POP- Crowded!!!!

We stayed last March - the only real problem we had was the lack of parking at night when we got back to the resort. We only took the bus one night when we went to Downtown Disney.

As far as I know - they have no plans to finish the section across the lake. Others may have heard differently - when we were there - there was no activity at all!

The crowd would actually spontaneously cheer when a new bus would come because it was that bad. We also seemed to have quite a few handicapped (?) people who would just roll up to the front of the line (with the whole family) that we had been waiting in for 45+ minutes....have the driver do the whole 10 minute lift thing- then walk to their seat??

<sarcasm> Yeah, those handicapped people have it so easy don't they? They just roll right up to the bus and hop on, leaving us losers in their pixie dust!</sarcasm>

I can't believe I even have to say it, but plenty of handicapped people or people who use wheelchairs can walk short distances. I hardly think that because they can manage two steps from their chair to their seat that they are faking their limitations. :sad2:

We went to check out POP at the end of January which is typically a very uncrowded time. We wanted to see if we would like to stay there in the future. We were shocked at how busy it was. People everywhere. The food court and store were really busy. Lots of line ups. The bus was packed. Lots of people standing. Decided it wasn't for us. I think if I went back to a value resort it would be the All Stars. We've stayed there during busy seasons and it never felt as crowded as POP.

Thank you so much for saying this Foxtrotter! You made my night!

Sorry to hear you had to wait an hour for a bus. I had the opposite experience.

I didn't wait any longer than 15 minutes for a bus and sometimes there was no wait at all.

However, the first day they did send us a bus with no air conditioner in the middle of August, I almost fainted. I got nervous that this was how the rest of the trip was going to go, but that was just a fluke.

The transportation for the rest of the trip was outstanding. I would be pretty upset if I had to wait an hour just to get to the park. There was one day when we were waiting for about 10 minutes and a CM came up to my 9 year old daughter with a walkie talkie and asked her order us a bus is was cute. She felt so special. A nice Disney touch.

Hopefully, your experience isn't the norm, because I'm thinking about going again this August and my expectations are high because last year we had such a good time.

We actually just returned from Spring Break at Pop Century. We only stayed one night but we found the food court to be very good. I use a wheelchair, and am one of the people who can walk a few steps, so we drove to the front of Pop century to get the bus to Downtown Disney. We found the bus scheduled to be good. Not very long lines, reasonable wait for bus. We were so pleased we just booked our June trip to Pop. We also found the bus drivers to be very accomodating to the my mom and myself regarding getting the me in the chair on and off the bus quickly. Overall a good experience. :flower:

Now I'm getting worried! :sad1: Tell me it's gonna be ok... :(

Just a comment RE: bus loading and wheelchairs:

I have read - and experienced at WDW - that the drivers are supposed to have guests with wheelchairs board first, as the ramp needs to come down, etc, and the space needs to be relatively clear to get the wheelchair on board and in place safely for the trip - having other riders getting on and jostling for space would make this a nightmare for the driver and the guest in the wheelchair.

We were there in January, were told the resort was full. It was our first time using the busses and we had no problems except for a 15 minute wait once at MK closing time. We really liked Pop and will definitely stay there again. Sorry it wasn't as good for you. :(
