Pop Century Room Renovations

They are starting to work on building 10. They were carrying out old mattresses today and carrying other stuff in. Also, we walked over to AOA and they were starting to work on the bridge. They did let us cross. Taking a park day off tomorrow so I'll check out the bridge again.
Thanks for the update. I'm especially interested in the bridge. We are checking in next Friday. I hope to use the bridge.

If that is true than is it reasonable to assume 7,8 and 9 are all done? Those are our requested buildings and would like to be sure they are complete. Another question, I have made my requests however is it worthwhile to actually call Pop Century (provided someone knows the phone number???) instead of that centralized number a few days before to see if I can get a specific area? I am looking for room 9137 or 9237 because of its proximity to the buses.

Someone had reported that they were in building 9 so I would say yes 7-8-9 are all done and open.

Has anyone reported staying in building 7? I think it's still closed at this time. They opened a second building late last week but I don't believe a third building is open yet. I understand rooms starting with a 8 and those with a 9 are open but that's it at this time. They seem to be working on 2 buildings at the same time but the buildings are at different stages of completeness.

I stand corrected Building 7 is reportedly scheduled to open August 14 so officially only two buildings are open

9137 is our request as well, for 9/9. Let me know if you are successful in getting your requests!! Good luck!

And apparently from photos and info on building 7 it had more extensive work to be done, they were blocked walkways and even opening walls, could have been water damage, so hopefully that doesn't delay the building 10 and 6 work too much.

Well I am 60 days away from check in :D But at a guess I will be getting an old room as I am staying prefered and dont think any of those rooms have been done yet.

Thank you so much for the update! I have been waiting to hear these things for weeks. We are going in December and have a preferred room booked, so it's nice to know that barring something going wrong or construction being messed up, that we will most likely have the chance at getting a refurbed room. Also nice to hear the bridge isn't closed... but then again who knows if that will change pretty quickly. It is just my bf and I travelling so the refurbed rooms suit our needs so well as we only need the one bed. Fingers crossed!

So funny, we booked a preferred room, but I requested a room close to room 9242! I guess that area is a good choice! You get renovated room and are not too far!

I called to ask to be in the 80's section and using TouringPlans to send a request. I've never used them so I hope it works! :)

My husband as a collection of Rubik cubes and love old arcade games like Pacman! I really hope we at least are in that building! :)

Just checked in, Bldg 9. He said just released "this week" so smells very new. Just here for one night (a side trip from beach to do GMR). Raining. If stops may walk bridge to eat dinner at AoA on way to park.

Pros and Cons to room. As I expected with floor, room echos and a week and already scuffs and dirty spots. Gonna need to stay on housekeeping.

I am trying to do Online check in and it is not saving 90's building as an option. I pick 90's 1st then 80's but after i save i go check and the 90's selection isnt there, its blank. Anyone else have this issue?

I have used the Touring Plans fax request several times at different resorts and gotten exactly what I wanted every time. I didn't request a specific room but the range of rooms. I stayed at Pop over July 4th in one of the refurbed rooms in the 90s. Loved the room, but didn't like the location overall. The TP fax also gives you a place to add any extra requests or notes to the fax. So I put something along the lines of, "I really, really, really would love to have one of the new refurbed rooms. But if that is not possible please put me in 50s or 60s lakeside, ground floor. Also, I am traveling solo so a King bed would work fine for me." I got a King room, third floor 90s. Basically, I wanted a new room or as far away from construction as possible! They hadn't started with the gondola construction yet.
