POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Yes! They were very nice to have. I would take a drawstring backpack for in the parks and it was nice to come back and hang that on the hook. I also had an older WDW tote bag that we used when we went to TL and I hung that on there until I was able to empty it and shake out the sand :)

Ooh..those will be great! I like the idea of hanging my backpack.

Quick Crazy Question Which I Think I Know the answer but want to verify is this a standard room?

On the room interior.. there is no diff between preferred and standard.

Just location.

I honestly think I prefer the "new" look better than the old. The bedding is cute and I like the accent wall. At first the lack of border looked a little plain, but the more I see it, the more I like it!
And I LOVE that addition of a privacy curtain and coat rack. We're staying two weeks this year and I was really fretting about space and privacy for the four of us. I spent quite of bit of time planning this out and had decided to bring an over-the-door hook for the backpacks and a tension rod and curtain for the sink area - Now I won't have to! :yay:

Thanks again for the pix everyone!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great pics!! I am getting really excited about staying in the new refurbished rooms. Gotta love Pop!!

It was a preferred room because of the view and we were close to the main pool and main building the all of building 6 is done so you can request it and get a room on the back half of the building which would be a standard room.

I'm just curious - why is building 6 and 4th floor so popular?

Building 6 because I knew 100% it was refurbished and we wanted an upper floor room because it is less noisy. Even walking the stairs was not bad. Some people would rather have 1st floor if they have small kids in strollers and then you don't have to deal with the elevators but you might hear more noise as people are walking to their rooms

Hello Pop people! :wave2:
I posted earlier today on the big Pop thread but thought I would post here too! Just got back from Pop this morning...got a refurbed room in building 6 also! We had preferred so it was at the end closest to Everything Pop. We were on the 3rd floor and didn't think it was noisey at all. We loved it! We had never stayed there before so it was a new and fun experience! The downside...being picked up at 3:30 am this morning for our 6:00 am flight!! :scared: We survived, however, and after a 3 hour nap today I have returned to the living! I am planning to write a mini trip report soon (before I forget anything!) so stay tuned for that on the trip report board. :goodvibes

We stayed at pop century a week after they opened. It a great resort. I noticed across the lake they were building more rooms. Did they finish building them. I would like to know. Thanks.:confused3

Those were going to be the Legendary Years, but they never finished them. I am not real sure the story, but most people thing it looks like a ghost town there. Actually it is really sad. But, the Classic Years are up and going and looking great!

Here's the only pic I took of our room on my phone. The only drawback is drawer space. The bed is a little too firm right now but that will pass soon. :)

Oooh I see Pete's Dragon on the wall poster! I've never been to Pop before...is this collage new? Pete's Dragon is one of my favorite Disney movies and I've been wondering if/where it is represented in WDW.

I think it's in all the '70s rooms.

Thanks for the info! I'm really thinking about changin my requested to 70's -refurbed or 80's refurbed . I've staye din the 50's and loved it ! and we had a preferred room last year in the 60's and it was ok but not all it's cracked up to be 70's building 10 is just as close just a lil longer to the pool in the 60's. I'

We thought that 70s was quiet compared to what the 60s looked like with the main pool being there! We did not mind the short walk :)

As if I wasn't excited enough about our first family trip, now I am siked about all these updates at Pop!

(Edited to fix my spelling of siked from siekd...)

The real story is that construction was underway to the point you see today (see link below) when 9-11 happened. Within a few weeks of 9-11 it became clear that the economy and air travel in particular were going to need a few years to recover.

Disney then stopped construction all together at Pop Century and mothballed the project hoping to resume when better times came around. They also closed one of the Port Orleans resorts for 12 full months for 'refurbishment' -- when it reality it too was mothballed for the year.

Since then, everyone and their dog (including me!) has been longing to see that finished. There was talk that there was a project on the table for construction in 2010.

But the economy played a role again - and with bookings down (way way down in some time periods over the last 12 months) .. the project appears to be 'on hold' yet again.

(link to thread with pics)

I always thought it was psyched. :confused3

Psyched, Siked, Sciked, Scieked, or however you wanna spell it.. I'd be ALL those things if they ever got around to dealing with the eyesore on the other side of the lake. :)

Yeah, me too. If they're not going to complete the buildings I'd like to see Disney tear them down, plant a bunch of trees and extend the promenade all the way around the lake. That would have me psyched, siekd, cyked, even ecstatic.
