POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I am reading about buiding 9 or building 6. What map do I use to see those so I can find my way around.

We requested 60's first floor. We want to be close to the Classic Hall and not on the other end way down by the little kids pool.
What building will this be?

So we were looking at the maps of POP, and SO decided she wants the 60s lakeview...

Are these popular? Would they standard or premium rooms?

We stayed in the 60's, building #5, facing the lake. It was a standard room and it was the perfect location. It was very quiet and peaceful. It was also a 1 minute walk to the main pool and a 5 minute walk to the food court. We loved it! :lovestruc

This is where we stayed also loved it.

Can anyone please provide an updated list of the refurb schedule (which buildings/floors are done, which are yet to be completed and when)? Thanks guys!

I believe they are working on the 70's now! I know that the 50's are not planned for refurb until late August so they are the last on the schedule if that helps I believe 90's,80's are complete and 70's is near complete.:goodvibes 60's some rooms are done but for some reason they stopped and will be going back to that decade. Maybe to get 70's complete I dont really know.

There are standard 60's lakeview rooms :thumbsup2 Add the request to your original ressie by calling the number you did when you booked your trip! Then 5 days prior fax the same request with your name and all your info . I have done this the past three years and have been lucky thus far! :)

60's 1st floor would be either the 4000 or 5000 buildings. Do you have a preferred room or standard? I believe if you want away from the kiddie pool and close to the Classic Hall both of those buildings the rooms would be preferred. Unless you asked for lake view. We always request 1st floor, 4000 building, pool view and have gotten the same room 3 times in a row. :upsidedow

We stayed at POP June 23-30th. We were in building 6 facing the lake on the 4th floor. Very quiet. Our room was refurbed and was very nice. Loved the privacy curtain for getting dressed. While we were there they were working on the 60s building #5, 3rd floor. They were taking out tvs and carpet and were working on the whole floor for awhile. I don't think they were done by the time we checked out. I took 2 pics but haven't learned how to post them to here yet. I was surprised because I have been reading that the 60s would be last.:confused3 Guess not, unless they already had the 50s done? I don't think so though.
This was our first stay at POP and I can say that no matter what building you are in, it is not a far walk to Classic Hall. We stayed at CBR last year, and THAT is a spread out resort. We loved this resort!

Oh this would be so good. I really want 60 section. But I want a new room more. LOL I'm going to wait to call until September to put my request in. I don't want to have to call twice.

This is a pic from the Hippy Dippy pool looking up at the 3rd floor. All the rroms were being worked on.

Were at POP 6/29-7/6... They were doing Blg 5 2nd floor on July 5th when we were sitting at pool watching them....:thumbsup2

I put what I want on my reservation and I fax. Both times we've stayed there, we got exactly what I asked for.

Where do you fax to?? :surfweb: I didn't start reading about all this refurb info until after we had booked; will be there Aug 1. Ideally would like 60s w/refurb room, hopefully a few of those will be done by then.

WHAT IS POP CENTURY RESORT?

Quote:
Disney's Pop Century Resort is a celebration of the second half of the 20th century's pop culture. The resort's larger-than-life time capsules preserve the toys, fads, dance crazes, and catch phrases of the American pop century. How we lived. How we played. How we celebrated. How we communicated. These stories and many others are all here for future generations to discover and celebrate. Guests have the opportunity to live and play inside these unique time capsules - to experience the pop culture of this century like never before.

THE BASICS

Classic Hall is the name of the main building. Classic Hall houses the front desk area, the arcade, and the merchandise/food court area named "Everything POP." You walk into this area, and it starts off as the merchandise store. Walk further, and it becomes the Food Court. The Food Court itself is HUGE. There are many tables, lots of soda fountains, and a very eclectic selection of food.

Everything on property is VERY close to Classic Hall. The furthest building might be a 6 minute walk to the main building, if that. In fact, the Classic Years Resort is only 1,500 feet from one corner to the diagonally-opposite furthest corner.

Pop Century Resorts was originally planned to be broken into two separate resort areas. They were to be named the Legendary Years and Classic Years. The lands of Legendary and Classic Years would have been connected via the Generation Gap Bridge over Hourglass Lake. However, in May 2010, it was announced that the area that would have been the Legendary Years will become a new budget suite resort named Disney's Art of Animation.

5-20-2010: I called Pop to get an update on the rooms - they aren't so quick to give out information today....

Building 9 is completely done
Building 8 is partially (90%) done (should be the next building finished)
Building 7 started not completed
Buildings 6 & 10 - she didn't have any information
Buildings 1, 2, 3 - still scheduled to start August
Buildings 4 & 5 - still scheduled to be last

The update TammiDZ got in late May looks to be changing? Pop guests are reporting work is being done on building 5 right now?

We usually stay at POP for quick stays or when we add on days.. I definetly am requesting to get the 70's! Love the resort, and the nice TV's haha.

Hi! I just requested a 50's room for 11/27-12/4, you think this group of rooms will be redone by then if they are slated to begin refurb in August?

That would be a nice surprise if they were nice and new like!
