POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Building 6 because I knew 100% it was refurbished and we wanted an upper floor room because it is less noisy. Even walking the stairs was not bad. Some people would rather have 1st floor if they have small kids in strollers and then you don't have to deal with the elevators but you might hear more noise as people are walking to their rooms

Ah, I see. We stayed second floor at the 80s last time and loved it.

For those who have already stayed in a refurbed room, was the new paint smell strong? My wife has bad asthma, and I do not want to put her in a situation where it may trigger an attack...would love to stay in new room, but wanting to measure out the risk...Thanks in advance for your help...going in 4 days...YIPPEEE!

Depending on what her triggers are - that may be a problem.

There's the paint, the carpet, the carpet glue and so forth. So all those smells cascading together may be too much .. hard to say unless you ask the main person of concern - your wife.

Guess we will be requesting a 70s refurb room.... I would love to stay in the 60s again if it was refurbed, but does not look like they will get there in May... :) thanks all for all of the great info!

We didn't notice a paint smell in our room so we're assuming that it had been painted for awhile now or we had the AC running a lot???

Room 6408 is what we had!

Can anyone suggest a good standard location in the 70's section?
We've stayed in the 50's loved it! We did preferred last year and stayed in the 60's and it was ok we thought . We 're doing standard again this time and we're hoping to get a room in the 70's refurbed if not our next request is 80's , 3rd would be 90's facing the computer pool! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated noise is not a factor for us my crew can sleep through anything! :)

Checked in today...got a refurbed room in building 9. There was a paint smell when we entered the room....guess they didn't use a low VOC paint. I don't smell it now but I think we might be used to it.

While I love the look of the new rooms, I'm not liking the lack of storage....looks like we will be purchasing those hanging sweater racks that someone posted earlier for when we come back for free dining in September.

When we were at the check in desk, the CM told me that all of building 6 and building 9 have been refurbed.

We are checking out tomorrow. We are in 70's building. I didn't notice any paint smell. This is my first value stay so I can't compare it to anything. I am so glad for the rehab room though. Nice tv.

:yay::yay:

We are doing the happy dance, we check in to Pop Century May 1 and have never stayed there. I guess I will be requesting one of the Refurbished rooms too.

party:We too are checking in May 1st for our fist stay at POP. See you there! Hope we both get refurbished rooms!!!:cool1:

We're checking in May 15th. We're hotel snobs so we were going moderate, but then when we read that they were refurbing rooms and saw the pictures, we decided this would be a great time to try a value...

We didn't notice a paint smell in 6212. I am sensitive to paint smells, so I probably would've noticed. It just smelled clean and new.

I don't notice any paint smell .... nor anything from the carpet and bedspreads (this could be a source too) ... nothing at all.

Saw crews working on the 90's building (3rd level) last week.

When they refurbish to they actually replace the old mattresses with new ones?
New bedspreads?

thanks

So this is a long thread.....I am sure someone has posted if/when they are doing to other bldgs? I am going to try and skim through right now but thought I would ask!

Thank you!:lovestruc

I'm on the airplane right now heading back to Cincinnati. We averaged 6 hours of sleep a night the whole time we were there so I'm going to catch up on sleep tomorrow after work and I'll post my pictures hopefully on Tues or Wed!!!

When I did my request, I called and asked for building 6 and upper floor room to be put on my room request. I faxed it in using the sample letter on the POP page on here and fixed it up a bit to make it my own and detailed it more just like how the sample letter was.

I put the request over the phone 5 days before I arrived and did the fax 3 days before I arrived. We were in room 6408.

Was wondering if you could tell me where you found the sample fax letter on here? Thank you!

Ok so I skimmed and I see that CanadianGuy very graciously answered my question a million times...thanks fellow Canadian!!!! I am going July 23-29 so I will wait and see if 60's bldg is done and if not see what family wants to do and go from there!!!:thumbsup2

Thank you EpcotBill that is now both questions answered!!!!:thumbsup2

What a great letter and what a beautiful little girl the letter writer has!!!!

We stayed in 5225(60's building 2nd floor closes to 70's). It was not refurbished yet. Great location- not preferred, but a very short walk to food court and busses. The busses this year where the worst that I've ever experienced, especially to MK. Also, by the way my family loves POP, but we are outgrowing the rooms. We actually did a DVC open house and .......:confused3 Does anyone have an opinion on the DVC?
