Pop Century Room Renovations

With all the changes and the fridge being moved below the coffee maker (reportedly) I wonder what the new storage space that has drawers for clothing will look like? Will the TV still be on top of it or affixed to the wall? I don't remember seeing pics of that part of the room in the promo rooms. Excited to find out!

I'm curious about this, too. I hope the TV is mounted to the wall; the refrigerator incorporated into the beverage station; and a dresser with at least 4 drawers in it (6 would be better). I read somewhere (maybe here....maybe on a different board) that there will be storage under the queen-size bed as well. I'm not sure if that means space for storing suitcases or actual drawers that can be used for clothing. Space to unpack is a big selling point for our family...and none of the Disney resort (standard) rooms seems to have enough drawer space for our family. Perhaps that's a sign that we pack too much. :D Even when we stay in a suite at AoA, we don't really have enough space to unpack everything even when we're only a family of 5. I take a hanging sweater storage thing for one of the kids to "unpack" into. If we're a party of 6, one son just lives out of his suitcase. Plenty of space in the suite to stow away luggage, snacks, etc. but not enough dresser space (though it's the best of the resorts for now). I really hope there are more than 2 or 3 drawers in the new Pop rooms. There should be at least 2 drawers for each person (in my opinion).

LOL - I can completely understand the over packing challenge @bluezy. We're only a family of 2 and find we use all of the drawers! I also bring plastic hangers from home to hang many of my clothes. That good ole FL humidity is helpful for removing wrinkles! Glad it's good for something. ;)

Funny you should mention All Stars. After talking with said manager, it was mentioned that Music or Movies was up for refurbishment after POP. This person couldn't remember which one exactly. I agree, hope prices don't rise too much.

Don't hold your breath. If this stupid gondola is built for many millions and more to maintain ........ Disney doesn't invest in non-cash producing entities unless they have ways to recoup ............ aka room rates of those resorts on the line will pay for it. If they eliminate levels and this is no longer a "value" ..... they can leave the value price range. Just raise the price $25 per night. 2880 rooms x $25 x 365 days = $26.3m per year. That's just POP. Boost AoA and CBR ............ that gondola is now a cash generator.

CSR rooms are getting tv on the wall and under is more a cabinet / desk combo as they have two real beds. The cabinet / dresser is low with 6 drawers.

I bring wire from cleaners. Take less space, light and when I head home I put them in the trash. They are fine for a short term.

I fee like I've had my head under a rock - can someone direct to me info re this "potential gondola"?

Thank you :) Geeze - take 2 years off from Disney and the whole WORLD changes :)

Well in your favor, it hasn't been discussed too long and mostly in RUMOR forums. And the sources that claim it has been "confirmed" and is "official" ......... are using their journalistic craft to presume. DISNEY has not confirmed or made official, and Reedy Creek IS Disney and I don't think they have either. The sources are all looking at permits for structures and not official wording or info that it's a gondola. Gotta love they know someone who shared everything but they aren't willing to show proof. Yes I am holding up hope they are something else from a visual and financial perspective, so I'll wait to be totally disappointed until there is something written from Disney .............

This will ruin views in Epcot, Boardwalk, Caribbean Beach Resort, the roads and boost POP/AoA/CBR rates. All for a few folks and some publicity.

Completely agree. I SO hope this doesn't come to fruition.

Ditto for me...I have no desire to use this form of transportation and would rather see Disney put this money towards more attractions in the parks or new resorts. That being said, I'm pretty confident it's happening. There's a very reliable source on another board who has been confirming it and providing general information. I'd be shocked (based on that insider's information) if this doesn't happen. I can't think of anything that s/he has been wrong about since I started reading those boards many years ago.

Deep down I know it's happening. Part of me is holding out hope though.

I bring wire hangers from the dry cleaners too. They are much skinnier, and I hang everything I can. The ones from housekeeping are bulkier.

Me too! For same reasons. I take 40 wire hangers, they take no space in an outside luggage pocket. Hubby and I hang all our clothes, we use the hanging clothes drawers/bin for the kids and use the dresser (after I wipe it down with Lysol wipes) for swimsuits, undies, pjs and socks. I've learned years ago how to survive at Pop with only 3 drawers! :)

I personally am excited about the renovations and the potential gondola project. The last time we stayed at Pop in Oct. 2015, the rooms looked very tired and the bathrooms, don't get me started. I am all for them sprucing up Pop, and will be willing to pay more $$ to have a gondola accessible in the future. .. and at least for our trip coming up in September, I am excited to stay in a renovated room without the upcharge! ...and I know there are no guarantees that I will get a renovated room from the get go, but we should be able to switch after a night or 2, if we have to.

I'm another that isn't excited about a gondola. Why not just increase bus freq during peak times. Crammed in cheek to jowl in a gondola isn't much different than bus during peak times.

I never pack hangers, easy to ask for some once I arrive.

I'm curious about storage too. It seems every time they renovate rooms, storage space goes. The dedicated dressers had way more room. Then some genius decided to incorporate the fridge into dresser and there goes storage. There was nothing wrong with the seperate cabinet with fridge inside and coffee service on top.
While I was never a fan of the open clothes rack in the bathroom, at least it had that large shelf above for more storage. From the pics I've seen now it's a tiny closet. Wish there were more pics of this. With just my daughter and I we take up all the storage space in the rooms!
