Looking to take a budget trip in April. Kids and I can't decide which hotel. For anyone who's stayed at both, opinions please.

Also, looking at pictures, Calypso room had the privacy curtain. Do all values have this?

I know POP has Frozen Coke, does Music?

Thanks!

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.
It tends to be quietest of all of the values.
It also has a lot of nice landscaping.

I like the food court at All Star Music for a quick grab and go breakfast on the way to the parks.

I like the fact I can pay for a preferred location and know I will be close to the main pool. food court, and bus stop.

I enjoy the theming at All Star Music. I love seeing the children having fun getting squirted by Three Caballeros (Donald and friends) at the All Star Music pool.

BTW:

All Star Music just underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.

All Star Music now has the privacy curtain which divides the sleeping area from the vainty area.

All Star Music is only value resort that has this curtain.

I am hoping when the All Star Sports rooms are refurbished between june this year (2007) and Feb. (2008) they will add the privacy curtains to the Sports rooms as well.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Please see my info thread for more of the reasons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

I agree for same reasons :thumbsup2

I havent stayed at both...............Just POP. One good thing (the reason i stay there) they do not share buses!! The theming is great..........but i would say it is geared to adults..........I take my son and all he cares about is the pool and icees. After all we are in the parks most of the time. I would say its a toss up! Im sure where ever you choose you will have a great time!:thumbsup2

I've stayed at both, and while I like both, I would choose Pop over Music. In my opinion, the theming is more fun, the arcade is awesome, and not sharing busses with any other resorts is a HUGE plus. I also found the food to be better at Pop.

Thanks for your replies....anyone else have opinions?
Does Music have the frozen coke? I like the privacy curtain a lot!

Wow! I just looked at the pics of the renovated rooms and they look great!!! I love the new interior. I am also on the fence about these two resorts. I ahve never stayed at a value, but am thinking I'd rather use the $$$ I'd spend at a deluxe, on tours, souvenirs, etc.. I am going to add ASMu to our list! I like the fact that it would be quieter, it would just be hubby and me.

No, AS Music does not have the frozen cokes.

We have stayed at both and find Music to be quieter. I have been there when it did not share a bus with the other resorts.

We have also found that it often takes the bus longer to get back and forth to Pop as there doesn't seem to be a direct route. (or at least it feels like it)

We just stay at Pop when we are looking for a change of scenery (or to get the frozen cokes). :thumbsup2

We really like Music for the theming and pools. However, it always seems just way too big, I mean, a spread out - lay out. I would certainly pay for a preferred room here when we go with our kiddo. Comparing the food courts, it appears that POP has the better selection, which is important to us, especially on a longer trip.

I've stayed at both places.
Music is a great place for litle kids, and so is POP!
I my opinion, POP is better then Music.
Just the whole feeling of each decade is amazing.
We stayed in the 50's room last year and that was great!
The rooms are like the decades and everything!

I am also deciding between these two and location is a big factor for me as it will be just myself and Dd and the bus system...which resort has the better location? We will be doing mostly MK, Epcot and Downtown Disney.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)
