POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I added my request to my reservation earlier this week and asked for a refurb in the 70's. I am not thrilled about the theming of the 80's & 90's and prefer not to be right by a pool in case it's noisy.

We check in on Wednesday, we will see how it goes.

That is basically what I am going to request and why! Good luck and enjoy! :goodvibes

I put what I want on my reservation and I fax. Both times we've stayed there, we got exactly what I asked for.

For our upcoming, I decided to request Building 6 lakeside, 4th floor. I loved Building 4, but DS and DN do not want to stay in the same building, and I can't blame them. I really want a new room, and I think odds are very good for getting one there.

I do have to say, though, that I think the Foosball figures are ugly. I am not thrilled over the idea of walking past them every day of our trip. Some of the photos I've seen of them in the Pop photo thread belong on the "weird and disturbing" picture thread. Then again, I guess the giant dancers on the '60's buildings are creepy too.

I love Pop and I think it's cool that the decor is totally over-the-top, but I have to admit that some things there are ugly.

Faxing??, I herd this did not work?, hay you got your request and It looks like It cerntly did not hurt I might try this. Did you just send one?

Tammi, This has me wondering - since all resort calls go to the Call Center and they answer with the name of the resort, unless they are willing to transfer you to the back office, this is the information available to the call center operators. It's great that they keep the call center so updated! :thumbsup2 Thanks!
I actually called POP directly and had them transfer me to the registration office.

Thanks for the link! Love the added curtain to block off the vanity area. As an anti-morning person, this just might make me a happier camper when DH is getting ready in the AM. The only thing better would be a sound-proof curtain to block out the super-sonic flush in the middle of the night.

As far as I know there is no direct number for Pop. The number listed on the Pop FAQ goes to the call center. All resort numbers go to the call center, and they answer like they are at the resort you are calling.

I stayed at Pop! on the 10th to 17th of this month. I requested a refurbished room and that was it. We got exactly what we wanted! A refurbished room on the 3rd floor of 90's building 8. We loved it!

While there they were working on building 7 (behind Roger Rabbit) from what I saw, although I'm assuming they're probably done that by now?

A few things to keep in mind..

There are days when 3000 to 5000 rooms change guests at the value resorts. Imagine if they all call the registration office...

What will happen is.. there will be a big clampdown..

If everyone puts their requests on the reservations.. they see it exactly the same as when you call, fax or send a carrier pigeon...

And that way it keeps the room assignor on task and assigning rooms..

This won't be a popular post.. but the fact is.. if we all start calling, they are just going to stop accepting calls.. just as they pretty much have with faxing.

Just something to keep in mind.

I just got back and I got all my room requests....build 3, end unit, lake view. I just had that on my ressie and got it!!! I really think they do try and accommodate you. They want you to be happy just as much as you want to be happy!
All the CM's were so awesome...from the front desk to the mousekeepers to the CM's in the gift shop! In fact my girlfriend that I took, who has never been to DW before, couldn't get over how much interaction the CM's had with us!! Everyone asking if she was having a good first visit. We even got asked to be in the parade at Magic Kingdom!!!!
It truly was a perfect trip!

Just returned a couple of days ago from Pop. We always try to stay in buildings 7, 8, or 9. We prefer Bldg 9 because its a short jaunt across the parking lot to the buses. Got Bldg 9 without any problem and it was refurbed. I am an early riser and my daughter was able to sleep in a bit with the curtain up between the room and vanity.
I am posting a pic of the mattress since folks were discussing it. I cheated....my daughter and I drove (all the way from VA) so I brought foam toppers for the beds :) I slept great most of the nights because of that.

This will be our second trip (both at Pop). I can't wait. We booked a standard room (prefer quiet to proximity) and I didn't make any special requests. I'm kind of hoping we get a refurbed room though. Here's hoping for a little magic.
I'll keep my eyes and ears open for any updates on the refurb while we're there. Be talking to you in two weeks!

I cant believe people get so upset when kids jump on beds. Im not saying go hog wild BUT a little jumping isnt going to hurt the kids or the bed (unless your kid is a beefy lil nugget!) My parents use to let my brother and I go crazy jumping on the bed the first few min we would get in the hotel. Shoes off of course!! I still do it when I get to disney, just a little! I also let my son get a little crazy the first 5 min we are there! I think its all part of being a kid! let your kids have a little fun! Its Disney for God sake people!!!:cool1::woohoo::rotfl2::banana::yay:

I was at Pop 5/20-25 in Building 10, room 0361. It was not renovated. They started construction on the 4th floor the last 2 days we were there so I assume they were working on those rooms.

OK, we leave in 3 weeks and I am still trying to figure out what to add to my request. We really like building 5 facing the lake, but I think we would like to get a refurbished room. If I understand correctly building 6 is refurbished. Is it a nice location? How would you compare it to building 5? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Any word on when buildings 4 and 5 will be done?

Going end of June/early July.... also weekend after Thanksgiving. Our two favorite buildings and would hate for them to be closed due to refurb work during either stay! Hoping they are open for our jUne/july trip... and would be nice if refurbed by thanksgiving trip!

So are they going to refurb all the buildings are just 70's?

I believe someone posted before that they are not doing the renovations over the summer, so you are likely safe for July. November would still be up in the air unless you get word it is done or skipped until after your trip.

It also sounds like they are only closing a floor at a time to keep their occupancy up.

We are headed down in a couple of weeks! I will let you know what I see and hear.

I'm staying at the Pop In July in a preferred room.
It's my understanding that the 70's is the preferred is this correct?

No, only part of it is. I stayed in Standard 70's back by the lake in 2007

question regarding the ever popular "flat screen tv"

Do they come with HD Video feeds? or is it basic SD cable?

I would prefer a 4:3 TV if they are feeding it basic SD video.

So are they going to refurb all the buildings are just 70's?
all buildings and decades will be refurbed. This post will give you an idea of the timeline for the rehab - http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=36565388&postcount=485

No, just certain rooms in the 70's, 60's and 50's are preferred. The map in this post will show you which areas are considered preferred
