park on the way back to your room.

The pool is great too and much quieter than the pool outside the food court:woohoo: . You are close to Mr & Mrs PotatoHead too....:yay:

We just got back from the Pop Century and had a ground level floor (not requested). We were very close to the pool in the 50s section and it was fine (except for the screaming banshee next door but I posted about that earlier).

I would suggest the 50s (I had never stayed there before). It's not right next to everything but it's a short walk. I'd say it was about three minutes to the food court/lobby/gift shop/bus stop.

We had preferred ground floor and had a problem with noise. Guests walking past the rooms getting to buildings in the back...laughing, screaming, & running. If I went back I would ask for an upper room.

You can request anything you want, you just may not get it. I can say though that in all of the trips we've made we've managed to get our requests (non smoking, connecting rooms, NOT in Trinidad South when at CBR) on every trip but one.

I personally would suggest the 80's building. You have a close pool and it's got one of the shortest walks in the whole resort to the bus area if you go strait through the parking lot. No building is far from the main area...that to me is the best part about Pop.

We've always asked for ground floor rooms for ease of pushing the stroller in when the kids are asleep. We've always gotten our request honored.

When I saw we were in a ground floor room at Pop Century, I was sure that would be a problem. We actually did not hear anything from the walkways. We didn't even have anyone walk by our room and look in (that always creeps me out). It could be because we were at one end of the resort.

We booked preferred when we took DGD and DGS, and we had two strollers. We didn't think to request ground floor. So we were in 70's, about halfway down, on the second floor and had to walk down to the center of the building to get to the elevator, and it totally negated the closeness of "preferred". Lesson learned; I think you are wise to consider that. I requested ground floor last time I stayed there and it was very nice.

We book all our packages through AAA. It is noted on our reservation that
1st floor is needed for medical reasons (epilepsy). An elevator doesn't help here, it's a height issue.

Last year, Pop gave us a 3rd floor room, and were very nasty when I tried to explain why that wouldn't work for us. They were NOT interested in helping us at all.

So - I pulled out my letter from my neurologist stating the necessity for a 1st floor room. The "room on the 1st floor that didn't exist" suddenly appeared. We received NO APOLOGY from them. The two CMs working on our room were not pleasant or kind. We're not returning to Pop because of this problem.

We were on the ground floor on the backside of the Tramp building, the second room from the end. I guess it was because we were at the end, but we didn't hear anyone walking by. We were facing the lake, also. This was Memorial Day week, and the resort was pretty full.

I usually ask for 4th floor 50's or 70's building!:thumbsup2 When DH is along, I ask for ground floor.

Does anyone ever request away from the elevator? I'm thinking of requesting upper floor away from elevator to limit noise. The last hotel we stayed at we were the first room so we heard lots of foot traffic by our room. But this was with interior hallways. Does the noise not carry as much with exterior hallways?

Our last trip we had a preferred room on the third floor in the corner of the 70's building closest to the food court area. We really liked our location. The spot where surfer Goofy is with the water spouts that shoot out of the ground was right in front of the building.(our kids loved playing here) There was also a nice little playground on the backside of our building alongside Classic Hall. I only found one halfway decent picture i took of the playground that i will post here. I think many people who stay on the other side in the 50's and 60's buildings who don't wander over towards the 70's side might not even know the playground is there.
